The Growcery Camp is a rustic camp situated on the banks of the mighty Orange River, 22km from Vioolsdrift and offers a tranquil friendly environment with endless views of the river and the surrounding rock formations in the Nababeep Concervancy. Camp on the banks of the Orange River, enjoy the bush cooking on open camp fires, hike in the desert and explore the best celestial skies the Richtersveld has got to offer. A basic needs bush camp with all the bare essentials needed to provide you with an unforgettable experience. We provide a comfortable camp that is suitable for anyone that wants to get away and experience the silence of the Richtersveld. We have strived to create an eco-friendly camp. Balancing development with sustainability, recycling and growing our own organic produce. We are continually striving to integrate our camp with nature and allows for a free and natural experience with the necessary luxuries that a person needs. It is the perfect place to relax after a day's drive, explore the beautiful desert surroundings and cool off in the longest river in South Africa. Camp Sites: The Growcery Campsites offer 220 V power supply, braai facilities, lights and a washing-up basin unit. This allows for basic but very tranquil accommodation along the Orange River. The views from the campsites are overlooking the Richtersveld mountains and the Orange River. Chic Shack: This two bedded recycled shack, is nothing like you have ever seen before and contains two single beds with mattresses. Bedding is supplied with one or two other basic amenities. Hiking, swimming, rapids and fast flowing water is all on the agenda for our Orange River rafting trail that awaits your arrival. 4x4 Richtersveld Safaris: Hiking and scenic drive in the Richtersveld mountains. This area is well known for the infamous rocky and steep Richtersveld 4 x 4 routes. Hiking Trails: Our Growcery team offer guided hiking trails departing from our camp.Exploring the gorges and the plateaus of the mountains that surrounds our camp. Our hiking trails are from as little as 1 hour: 30 min to a full day of exploration. In general the most popular hike for camp visitors are 3 to 4 hours. Endemic succulents, scorpions, quiver trees, dassie rat, birds and rock formations.
