PA Dutch Country RV Resort

185 Lehman Road
17545, Manheim
Pennsylvania, USA

In the heart of Lancaster County, this great location offers access to the sights and sounds of Amish Country. Sightseeing in rural Pennsylvania will give you the opportunity to experience the lifestyle of these traditional people whose transportation is the horse and buggy and who live off the land. See the beautiful handcrafts including woodworking, quilts and pottery and be sure to eat at one of the regional restaurants that specialize in the hearty home style cooking. Wooded campsites with convenient three point hookups, an outdoor pool complex and a full-service store with snack bar are great additions that make your visit complete.

Thousand Trails PA Dutch Country is a great campground, close enough to lots of US & State history while still being far enough out to be nice and peaceful. The campgrounds location makes day trips to local attractions easy and convenient, with both National Parks, State Parks & theme parks all close by. The campground roads and spots were all well maintained, level and made for easy set up. For larger rigs the road are a little narrow but still passable for our 44 foot 5th wheel pulled by a long bed crew cab dully. The F loop bath house was closed and had been for some time. The store was open while we were there but was still working on getting stocked for the season. It was great to have a store with come convenience items that may have been forgotten, they also had a concession stand run by a 3rd party with dinner foods and ice cream. We enjoyed this on checkin day, allowing us more time to enjoy the campground rather than having to cook that night. The pool was currently being prepped to open for the season, but looked really nice and enjoyable with a great water feature for the little ones. During our stay we used a cellular router and had a good experience doing so with AT&T SIM card. I feel like starlink here would have been hit or miss depending on your site and campground wifi comes at a cost per day, week or month. We did find out site a little tight for a larger camper and a little short for one as long as ours needing to park a vehicle in front. Even got asked one day to put our truck in overflow, which was a little crazy being it was our only vehicle. They stay strict to the rules which is fine since we follow the rule .... for the most part but somethings could be bent a little in certain situations, IMO. Overall a great campground we would definitely go back to. Thank you.

We checked in on a Sunday. The guard shack was aware of our arrival, but had no idea how to complete the reservation payment. She seemed sweet but really lacking training. Not her fault... The campground seems fine and clean for the most part. The mini golf is nice and well cared for, the pool looks clean. The odd thing is the hours for the trading post are posted but nobody is around and it isn't opened. the rec room is open, but nobody in there either. It is a find campground in a wooded area. If you are self sufficient and don't need anything and aren't expecting a fun summer getaway with a bunch of activities you're fine. I typically expect a place with "RV Resort" in the title to have more management around to ensure all the campers have the attention they need.

We reserved PA Dutch Country via our Thousand Trails membership so our stay was $0. We requested an ADA site in advanced and it was easy to navigate to our assigned site. Unfortunately the site was very unlevel and our tires were 6-8 inches off the ground. The site was a mixture of uneven grass, dirt, worn gravel, and appeared to be in an older part of the park. We would not trust anyone with accessibility limits to be able to move around this site. We called the office immediately and they quickly moved us to a fully graveled, pull-though site, in Loop F. The sites in Loop F were better taken care of, fully gravel, and more level. We were very pleased with our new site and enjoyed the rest of our experience. The access to the PA Turnpike was a great asset. Our kids were really excited when we pulled in and saw the playground and mini golf course, unfortunately it was too cold & windy to play. We were very grateful for the helpfulness of the staff as they quickly helped us through our initial hiccups. As noted by previous reviewers there is a gun club nearby and their activity can be heard during the day. Also if no one is at the gate, you must call on the attached radio and someone will quickly arrive to help.

TT campground in the middle of Dutch Country. The location and the wooded sites are the best part of this campground. Sites are far enough apart to offer privacy and the trees block the highway noise. Verizon is fast enough to work on zoom calls but the Wi-Fi is too slow. Paid version gets 3mbps so save your money. There is a gun club next door, you’ll here a few shots an hour during mid-day, it’s not the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan like some of the other reviews insinuate. If you like biking the Lebanon Valley Rail Trail is only 1.9 miles from the park, it’s a nice 20+mi track through the valley. Also Hershey chocolate world is a must see.

This is a fairly typical Thousand Trails campground -- older facilities with narrow roads and as many sites as possible along them. This was our first visit and though we felt cramped at first, we took a drive around the park and realized we were very lucky to have as much space as we did. Both Verizon and AT&T signals were suitable for work and streaming; there were several OTA channels. Site was full hook-up so we did not use the bathhouses, but can confirm that the laundry room was closed when we were there last month. The staff we encountered were very friendly and the access to the Turnpike was ideal. It was a nice enough park (especially since it was "free"), but we would probably prefer to stay at the Hershey campground when in the area.

Park is kept up nicely, staff seem friendly enough... there is a mixture of permanent resident campers and those just traveling. I was concerned about PA turnpike but never even heard any traffic. I’m a very light sleeper! bathhouses, laundry and pool (empty) closed while we were here (almost post pandemic! Has mini golf, playground, and trading post for supplies. cell service ATT was great, we work full time on road. Sites gravel, most seem level, Hershey World Chocolate is worth visit, 40 mins, not much to do in proximity of campground but each direction you can find hike trails and some pretty awesome mountain bike trails (Swatara State Park, Hershey Medical - check out Trailforks app!). Lancaster you can see a few Amish persons driving and farming in the community. If you like to eat you’ll find Good n Plenty smorgasbord and Bird in Hand seem popular. I probably would not return, simply because “been here done that!”
