Last year, we spent a week at this location and enjoyed it immensely. So, when we spotted an attractive spot by the lake over the weekend, we immediately took it! It's possible that someone else had cancelled their reservation... We particularly love sites 3 and 6. The trails and geocaching are great. It's also convenient to have laundry facilities and a book swap. We happened to be here on a day when the museum waived its admission fee - the pottery exhibition was amazing and quite interesting. It's definitely worth checking out even when there's an entry fee. We noticed that our cell reception was better this year, probably due to our upgraded phones.

Discover this hidden treasure of a state park, located just off US 27 in the southwestern region of Georgia. With only 21 camping spots nestled around a serene lake, there's an abundance of activities to keep you entertained. Approximately half of the camping spots offer stunning views of the water, with sites 18 and above tucked away against dense forests at the rear. Each impeccably clean site is equipped with water, electricity, a picnic table, grill, and fire pit. If you're keen on spending time on the lake, there's a boat launch and a variety of rental options including paddle boats, kayaks, and canoes. A quaint playground is situated within the campground and the day-use area is packed with activities such as mini-golf, a sandy beach, numerous hiking trails, and a well-supplied camp store. Be sure to visit the museum to learn about the Kolomoki culture and the history of the mound excavations! The town of Blakely is roughly 10 minutes away for grocery shopping and a selection of local eateries. Cell service may be spotty in this area, but a stronger signal can be found a few blocks away at the visitor center. Take this opportunity to finish your book or simply breathe in the fresh air!

This is a small quiet campground. The frogs serenade you to sleep at night. The staff only speaks when they are spoken to first. There were a lot of gnats but that is common at this time of year. I wish that Georgia's online reservation system would give the senior discount online but you must request the discount when you check in. The mounds and Native American history was very interesting. We did not walk the trails on this trip because of the heat but plan to walk the trails on our next reservation in November. We enjoyed watching the water and wildlife. The camp sites all look level. If you want water views or camping lakefront, choose sites 1 - 13. Campsites 14 - 24 are nice wooded sites. All the sites were nicely shaded.

Stopped in for a short overnight, heading north to Callaway Gardens from SW Florida. First time here. Beautiful lakefront setting, didn’t get to explore too much, but quiet campsite. Previous site occupant left large piles of dog waste all around the utility pedestal-very rude! Cell service almost nonexistent for both ATT and Verizon.

This is a nice small state park campground. The site was a pull thru but was curved and very narrow even for my small rig. We had a view of the lake and no neighbors. The bath house was closed but they had provided a portable bath house that was nice. There are several hike but we only had time to check out the mounds.

We stayed here at the beginning of January, 2022. I averaged our cost including any reservation fee / tax etc. Our GPS took us down a wet, slippery & muddy road (sometimes that thing...). We had a lakeside site with a great view! Site was long enough so we had plenty of room for our truck. The only bummer was no cell... and we were under a tornado watch - eek! We have T-Mobile and could get cell in the day use area (easy walk) or on the west side of the little dam and at the visitor center. We had a LOT of rain so our campsite got pretty full of water. The camp hosts were awesome - in fact so good, I left them a thank you note. The trails were great - loved the Trillium Trail - the mounds super interesting and if you like to Geocache, we found several in the park. Laundry at the bathhouse (yay!) We loved it here and would definitely stay again - only negative is no cell at the site. Included a video on this campground here - click on the blue video button. Also, if you like wine - Still Pond Vineyards is east of here a bit and had some really nice Muscadine wines.

Site 11 is at the end of the row so you have one neighbor on the services side. You look out over the water and a small beach/swim area. Just got here last night so still learning about the area. Cell reception not very good but we have internet with our Verizon sim and pepwave router and roof antenna. AT&T sim no internet connection.

I stayed here 2 nights in 2017. It is a beautiful park and so much Native American history of the Woodland Indians.

We stayed here for one night part way to another destination and had a beautiful spacious site right on the water. The park is somewhat remote with a bit of a drive to other attractions. The sites had water and electric and the dump station was very easy to access on the way out of the campground. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. We explored the mounds and visited the museum where we watched a video presentation about the former inhabitance of the area. There were some hiking trails through the woods and canoe & kayak rentals available with a boat ramp.

We really loved Kolomoki. The state park is large with a lot of open space. There are many playgrounds, the historic site is incredible, the hiking trails are the perfect length and well maintained. The campground itself is small, but the sites are really well situated to maximize privacy. We were in a “buddy” site that shared space with the neighbor, but we had plenty of room and privacy. Mostly level sites on the smallish side, but I think most were 30+. The lake view is great. The maintenance of the whole park was top notch. There was even one washer & dryer on site. This was the best public park we have ever visited. Verizon was 3 bars, but slow.

There’s only like 4 campers here. Very beautiful and fairly quiet. Campsite 1 is right by the playground which no one told us, but there are no kids playing there tonight! We are sitting beside the lake watching the Purple Martins and swifts catch some of these 7 million skeeters which are trying to eat us. Thank you for repellent! Oh and don’t forget the deafening cicadas! So peaceful. And the fact that there are Indian mounds here make it all the better. We will go on the tour in the AM as the museum closed just after we got here. Very little phone service!

We stayed here for two nights in site 18. This was a very quite campground without a lot of traffic, I think just because it’s a relatively small campground. Site 18 was very private, mostly surrounded by trees. Cell service, at least Verizon was very poor. We did go check out the small museum and climber to the top of the temple mound, which were both fairly interesting.
