About Khomeesdrif Camping Site
At the foothills of the Sonderend Mountains lies a magical place, far from the madding crowd where peace and tranquility abound. A place where the gentle gurgling of the Riviersonderend River, the melody of bird song and the merry crackle of campfires are the only sounds to break the soothing silence. Here we all can drink in the beauty that nature has to offer.
The campsite is situated at the edge of a poplar forest, 7km from the town Riviersonderend in the Overberg and boasts 30 grassed and shaded sites and a spotless ablution block that sports solar powered hot showers backed up by gas, flush toilets and is wheelchair friendly.
The river, meandering at the edge of the site is absolutely exquisite and a fishermans paradise. The gently flowing waters are wonderful to swim in and there are kayaks, canoes and a little row boat as well as inflated tyre tubes so you can peacefully float down the river - a heavenly experience.

Where do we start. The policy here is that you can stand on any site where there isn't a "reserved" sign. We setup camp and later our neighbours arrived at their reserved site and they came over to say that they in fact reserved our site as well. This is difently not the case as their was no sign on our plot. Then more and more people just kept arriving. To the point where there was 12 people on the site next to us but the rules say 4 people per site if I am correct. There is no one on site monitoring that the music isn't too loud. Music was being play till the early ours of the morning. The bathrooms hot water seems to be on a timer of sort. Which makes it very difficult with kids. As soon as the little one is done showering the hot water switches off and then their isn't hot water for the parent to shower. The bathrooms close to the deck smell of sewerage, if you in the toilet or shower. The sites are not clearly marked out so you can't see where the plots begin or end. Dogs roam freely, which I don't normally have a problem with but 3 dogs where bit over the weekend while we where on site. The grass isn't green and the sites are infate sandy. The sights that does have grass the grass hasn't been maintained. The canones provide are cracked and / or fill with water. Fishing takes place at the swim area so you need to keep a eye out for the fishing lines in the water.
