The Georgia State Parks always manage to impress. We stayed at site 204, located directly beside Lake Delanor. We spent evenings by the campfire, taking in the sounds of croaking frogs and the water's reflection. The facilities were well-maintained, including clean bathrooms and shower houses, functional hookups, and a flat camping area. The cell service was adequate enough for me to work and use Zoom, especially with a booster. But there's more to this place than just the basics. It boasts numerous stunning and well-signposted hiking trails, kayak and canoe rentals, and is a short 20-minute drive from FDR's Little White House and the Warm Spring pools, both of which are worth the trip. It lost a star for noise due to a small nearby airport - it's generally quiet, but the occasional low-flying plane can be heard.

We stayed for 2 nights with our 22’ RPod in area 5. We found the hiking trails through wonderful old growth forests. The shower house was exceptionally clean and well maintained. Spacing between sites was good and our site was level. Area 5 is wooded with beautiful trees and plenty of shade. AT&T cellular reception was good. Fire rings were well maintained. Nearby Callaway Gardens is a great vacation destination with so much to do. In the fall, there is a pumpkin festival and they have a magnificent Festival of Lights during the Thanksgiving & Christmas season. We plan to return!

We stayed 3 nights over the Memorial Day Weekend in quiet loop 5. The site itself was perfect - tucked into the trees with no neighbors on our patio side or behind us. Our site had 30 amp service but several on the loop had 50 as well. The roads are narrow but we had no trouble with our little TT. Bigger rigs will need to use caution in some areas, but everyone seemed to do just fine this weekend. Our site had a concrete picnic table in the corner and a fire pit with grill. Some sites had wooden tables instead. Wonderful and well marked hiking trail system with many options for either short hikes or day long treks. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was that the bath house couldn’t keep up with the full campground, many more tenters and pop-ups than they were used to. Twice there was no hot water in the showers and by the last day 3 of the toilets were out of service and the floors/counters were a mess. Not really the parks fault, but knowing the sites would be packed with larger groups it would have been nice to have more regular cleaning. We’re ended up just using our facilities and running the tote to the dump station each day instead.

Nice campsites on a small lake with some nice hikes around the lake. Only thing that I really didn’t like was the firewood was very wet, and there is a lot of dead standing trees that are hazards. There was one on our site that made me nervous as it was right over the site and leaning towards the camper. On our way out we saw another very large dead tree had actually fallen over across 2 sites. Luckily they appeared unoccupied. Bathrooms also outdated.

We stayed on a Feb 2022 weekend with great weather. The bathroom and showers were kept clean and are in a great condition. Due to my forgetfulness, the camping stove was left behind at home. At first, I was ready to drive 30+ minutes to LaGrange to a Walmart to buy one, but I stumbled into Pine Mountain just 5 minutes from the campground. Since it was a short 2 night stay, we just decided to enjoy Pine Mountain's restaurants - be sure to try 3 Pigs BBQ, Unique Expressions Coffee Shop & Cafe, and Eddie Mae's Country Kitchen, if you don't want to cook all meals at camp. We hiked the Wolfden Loop trail and enjoyed the small waterfalls, but there are lots of trails to choose from here. Another good hike is around Dowdell's Knob. Overall we liked this campground and the facilities and would return.

!!! Directions !!! Google maps will take you THROUGH the campground to get to the office. It’s a 9% grade with speed bumps (who does that?!) for about a mile. Not fun. In Google maps type in “FDR Park Office”- then your choice to go around and through the back gate (better route) or go down that hill to camp. Cell: Verizon 6.77 down 0.16 up ATT 61.0 down 4.78 up Didn’t record tmobile but was similar to Verizon No WiFi at camp Camp: all gravel Area 1 has FHU, no shade, sites close together like at an RV park, nearest the lake. Recommend site 101- more private with a great view. Area 2 w/e, shade or partial shade. Private, more spread out. Recommend 206 and 208- door faces a beautiful bubbling creek. Area 3 w/e- has a gravel road getting to it (unlike 1&2 which is paved). A bit pitted and some are not as level. Looks more undone. However site 301 is fantastic. Private pull thru facing the creek. There is no area 4 - why?? Where is area 4? By Area 51? Area 5- w/e entirely shaded, note this is 1/2 mile away from all the trails, lake, activities. It’s very densely wooded. Felt isolated in there. But that may be your thing. Area 6- intended to be tent sites but there is water and electric including 30amp. The tent pad and picnic pad are perfectly level. But the driveway where the car (or camper) would be parked are bumpy and super not level. Face the woods and lovely though. Facilities A camp store at the office and a smaller version at camp has some fun things- ice cream, trinkets, candy. Not on the map but exists- laundry. In each bathroom building. Bathrooms are clean. Trails!! Lots of well marked trails and open areas to walk around in. Boating. Really nice playgrounds- modern, music, it’s awesome. Great stay- adding to my favorites.

This is a classic Civilian Conservation Corps state park located near the Little White House and the Pine Mountain Trail. Staff we met were very friendly and the facilities are in pretty good shape for their age. The restrooms and showers were clean. Budgets are a problem everywhere, but a few small maintenance items would go along way towards improving the park. Our site had some erosion, and during a heavy rain we had about 3 inches of standing water in our site which took the better part of the night to drain off. However, this wouldn’t keep me from going back. We enjoyed visiting Warm Springs and a nearby winery.

This was a nice state park with fantastic hiking nearby. Our site was along the back edge, and level, which we liked. It ended up being kind of a “buddy” site (we were 309, buddies with 308) in that our tables and fire rings were in a shared space. It worked fine, but we didn’t know that. The showers and bathhouse were cleaned regularly and there was cheap laundry.

We arrived at night in a light rain an were able to find our site without trouble. There is a gate code the park called and gave us ahead of time for after 10pm but we got in just before. Our site was on the small lake and well shaded, level and plenty big for our 18’ camper. There are many nice sites with views of the lake and good distance between them. The camp host was friendly and attentive and we were able to buy ice and wood from him and he brought it to us. There is a nice and easy hiking trail right from the campground following a small stream where we saw an amazing array of fungus. Lots of other trails a short drive away. The campground was very clean. There is a playground and saw that there are canoes/kayaks/paddle boats (we did not use) and a few people fishing. The bath house is older but clean and everything worked. Would love to visit again in the spring to see the native azalea and mountain laurel in bloom.

First time here and great experience. We were in the upper loop and while we liked the sites down by the lake, our site was just fine. Fairly level, nice living area and trails close by. Restrooms were kept clean, friendly camp hosts. Park trails connect you directly to Pine Mountain trail so you can hike to your hearts content. Highlight was trip to Little While House and Dowdell's Knob. A must visit for a thorough history of FDR. Pack a lunch and picnic at his favorite spot, Dowdell's Knob. Then you can hike the trails and work off your lunch. Very quiet during the week but come Friday is was packed full with families and kids.
