This is an exceptional camping site situated on a mountain with a breathtaking view of Phoenix. The city manages the campground, providing city water and immaculately clean bathrooms that meet city standards, distributed throughout the expansive park. The Family Campground, located near the peak, offers a stunning view of the city lights and full amenities. The campsites vary, with some offering pull-through access and others requiring back-in. Accommodations range from tents to large rigs. There's also an additional campground and plenty of roadside camping options available, all of which have access to nearby bathrooms, but without hookups. The park is home to numerous towering stove-type cacti and a hiking trail. The staff, including the gate attendants, camp host, and park ranger, were all friendly. This is the most distinctive camping experience we've had, and I can't recommend it enough.

We spent 11 consecutive nights at the family-oriented camping site. The neighboring communal campsite was absurd! They constantly blasted music at high volumes on their sound system, from dawn to well past midnight. There were also loud voices and laughter till the early hours of the morning, leaving no room for tranquility or the enjoyment of the natural surroundings. On a brighter note, the campsite boasted stunning hiking paths, well-maintained washrooms, and comforting hot showers. The calls of coyotes echoed throughout the night, surprisingly close to our location. Plus, the breathtaking sunrises were a sight to behold!

My trip from Kentucky to California has been filled with various accommodations, but none compare to this particular locale. The hiking paths are exceptional. The scenery is breathtaking. The spots at the Willow camping area are fantastic. The bathing facilities and lavatories are top-notch. The environment is serene and stunningly beautiful.

The process of checking in at the gate kiosk was straightforward. There were no additional costs for bringing a car, whether towed or driven, along with your recreational vehicle. The family camping area is a three-mile drive from the gate. The water supply and 50 amp electric connections functioned properly. The campsites are well distributed, with approximately 50 feet space between each. The environment is peaceful, with no noise during the day or night. Campsite D23 offers a stunning mountain view. There is a waste disposal station located on the entrance road. The area boasts numerous excellent hiking trails, including a 10-mile loop that can be accessed from the campground. The campground and its surroundings are adorned with many magnificent, towering saguaros, reaching 20 feet in height. AT&T cell service is decent, with 3-4 bars of 5G. With a booster, streaming was seamless. There are over 100 HDTV channels available, the majority of which had a clear picture.

We stayed in both the developed Family campground and the undeveloped Willow campground. Both of the sites we stayed at were spacious and clean. The Family campground has electricity and water at each site. However, only one shower per gender. The shower facilities at the Willow campground was surprisingly better than the Family campground. The views from both sites were stunning. And so many places to hike at and near the campsites. If we’re in the area again, we would definitely stay here. FYI, it is difficult to get reservations due to it’s popularity.
