A camping area on a level, grassed ridge well above (but with limited views of) a canoe landing point on the Goulburn River, although overlooked by distant farms. Cleared and open with only 2 mature Red Gums there is little shade or privacy.

A very attractive green camp located by the small Hill Creek. The large grassed level camp site is surrounded and shaded by blackwoods and tree ferns and features a large hut and new facilities, backed by steep hills and Mountain Ash forest. Shelter.

A basic free campground, suitable for big rigs. The camping area is right in town (behind the tennis courts/rest area). Taps are provided with town water, flushing toilets and a playground. This campground is right in town, but is pretty quiet most of the time.

Tranquil, dispersed, riverside bush camping in River Red Gum and Black Box open forest with grassy or salt bush understory. Bird life is prolific - waterbirds, cockatoos, galahs, rosellas, parrots and honeyeaters are common.

A pleasant quiet site in open woodland at the foot of the only protruding hill on a flat landscape. The trees and hills are welcome after driving miles over flat farmland. There are two designated, graveled sites (only 1 level) but with free access to the surrounding flats.

Open clearing, used as a school camp excursion. Big open area. Shady tall trees. A nice quiet spot, good for looking at wildlife. I stayed one night and saw 2 stags, a wombat, an emu and a whole bunch of birds. AccessThis campsite is accessable with regular 2wd vehicles.

Large shady river flats on the Swampy Plains River. Camping area stretches from the Alpine Way down and across the river for a couple of km. Excellent facilities- composting toilets, wheelchair friendly. Magnificent views of the main range. Lots of kangaroos, possums and bird life.

A large pleasant area with dispersed sites. Gentle sloping open woodlands extend down to grassed alpine river flats and wooded areas in a broad valley. Reasonable shade provided by Snow Gums over short alpine grass. Features a tin hut and disintegrating horse yards.

Margooya Lagoon Campground

Unfortunately camping is no longer available here. The Margooya lagoons are very attractive, usually full, surrounded by open, mature River Red Gums over broad sweeps of level, short grass. Very plentiful bird life including black swans and ducks. High level access track accessible in most weather.

Yadboro Flats Campground

A popular Bass fishing location and campground on the banks of the Clyde River. Pets allowed in the state forest area (not allowed in the national park adjacent). There is a long, steep (about 10km and rising 800m in altitude) walk up to the top of "The Castle".
