This recreational area is a fantastic deal, however, exercise caution when selecting your spot. I made a phone call to ensure we secured a spot that was adequately sized, based on recommendations from friends who had previously visited. I opted for spot #51, and I'm uncertain if online booking was available at that time. Online, spot #B51 is described as having a "slight" decline. In reality, it was a 3.8% decline while hooked up to the truck. Despite using Big Foot levelers and 7.5" blocking, we were still 0.5% off level. It was acceptable, but something to be aware of. All three axles were elevated, and the asphalt was soft enough that the rear sank. The front was grounded. It was situated on a bend, so reversing between the trees was relatively easy as they were set back sufficiently. The water and electrical posts were conveniently positioned for our vehicle, located centrally where our connections are. The term "waterfront" in the description indicates proximity to the water, but the view is minimal and you have to traverse the forest to reach the marshy border. Spaces are somewhat close together, and there was noise from the train and highway, but it was not disruptive indoors. The bathrooms were a bit old-fashioned and as clean as could be expected, but the warm water supply was depleted on our first use. We suggest turning off the water while lathering and rinsing for better results. We would not advise other loops apart from B for a vehicle of our size, a 45' fifth wheel towed with a Freightliner HDT, totaling 68'. We would consider returning if we needed to stay in the area again, but we would select a different spot. NN Park offers a senior discount, so be sure to inquire about it!

I arrived at this location with a sizable 35-foot 5th wheel and a long-bed pickup truck, securing spot #B48, a BI E/W site, for a nightly rate of $36. The roads and spots were paved with asphalt, but their condition was deplorable, marked by cracks and deteriorating edges. Navigating into my spot was a challenge due to the surrounding trees, a water tap, and severe erosion on the other side of the road, which had a substantial drop. The spot was entirely covered in leaves, requiring me to clear it before parking to identify the asphalt boundaries. I captured some close-up images revealing the deteriorating asphalt. The spot was also significantly inclined, necessitating the use of three planks on one side to achieve balance. Most spots in the park are uneven to some extent. I don't believe they employ a camp host here, though one would be useful, particularly if equipped with a leaf blower. The communal bathroom was visibly aged, with individual shower rooms showing rust at the panel bases. The laundry area had several malfunctioning machines, each costing $1.75 for washing and drying. I had a decent Verizon 5G signal with two bars and a 30.2 Mbps download speed, but there was no Wi-Fi in the camp area, and I didn't check for over-the-air channels. The camp's location by the lake is appealing, but it's marred by excessive road noise and early morning train sounds. For larger vehicles, I would suggest spots on the B loop - 46, 48, 53, 54, 57, and A5, A11, and D101 on other loops. B51 is satisfactory but slopes towards the lake. Approach the dump station slowly as the road is quite uneven. The camp offers convenient access to Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown. Despite its poor condition, I found my stay enjoyable after resolving initial settling issues.

The personnel were extremely hospitable. The grounds are expansive with numerous camping spots. Many of these spots aren't quite flat, so it's advisable to carry leveling blocks. All in all, it was a pleasant encounter.

Check in was smooth, they let us change sites after an issue with the one we booked. Great amenities and relatively clean. We stayed for a few days and enjoyed the archery range, bike paths, and Colonial Williamsburg. This is our second time here. You can’t beat the price for the proximity.

Since it’s a city park you can’t beat the price. The campground is pretty wooded and some sites are right by the lake with great views. You have to call to make a reservation and when you do I definitely recommend asking for level spots only. Some sites are really unlevel but the staff are usually pretty good about steering you towards a level site. The park itself offers over 5 miles of trails that you can access from the campground. A beautiful break from the hustle of Newport News!

I love that this campground has Rangers who are ALWAYS driving around and making sure your always safe and rules are being enforced. I was very happy with the store, especially the nice laundry facilities. I was amazed at the heated bathrooms and being from Florida it was greatly appreciated since I am not used to cold weather. However, I did enjoy the cool weather! Lots of paddle and John boats for rent, bikes too😎 No Inflatables- it’s a beautiful reservoir. I64 conveniently a mile up the road. You will hear some traffic at night due to 64 and Jefferson Ave., also trains🛤 But you will also hear the wind blowing through the trees🍃 Sites are in woods on tar and gravel

Sites are great. Level and spaced well apart. Good access to town but no noise. Nice and quiet nights. Great spot.

The sites were a little close together, however, they are nicely wooded. This is a great campground to use when visiting Williamsburg or Yorktown. If visiting Colonial Williamsburg, you can park your RV at the Visitor Center, and ride the shuttle to the main sights. The parking lot there is huge and was almost empty. The bath houses are just ok. My wife reported horror film levels of black widow spiders in the women's showers. The men's showers were pretty good, with only a few spiders. The shower water volume was fantastic, as was the hot water, and the shower stalls have convenient benches to place your clothes on. We did not try the bike trails, however, saw plenty of cyclists riding through the park. You can take the trails to Yorktown. You can also park your RV in Yorktown at the American Revolution Museum and take the Trolley to the other historic sites.
