Camp Lotus fronts the South Fork of the American River three miles downstream from Coloma. It is nestled in a broad river valley which was inhabited by Maidu Indians for thousands of years before James Marshall's historic gold discovery in 1848. Camp Lotus is in the middle of the Mother Lode Country at 700' elevation, surrounded by grasslands, pines and oaks which are typical of the Sierra Foothills. The immediate campground environment ranges from riparian willows and cottonwoods up through tall pines, oaks, ceanothus, toyon and blackberries. We have 43 campsites and 4 cabin units on 23 acres, allowing ample room for privacy and roaming, wildflowers and river watching.
