Our clan and I lodged here for an extended period while on one of our journeys. This site is extremely hospitable and inviting. On weekends, they organized family activities that we took pleasure in participating in. During the busy season, they had a mobile coffee service and even introduced a food truck serving delicious Cajun food while we were there. Our stay extended into the fall/winter season which was a bit wet. Our camping spot became somewhat muddy, but the staff promptly addressed the issue by adding more gravel to reduce the muddiness. We frequently utilized the walking paths and relished the surrounding natural beauty of the park. This is a camping site that we will nostalgically remember and plan to revisit in the future.

This is a beautiful campground with tons of space for bike riding or walking. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and they have fun events for kids on the weekends. The laundry room has 8 washers ($2/load) and 4 dryers ($.25/8min) and is open 24/7. We stayed in Section A which was **extremely** tight for navigating, parking, and camping, especially with our 43' big rig. 3 people had to move their cars to allow us to back our 5th wheel into our space. We could barely open our awnings without touching the RV in the space next to us. The back of our 5th wheel was less than 3 feet from the camper behind us. On the last 2 nights, we moved to B15 which had plenty of space with an awesome patio setup. Trains come through near the park at all hours of the day and night, using their horn religiously; Not a huge deal but you may get woken up in the night or early morning.

There are shaded and open sky sites here. All are pretty snug with a few exceptions. But we never felt crowded as the surrounding mountains and nearby river make it feel more open. A large gaggle of geese make their home here but don't make a mess. Easy access off US 70 - pay attention as GPS thinks it's just a little farther than it is! Check-in space is limited but process is quick. Guide to your space. Decent interior roads. We had 30 amp FHUs and were able to get satellite from our roof. Their park WiFi connected but didn't do much. Our ATT worked fine for internet. Level dirt and grass space with nice shade tree. Picnic table and fire ring with attached flip grill. Lots for the kids to do with available bikes and peddle-quads that all looked like fun. Nice pool and social pavillion with several planned activities. Dark and quiet at night. We will be back for a longer stay.

We stayed in a partial hookup site on the lake, and liked the view and watching the baby geese. The beautiful Swannanoa River runs right through the campground in addition to two lakes. These sites are way too small and close together though. Fire ring was right behind the camper and not safe to use. Our toad had to be parked sideways in front of the RV in order to get it on the site. Neighbors were up talking under our bedroom windows until after 2 am. After seeing them, I don't know why anybody would want to stay in the more expensive sites that had no view and were packed like sardines. The lake sites are the only option as far as I'm concerned. As mentioned in other comments, the dump station was terribly designed and any larger RV would have great difficulty turning around before or after using it. On the good side, the Blue Ridge Parkway is just a few miles down the road, cell service is excellent, WIFI is good, and there are cable hookups as well.

Get a lake front spot and you won’t be disappointed! This was our second time staying here and it won’t be our last. In fact, this is one of my top 5 favorite parks (and I’ve stayed in hundreds). Beautiful views, fishing and feeding the birds from your campsite, ample room for the kids to play, and plenty of amenities.

It is a well kept park. The lake sites are nice, we stayed a few days in E15. Then we had to move to B27, the B area is not great. No privacy here, right on top of your neighbors. Showers were clean and it has all the amenities that you would expect at a KOA. Close to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Kind of pricey but that seems to be the going rate for the area.

Originally booked into 30 but it didn't even have a tree and was crowded. Went to the office and they happily switched us to 13. Totally different experience. Nice shade trees and the firepit was down by the river and gave us plenty of space. Recommend the river sites. There is a nice walking path all around the campground. Location is 10 minutes from Black Mountain, which right now due to Covid doesn't have much going on. It is about 20 minutes to Asheville. Includes cable, wifi and full hook-up.

Stayed here in mid August for a couple of nights on our way to Grayson Highlands SP to break up the drive from GA. First time trying a KOA. Overall it was very crowded and the sites too close together. I literally couldn’t open my awning without almost touching the trailer next to us. Nor did I feel comfortable using the fire ring for the same reason

Not what we expected. Playground to close to entrance in my mind. Absolutely no privacy where we were, very cramped. Bath house need update. Grass needed cut. It’s a new time for campgrounds- years of neglect are showing in this new age of camping.

Not what we expected. Nice river that flows through the property, but that’s it. The sites are extremely close together, and the park has full time residents that you might be by. We were so close to other spots that we didn’t even open our shades. The only reason we stayed here is all the nicer parks in Asheville had no availability.

The sites around the lakes are very nice. We stayed in section C which is between a lake an a river and it was very picturesque. The only issue with being next to the lake is there is a LOT of goose and duck poop, like everywhere. Not sure there's anything they can do about that but it's inevitable, you're going to step in it. The sites that are not around the lakes are very close and crowded. Wifi was good. Our site had water and electric, no sewer connection, which normally isn't an issue, but that turned out to be a big issue when we left. More below. The facilities were all very clean. They escort you to your site. In general it seems like a nice campground. There is a dump station and it is by far THE WORST dump station I have ever seen. The drain pipe is about 8 inches above the ground and surrounded by a lot of "water" that has nowhere to drain, so there is all kinds of, lets call it "debris", floating around in it. Then there is no way to turn around once your parked at the dump station. DO NOT drive forward thinking you can just drive around the lake, even though there is clearly a road on the map. You'll get about 1/4 of the way around and see a "no vehicles" sign but the turnaround is far to tight for anything more than a small TT. We needed a place last minute and they had sites available, but next time we will probably stay somewhere else.
