We stayed overnight at a campground on May 20, 2023, which cost us $16.75 per night, including utilities like electricity, water, and sewer services. To access electricity, we had to call a particular number and wait for someone to unlock the electrical box. Payment was made by placing the cash in an envelope and depositing it in a drop box located at the City Hall building across the street, situated right behind the post office. On the plus side, this site offered an affordable and flat space for parking overnight, conveniently located just off the I-20 highway. The parking area was relatively clean, although there was some litter near the small dump station. However, there were downsides. The most bothersome were the noise and the odours. The site is located in an oil drilling zone, and the smell was quite overpowering at times. We visited in May, so the nights were cool and we kept our windows open. This meant we were exposed to the noise from O'Brien Street, which is heavily trafficked, including by large trucks. There were also trains that would sound their horns periodically. The noise from the I-20 traffic was audible, and a nearby house had a dog that would bark loudly when let out in the middle of the night. We chose a spot at the back to avoid the street noise, but we didn't account for the bright lot lights. The park is well illuminated, and even the other side, which is a bit darker, has light pollution from the neighbouring park. The noise and light could be mitigated by closing all windows, turning on the air conditioning or fans, and installing blackout curtains on all windows. Another thing to note is that this RV park is mainly occupied by oil workers on long-term stays. The mayor, who unlocked our electrical box, informed us that the park was always full until 2020, but has been fairly empty since the start of the COVID pandemic. The sites

I reached out to a park supervisor named Chris, who was incredibly generous in assisting me with some last-minute lodging needs. He went above and beyond to fulfill my request for an electrical connection. Such a delightful stay! Everything fell into place beautifully!
