The attendant at the small kiosk directed me to the parking area for registration. The registration procedure went smoothly, although they required proof of my dog's rabies vaccination, which I found odd. The designated camping spot was unmarked and difficult to locate, and it was uncomfortably close to another camper. The utilities functioned excellently, and the cable provided a wide variety of channels. The checkout time is 11am, which I thought was rather early. There's a quaint shop on site that sells ice cream. The woman there was extremely friendly. The surroundings were peaceful, with the exception of the occasional plane noise.

Chose the campground due to its proximity to Portland. Our spot was very close to Saco street which is pretty busy. That noise coupled with air traffic from the local airport was a lot. Our site was mostly level and utilities worked well. The restroom and shower facilities were just ok. As mentioned in a previous review, there was an employee sitting in a guard shack near the entrance and told us to bring the IDs of all my guests to check in. Honestly kind of different as the lady at the desk only briefly glanced at them. In addition I had to bring proof of rabies vaccination for my dog at check in. All the check in requirements seemed a lot for a two night stay. Overall, a decent campground if visiting Portland.

Definitely for families with the lake, playgrounds, volleyball, pickleball court, basketball, etc. Oddly, the pickleball court is next to the trash bins, and the main road so better not miss a hit. A nice man meets you as you drive in and directs you to a parking area. He also advises you to have you IDs available (huh?) at check-in and notifies the office that you have arrived. The ladies in the office were very nice and check-in was quick. They give you a map and send you on your way. Most roads are dirt. The main road is paved but that’s it. The roads are wide so maneuvering around is easy. All cars were parked well off the interior roads. Most sites are seasonal, some in good shape, others not so much. The placement of many of the RVs is like a puzzle so it appears disheveled. Not even sure how they got the RVs in there. The map they give you isn’t to scale or even correct. Our site was not where it was indicated on the map – which ended up being a good thing. We were able to pull straight into our site. It’s just dirt and we could see where mud had formed from previous rain. And the dirt was very attracted to the bottom of our shoes. The site was level overall and we were able to use our air levelers. We were parked under pine trees so I suspect we brought a few souvenirs with us. The space between sites varies widely. Satellite is possible in a few sites that are in the open. They have cable but we didn’t try it. The WI-FI did not work. Verizon was 1-2 bars but our hot spots acted wonky. The park is three miles from Portland airport so airplanes are just overhead quite frequently. They start early – before 6:00 AM. There is also road noise from Saco street which stays pretty busy. This place reminds me of the camp in Dirty Dancing which is too campy for us.

We wanted to find a nice place for a weeks stay that would be convenient to Portland and Kennebunkport and thankfully, despite it being Labor Day weekend, we were able to find that at Wassamki Springs. Pros: The park is very spacious with a nice large pond that you can fish, swim, or boat in. Sites were fairly spacious for the most part, though I did see some that were a little tighter. They have a game room with pool tables and other games and even a jukebox and they offer things like a weekly bingo night and Sunday breakfast in it. One unique thing that I liked was that each spot had multiple faucet hookups which may not always be necessary but it was a nice thing to have when we needed to run water outside without having to unhook our hose pipe. Each site came with a fire ring and picnic table which are always nice to have. Also, most sites were pretty well shaded. Cons: Phone and internet service were not very good at all. We have Verizon and were barely able to use it. And their wi-fi was basically useless. Thankfully we had our Verizon jet pack hotspot that we were able to work off of, though even that didn’t work great all the time. Each site offered cable but for whatever reason ours didn’t work so I’m not sure if that was for the whole campground or just our site. All of the sites were just dirt which is not a huge deal but it can obviously get messy, especially when it rains. Overall: This was a very good campground with a lot to offer. There are a lot of seasonal or full time campers there so some sites are a little junky because of that but for the most part it looks pretty clean. You also have to have proof of rabies vaccination for any of your dogs so be prepared for that. But overall this was a good campground for all age groups and couples or families and it’s just a few minutes from downtown Portland so very convenient to a lot of stuff!

Would, and will, definitely stay here again. Very nice, quiet park with a swimmable lake. Nice location if you want to take in the sights in and around Portland. Good laundry facility. We did not use the showers. Very large park with a number of seasonal and semi permanent sites.
