This camping ground is pleasantly forested. The spacing between some pitches can be a little tight, but it's still a lovely place. It's a primitive camping site without any utilities, and due to the large, beautiful trees, harnessing solar power to recharge your batteries might be challenging.

This park was really nice overall. It's very large with something like 300 sites. Unlike other thousand trails parks, you are assigned a spot at check in. I believe this is because there seem to be different tiers of sites for people who are paying for them, as well as a ton of long-term sites. Our site was kind of tight for our rig at 39ft and had a lot of mud/dirt and some low hanging branches, so you might want to check out your site ahead of going to park. However, the park itself was very nice. It had a large sized dog park, a river you could float or kayak down, tons of activities all week, golf carts to rent, a large store, and shuttles to Lake George Village. One note though, the back of our site was COVERED in poison ivy, which I didn't realize until I was also covered in rashes, so keep an eye out. I would definitely return. I would suggest trying to arrive mid week if possible because the roads are pretty tight and not considered one way. As most campgrounds, it fills up on the weekend and can get a bit rough to navigate with how many people are coming in and speeding around on golf carts. The regular sites do not have sewer (although there seemed to be a newer section that had them), but there is a dump station at the park. Service for ATT wasn't great (best closest to the main office), but I was able to work ok with some trouble during video calls. I also tried going into town to get better service, but it was spotty there as well. (2.49 download, 0.2 upload)

This is a nice campground that is within walking distance of the major attractions in Lake George. The campground staff are very friendly and keep the campsites clean. We stayed in site 16 but the other sites towards the rear of the campground are quieter. The bathhouse is very nice and they have good hot showers. The sites have no electricity or water hook ups.

Site 16 is one of the larger sites, 20 also. Near the front of the campground the noise is loud. Nice you can exit the back of the CG and get to the state park picnic area and large grass park. Right across the road is a dog beach. Easy walking to town. Free wood. Nice bathrooms and showers. New visitor center out the back of the CG past the dump station. Only one dump. Million dollar beach was closed probably opening Memorial Day. Charge at CG was $5 more for out of state people. Had to show rabies certificate for our two puppies.

I'll preface this by saying, we've been on the road full time for over two years and have stayed at quite a few campgrounds. So what we look for in a campground, isn't the same as someone who's just going out for the weekend. In short, you couldn't pay us enough money to return here again. We arrived in the afternoon on a Friday, and they placed us in between two cabins that were being rented. On one side there was a party of about 12 people, playing Latin pop. On the other side, a party of about 10 people playing reggae music. Even with our A/C on, the music and noise was relentless. You walked out into zero privacy, with each party just 15 feet away with no barrier in between. We've never demanded to be moved before; we have pretty thick skin. But there was no way in the world we'd last here at this spot for the week, trying to work, and live a normal life. They gave us a few options and thankfully we found a quiet spot in the 500 loop of the campground. No cabins here, just all RV'ers, which are generally respectful for the most part. The site wasn't level, was next to a stagnant pond, was infested with mosquitoes, but was better than where they stuck us before. The rest of the week, generally speaking, wasn't bad in our section of the campground. But the whole place remained busy. It's SO LARGE and there are so many people. Lots of very, very loud music, lots of very large parties of people despite their "ban" on groups of 6 or more. They never enforced any of their rules. In talking with management, they gave me the impression that there's nothing that they can do. The place is just too big, and so their rules are unenforceable. Lake George itself is beautiful, but packed with boats. There are some wonderful hikes in the area (Sleeping Beauty, and Shelving Rock), but for the love of all things don't head downtown into Lake George Village unless it's 5 AM. We tried, many times, to walk the shops but we could never find a place to park. Even at 10 AM the place was completely packed. We have our own internet and it was bogged down at times (AT&T and Verizon both) but both generally held pretty well throughout the week (this campground offers no WIFI). At any rate, take the review with a grain of salt and again, consider the source (full time rv'ers).

This park has exactly two things going for it: 1) it’s super close to the village of Lake George. We walked to everything. Traffic and parking looked to be a nightmare in town. 2) it’s probably the cheapest place to stay on the south end of Lake George. Otherwise this is a pretty mediocre state park. There are very few RV sites and some with tight back-ins. The sites vary in size but most are small and close together. We stayed in site 34, which was a nice width, but not deep enough for the trailer and truck. 46 looked to be the best site for an RV. Arrive with full water tanks if possible. They have water around camp but no way to hook up a hose and the dump station spout is very suspect. The dump station also was closed due to over flowing by 10:30 AM on our Monday checkout. We went 10 miles south on 87 and paid $8 to dump at Moreau Lake State Park.

Sites are super tight to back into and are even tighter with cars parked close to camp roads. This was Friday of a holiday weekend, so this may not be normal. We ultimately just pulled straight into our site and then backed in the following morning. We asked a few cars to move temporarily so we could get backed in. Everyone was super nice and happy to help. Bathroom and showers were clean and front desk staff was super nice. AT&T signal was strong. Camped with a 29’ trail trailer. If you want a campground close to town and to experience all Lake George has to offer, then this is a great campground. This was our goal and we had a awesome time shopping in the village, rented a pontoon boat, road the steam boat, wine tasting for adults, arcade for kids, touring the fort, and visiting the local museum.
