The team was incredibly accommodating and delightful. The location was neat, and the washrooms, including the showers, were impeccably clean.

I neglected to use Google Earth prior to making my booking, otherwise, I might have noticed the proximity of our campsite to Highway 71. This was our fourth visit to a Texas State Park in just over a fortnight, and I had assumed Bastrop would be as secluded as the previous ones. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. The motorway is quite close, and the noise is quite audible in our motorhome, even at 9pm. The staff at the park's headquarters were very professional and accommodating, and they even have a gift shop that sells Blue Bell ice cream. The park boasts several short hiking trails, playgrounds for children, and a swimming pool during the summer months. The park's roads are narrow and the 30mph speed limit feels a bit too high, to be honest! We were nearly hit by both a motorcyclist and a bicyclist during a walk along the road, so I'd recommend sticking to the trails. The campsite loops are well-maintained and clean, but some of the sites are a bit too close together, and our sewage hookup was about 30 feet away from our connection point. As a result, I decided to use the dump station the following day when we left, rather than running three lengths of sewage hose over the ground for just one night. The bathrooms are clean and relatively new, and they come with showers. We stayed at a full hook-up site in the Cooperas Creek Camping Area loop, but next time, I'd prefer the Piney Hill Camping Area loop, sites 1 - 25, as they're a bit further away from the highway.

It’s clean and inexpensive. Bathrooms are good. There’s several trails (no water source along them, bring a lot of water. It’s hecka hot and dry here) Having said that, the road noise is severe. 24/7 freeway noise with 18 wheelers using Jake brakes day and night. If you are looking for a solitude getaway, this is not the place. You might as well camp along the airport. It may actually worsen your stress level. Sigh. We won’t come again due to noise.

We would love to stay longer and do more fishing, paddle boarding, hiking and kayaking. So excited to be here. Full hook ups for $18.5. Such a deal. We can hear the highway as we are on the ridge line which is the only bad part of our experience. But it’s not obnoxious- just present! Just 15 minutes from town which is an hour outside of Austin. Nice hiking in the park.

We reserved in tent area near the RV area because we have a camper van and this was all that was available. We’re used to SP’s having nice parking area for site. Both RV and tent areas are like parking lots with some grass for picnic table and fire ring. We didn’t stay. Would be good for kids and hiking but not what we were looking for.

Although not as scenic as it used to be due to fires and floods, it is still a nice place to camp, hike, and swim. Roads are easy to navigate, and most sites are easy to get into and out of. Utilities are well placed and work well. Restrooms are new and clean. OTA TV reception is good, and Verizon cell service is strong. There is traffic noise from the nearby highways. If you don't feel like cooking, the Roadhouse Bastrop restaurant is just outside the park entrance and has excellent food.

We arrived last night around dark. Our reservation was a pull thru with full hookups. No attendant was on duty, but we had pre-registered online, and had no problem driving straight to our site, following the well placed signs. The sit had a little slope to it but no real challenge getting level. All connections were well placed so no extra hoses or cords were needed at all. Numerous over-the-air tv stations are available and my AT&T phone has 3 bars of 5G signal. This is a nice park with plenty of nice sites for campers and tenters. I would recommend it, and we would definitely return. Bucee’s, HEB, and WalMart are nearby… what else could you need? 3 Bars of AT&T 5G!!

This Texas state park was our saving grace during Texas’ ice storm in February. We normally boondock/stay off grid for 98% of our full time living; but as we watched the weather and knew this crazy storm was coming we knew we wanted to be some place safe. We pulled in on Saturday afternoon into a pull through spot - 19- it was awesome and big and had a great view! That night it started snowing ice and the next morning we got a knock on our door from the ranger. He said they were closing the park until the following Friday and that they were asking everyone to leave- that couldn’t be self sufficient for 7 days. Lucky for us we are used to living off grid and he said we were welcome to stay! He said that the water and power might be spotty but to feel free to try it if we wanted. This ranger was a rockstar and true salt of the earth! He checked on us everyday (there were only 3 of us campers that ended up staying through this storm). We were so blessed! Despite the rest of Texas running out of water and power - we had extra water and power/propane to supply our heater. We were ready for the storm! And we were grateful for the ranger and Bastrop state park for letting us stay and be safe during that crazy ice storm! We will definitely be back- when the weather is warm 😂☺️

This is not a huge park, but it does offer clean sites, hiking and is near the city of Bastrop. We stayed in the Copperas Creek campground in site 73. Our rig is 31’ and due to rocks lining the road and site it was a little tricky for us newbies getting in there. We could also hear traffic at all times of the day and night. Site 76 is large and looks easier to get in to.
