Nice park friendly people no cell service for AT&T and T-Mobile and the wifi that they offer is not great, you can’t get it on your fire stick or smart tvs so plan on being mostly off grid.

This place is gross. I’m older so I’ve seen some things but this is gross. Maybe okay in your own RV or tent. (Not for the price though) office kid with curly hair He’s RUDE) older fella in maintenance, also rude. None of them seem to care about good customer service and act like basic questions are a bother to them. I’ve stayed here a few times during passing for work. Will no longer do this. Cabins are disgusting and run down. They are doing “improvements” when it comes to decking and kids play area. The cabins (on wheels) need to be knocked down and redone. Smells like ashtray and septic. Cabins are so close and parking is a nightmare if they get busy. Fire pits are right next to cabins and vehicles, it’s just not safe. I am surprised they are allowed to have that little space for firePit and building and vehicle. I think they are “duct taping” these cabins when they should be replaced. For what they are charging that is. You might as well stay at a nice hotel or anywhere for the amount they ask for. Lakes... is a joke. More like farm ponds and septic ponds. Spend your money elsewhere. If WiFi is important, you get kicked out several times so you have to keep logging back in & cell service is very limited. If I could give 0 stars I would

I would give this place a zero MINUS if I could. We drove 40 mins on 8/9 to check out sites and reserve spot. They were busy, not enough help. They have me map with available sites to check out. I selected site 150 as it had shade and near dog park. I went back to office told them I wanted to reserve #150. We were only going to stay 2 nights but the lady said during busy times we needed to stay 3. So I reserved it for 3 days starting yesterday. She made copy of my DL and I paid a deposit. She was scatter brained so I clarified we were set up for 3 nights, site 150 and she took my CC and placed deposit against. We bought a new to us motor home and wanted to camp close to home and try everything out. My husband drove ahead in motorhome with dogs and I stopped at grocery store and met him there. When I got there the motorhome was crammed into a tiny spot a few sites from one we reserved. The guys awning next to us was touching our camper. We were parked to close to brush to let out our awning. I went up to the office and complained. New lady said there was nothing showing we had reserved specific spot, she wouldn’t make people occupying our spot move because they were checked in. She gave me list of available sites and guy took me in golf cart to view them. She upgraded us to site 25 which was premium because it was paved. We get parked and the 30amp plug in was jacked up. I went back up to office and asked for a 50 to 30 amp dog bone. They don’t have so we decided to move to back row of park, gravel site but secluded. The guy who took me around in cart shows up with the 50 to 30 amp dog bone as soon as we are plugged into 3rd site. We told him we would just stay where we were. Tired, hot, hungry. Slept overnight and felt better, finished completely setting up and new worker comes by on golf cart. Says he is Ass Manager heard we had issues. I thought he was there to apologize but NO he was there to tell us we needed to move a 4th time because somebody had already reserved the spot we were at. We had a very heated exchanged, I made him get me the owners info and phone number and complete refund and we left. I called and left VM at the number he gave me. That was 6 hours ago. Owners live in GA and campground in MO. I do not recommend this place to anyone. Either their computer system is difficult or their employees are incompetent. It took me 20 mins to reserve the spot initially after I had picked out the spot and reserved everything. My husband said it took another 20 mins to check in at the office upon arrival. Complete disaster. I thought showing up in person way in advance to reserve everything wound ensure a smooth checkin, boy was I ever wrong. From now on I will require what site we are getting in writing or email. We are now sitting in our camper in our driveway having adult beverages.

Looked at tons of campgrounds to try and find a place suitable for the kids. The photos looked great but this place has not had updated photos in a while I think. amazing playground was actually quite broken as you will see from the pictures. And in my opinion as a mom dangerous. When I called to ask about the campground playground they said nothing of this. Sites are tightly packed and could use leveling, new gravel, and trees trimmed away from slides.

The title says it all. Yes it has a fishing ponds, a pool, and an outdoor movie theater, but overall it feels a little trashy. They have A LOT of full timers and even though they are separated, it makes for a trashy feel. The bath house was just OK and actual site we had was super close and did not really have much to offer as far as grass or comfort. It, however was not all bad. Most of the siteS are pull through and they are pretty flat. One cool thing was they have an employee escort you to tour spot, which I thought was cool because it saved me time getting into the spot. They only have very few paved spots, however. The WiFi was solid and allowed us to stream movies and cell service for AT&T and Verizon was decent. The bottom line is that it definitely is not the nicest and I think it is overpriced, however there are not many options in the area and they know it so I don’t expect it to get better anytime soon

Basswood is quite a ways from the freeway, the sites are very close together, and it was fairly expensive so we would probably not camp here again. If you are looking for a site for weekend with your family this might be perfect for you. It was close enough to Kansas City, about a half hour to city center, that we were able to take advantage of all the city has to offer but there isn't much to do near the campground. Most of the sites are so close together, it looks more like a parking lot than a campground. We paid for a deluxe site which turned out to be two sites since the water outlet on ours was broken and they gave us an extension for our hose and we were able to set up our chairs etc in the adjoining site. As the previous review commented, the campground is in the flight path of the KCI Airport and depending on the weather and/or time of day we had multiply planes overhead. Also, we agree with all of the other comments by previous reviewer.

Go That Road

Welcome to MO where the backroads are like rollercoasters and you'll be lucky to not come in contact with heavy farm equipment coming at you from the opposite direction with no shoulder to hug. So begins the drive to Basswood Resort. Fun in a sports car? Absolutely! In a widebody bus? Not so much. You climb up a long, meandering hill to get to the office. Note: the whole campground is very hilly - great for marathon training. Check-in was easy, polite. Large store inside with some necessary grocery items, a wine selection, beer and malt beverage selection. You can also order up a pizza here. If you would like, a golf cart chaperone will help you to your site. Another narrow (one way, but designated as a two way), steep climb up to our campsite. There is NO WAY that two RV units (or vehicles) could pass each other on that approach. Somebody would have to back up on that narrow, steep, drop-off-on-one-side road. We passed many seasonal units packed in like sardines once we reached the top of the hill. Seriously packed in. This is a predominantly full-timer park with loose rules for said residents as far as site cleanliness is concerned. Vehicles parked out in the road. It was very tight in some places. We were originally supposed to be in site 133, however, when we found it, it was one of the sardined sites. No room to put out the awning/no privacy. Also, site 132 had junk scattered all over between the two sites. Asked to be placed in 135 when we saw it empty. By far, in our estimation, the best site in the place - we walked the whole campground every morning. The 50amp pull-thru sites looked okay. Our site was kind of off by itself. A back-in site, very private, nobody to our starboard, and heavy vegetation for privacy from site 134 on our port. It overlooked a pond/swamp and the frogs singing at night were wonderful to listen to. This is a heavily wooded campground. It's actually quite pretty, almost State Park-like, except for site spacing. Our site was not level. It was soft gravel and because of recent rain, soft mud. It took many levelers and pads to get somewhat level. Good water pressure and 50 amp. Good stargazing here. This is a fishing paradise with several stocked fishing ponds. This campground is in the direct flight path of the Kansas City International Airport - specifically, Southwest Airline's flight path. As the crow flies, you are maybe 5 miles from the airport. There is a plane directly overhead, flying low for landing, every 15 - 30 minutes during the day and every hour at night. This messed with our phone calls quite a bit. Smithville to the east has an awesome little restaurant called Justus Drugstore - A Restaurant. Be sure to check it out! Downtown KC is about a 25 minute drive. Because of the flight traffic noise, and lack of good cell coverage due to said flight path, we couldn't stay here again. For people looking for a true camping experience with smores, fishing, family time, and partying, this is your place.
