Pleasant bush camping on broad open grassed banks extending along Murphy Creek, a Murray River anabranch. Accessand some sites are above most flood levels.

An extended, open, level, well grassed (slashed) reserve along the Macalister River. Overlooked by the Licola Rd. Faces steep rocky, forested hills. Some shade provided by a few tall Gippsland Red Gums and Southern Blue Gums. Rated 3. 6/5AccessThis site is accessable by caravans in good weather.

A pleasant quiet site in open woodland at the foot of the only protruding hill on a flat landscape. The trees and hills are welcome after driving miles over flat farmland. There are two designated, graveled sites (only 1 level) but with free access to the surrounding flats.

A pleasant, large, flat, grassed (slashed) camp beside the rushing upper Goulburn River. All sites level, most shaded by Mountain Ash, Blackwood and wattles. A well developed camp, popular at peak periods. Rated 3. 9/5 The last camp before the Woods Point Rd leaves the Goulburn River (and fishing).

Dead River Beach Campground

Dead River Beach has an extended beach backed by a green grassed level bank shaded by stands of immature River Red Gums. It continues around into an old horseshoe bend which the river now bypasses (land to the west, on the new south bank of the Murray, is in NSW).

Dispersed bush camping in River Red Gum and Black Box floodplain woodland with patches of saline scrubland. Popular (sites bare, tracks may be rutted). Sites level and generally shaded. High sandy river banks with few beaches. River is broad, height being maintained by the lock.

A large gently sloping old forestry camp shaded by Yellow Gum, Brown Stringybark or cypress pines and well grassed. Some sites are within a mature pine plantation. Sites are well dispersed, most well off the low use tourist road and many separated by Thryptomene and Tea-tree.

A reasonably large rest area under large River Red Gums with some broom scrub understory, on the high bank of the Murray River. Observable from highway, house nearby. Rated 3. 3/5AccessThis site is accessable by caravans in good weather.

This is one of the larger campgrounds in the Upper Big River State Forest, suitable for group camping and small caravans. This campground is one of the main (read popular) campgrounds in this area and can get quite busy during holidays.

Waanyarra , Victoria

A grassed creek flat surrounded by White Ironbark forest with a thin understudy of wattle and brush, wildflowers and old gold diggings with Grey Box and Red Ironbark on the flinty ridges. This a pleasant, quiet site in spring and autumn, although it may be hot and dusty in summer.

Nash Creek Campground

Tonimbuk , Victoria

A small grassed clearing in a gully by little Nash Creek, well shaded by Manna Gum, Peppermint, Stringybark and Blackwood with Tea-tree scrub and tree-fern understory. This is the most attractive, green, secluded (and now the only) camp ground in the Bunyip State Park. Rated 4.

Jane Duff Park Campground

Mitre , Victoria

A very large reserve (28ha) with dispersed sites shaded by a woodland of Yellow Gum (White Ironbark), Brown Stringybark and Long-leaved Box (Bundy) with a thin understory of wattles and some grass over gravel. There are 4 very dispersed fireplaces and tables, a couple well off the road.

Dispersed bush camping on short green grass by the Murray River surrounded by flood plain forest - River Red Gum, billabongs and swamps. Low level banks, no beach, informal boat ramp. A relatively small, quiet, pleasant reserve with prolific bird life and grazing cattle.

Dispersed, quiet, riverside bush camping under immature River Red Gum backed by stunted Black Box forests and saline scrubland. Limited number of level sites. River bank sandy, few beaches. Broad river height maintained by locks.
