A new camp ground established on a forested hillside well above the Latrobe River. Past the picnic area (1 shelter, BBQ, 4 benches) a gravelled circuit drive leads to 3 dispersed cul-de-sac clearings and a parking area.

Suitable for car based camping, near the Big River in the Upper Big River State Forest in VictoriaThis is a basic bush camp with fire places but no toilets. Being near the river it is a good spot to base for fishing (or swimming in warmer weather).

Easily accessible campground about 1km from Melville CavesBeing at the end of a bitumen stretch and not too far from town, you occasionally get the odd yob out here, however it is a nice spot most of the time. There are rainwater tanks and large grassed and shady campsites.

A large open woodland area adjacent to historic Maldon, at the base of Mt Tarrengower. Dispersed camping in the open gully behind the day area. Some shade from scattered Manna (Ribbony) Gum, Yellow Gum, Broad-leaved Peppermint and Grey Box over grass and granite boulders.

Brooks Cutting Reserve Campground

A camping area on a level, grassed ridge well above (but with limited views of) a canoe landing point on the Goulburn River, although overlooked by distant farms. Cleared and open with only 2 mature Red Gums there is little shade or privacy.

A medium sized, level, short grassed ridge top site adjacent to the historic town site clearing. Shaded by white trunked Mountain Gum and Peppermint, surrounded by dense montain forest and mountain views. A pleasant, quiet, isolated camp. Historic townsite well signed. Rated 4.

A pleasant, grassed (slashed), gently sloping picnic ground, shaded by Yellow Stringybark and white trunked Mountain Grey Gums by a swampy water hole surrounded by wattle and green bush. The fenced 4 tables & BBQs are across the access road from the parking area - best for tent camping.

A very attractive green camp located by the small Hill Creek. The large grassed level camp site is surrounded and shaded by blackwoods and tree ferns and features a large hut and new facilities, backed by steep hills and Mountain Ash forest. Shelter.

Rosedale , Victoria

A broad grassed (mown) river flat just off the highway with some shade trees (scattered willows and wattles) by the Latrobe River (polluted). A large shelter contains open fireplaces but firewood is limited. A pleasant, large park but overlooked by the noisy Princes Hwy.

A large pleasant area with dispersed sites. Gentle sloping open woodlands extend down to grassed alpine river flats and wooded areas in a broad valley. Reasonable shade provided by Snow Gums over short alpine grass. Features a tin hut and disintegrating horse yards.

Toombullup East Campground

Tolmie , Victoria

Open clearing, used as a school camp excursion. Big open area. Shady tall trees. A nice quiet spot, good for looking at wildlife. I stayed one night and saw 2 stags, a wombat, an emu and a whole bunch of birds. AccessThis campsite is accessable with regular 2wd vehicles.

Nyah Recreation Reserve Campground

Nyah , Victoria

On the banks of the Murray River with shady or sunny sites suitable for caravans or motorhomes but no tents allowed. There is easy access to the river for kayaks or small boats via a dirt boat ramp (would be suitable for most tinnies). Sites are mostly grassy with large eucalypts for shade.

Yet another great free campground along this stretch of the Dargo River. Set amongst native treees, surrounded by low hills and right on the banks of the crystal clear Dargo River.
