location was great but other reviews about being on top of your neighbor are accurate! Also, the sites are not level at all and dropping the jacks on our motorhome lifted the rear wheels off the ground just to level the coach; since this is not a viable option we ended up re-leveling manually and being "kinda level"... the river is cool and you're walking distance to town but when we go back I will likely look for a different park with more space and a level site.

I wouldn't have loved this campground so much if I were not by the river. Although getting down there is a little scary, it ended up being fine. The beautifully clear Comal river allowed some good fish spotting. The staff was friendly. The rest rooms and showers were nice. There is a waterfall just down the way. I love the off season.

It is the holiday season and we are near to grandmother's house for Christmas. My stepdad asked me why we picked the ugliest campground in town but I don't think it is. First, the price is right. Full hookups, near the water, cable and only $20/night. We opted to be right on the Comal river and are directly behind the Wurstfest building and the playground area of Landa Park. Walking distance to New Braunfels historic town center. The drive to your spot is SKETCHY, so go SLOW. Potholes and torn up roads and a crazy downhill slope gave us all anxiety so button down the hatches! NO wifi near the river. There IS a train, I hear it maybe once every two hours and it isn't that bad since they don't blow the horn in town anymore, unless maybe if there are deer on the tracks. They have bathrooms that I have not used and a small laundry area with 3 washers and 2 dryers. Not awful, not wonderful but it works and we are good with it. Neighbors have all been very pleasant and warm. I WOULD NOT CAMP HERE IN THE SUMMER. Dealing with vacationing young people tubing the river would be awful and I am not surprised by horrible reviews that time of year.

There are times in an aging man's life when he must admit that convenience is as astute a desire as scenery. A naturalist at heart, I prefer the pristine surroundings of not stumbling out of my rig to land on my neighbors sewer pipe. The lover of music and alcohol in me, however, can appreciate the short walk to a small Texan town with a bar as fabulous as the Pour Haus, and coffee shops galore should the morning prove too rough to tolerate the notion of back to back rv spots. A river spot, certainly, would have changed my perception, but alas, previous indiscretions had left me with toddlers, and I feared for their safety, so I and mine landed in the upper RV parking lot. Still, the thought of one day returning, riverside in spacious spots, with a campfire as I watched spring breakers float the river by day and again returned to that fabulous small town Main Street (albeit amongst a sea of endless strip mall surrounding) brings me much hope for my future with this park. Also, I personally did not mind the endless chatter of trains as they clicked their clacks and whistled warnings all the day, all the night long, and I mean that with sincerity, but others' opinions may vary.
