The journey from Tillamook to this place might fill you with uncertainty about what awaits. But once you reach, you'll find yourself amidst a stunning park nestled within a forest. The beach is conveniently nearby and surprisingly devoid of crowds. The sky is as clear as you could ever wish for, barring the occasional rain. We're truly delighted we made the trip. The town is also easily accessible, should you need anything.

Camped in a 16foot travel trailer with 2 adults, 2 dogs in mid-October, 2022. The campground was about 50% full. Fellow campers were friendly and quiet, and most had dogs. All seemed respectful of keeping dogs on leash and cleaning up after them. Very friendly staff and saw daily upkeep of campsites. Great dog friendly beach that is only steps away from campsite C4. Bonus that campground maintains dog poop station at beach entrance. Very quiet at night and can hear the ocean lull you to sleep. Good ATT cell service. Dump station was very nice. Did not use bathrooms or showers. Tillamook is about 15 minutes away and has all the amenities you need. Lincoln City to the south is a fun place to visit and if you can get to depoe bay, it is well worth taking an hour whale watching boat ride.

Cape Lookout State Park, about 20 miles southwest of Tillamook, has a beautiful beach. In late June we were able to get reservations over a weekend less than four days in advance. Narrow access road and 90 degree driveway, but hedge privacy from other sites and no overhead shade, just in case the sun comes out to warm things up. I didn't make any notes about cell access.

We stayed at Cape Lookout twice in the summer of 2014, with and without reservations. Both times were great— location (B06 and B16), weather and access to one of the prettiest, walkable beaches in Oregon. It's a big park with four loops, each with its own personality. You'll be able to find something for everyone here. And if your neighbors (or their de-barked basset hounds) drive you crazy, just go take a walk on the beach! Very level, large spots, with privacy made possible via hedges and shrubbery. Not quite as clean as some Oregon State Parks but one this size would be hard to keep up with. Very friendly staff. Great hiking to the south (Cape Lookout). We didn't have hookups either time but water was available nearby. Hot showers and bathrooms are in each loop. In 2013, we rented the "Nestucca" cabin in January and were delighted with 70 degree weather. We also had an excellent weekend in a yurt about 8 years ago in November.

Coming back to Oregon coast. Really liked the access to beach, trails and town. Sites are close in this loop but ours was private with vegetation. Clean. Hookups. ATT coverage ok not great, showers and flush toilets great. Only thing we thought was odd our picnic table and fire pit were on the side opposite our door so not as accessible

This is a beautiful park about 15 minutes outside Tillamook in case of needed supplies or visiting Tillamook cheese factory. Park is very well kept per Oregon State Park standards. Miles of beach to explore. Fishing and shellfish harvesting galore. Being an older park campsites for larger RVs and trailers are limited due to narrow driveways and bulk of the trailer sites perpendicular to the driveway. Most of the campground is tent sites. All hookup sites are very close together and therefore have little or no privacy. C loop is forested, the others are mostly open. No sites have ocean views due to the embankment separating the campground and beach. A nice place for those interested in beach and ocean access.

Stayed the end of May 2015. This park is mostly a tent and dry camping location. I opted for a full hookup site as I was new using my trailer which put me right next to the bathrooms in a tight and seriously unlevel site (which became even more apparent with the advent of 2 days of rain creating a lake right outside my door). Sites towards the end of the A loop had shade and it appears you could dry camp with small trailers or vehicles even though they show as tent sites. None of the other RV sites are shaded at all and the barrier between sites is maybe 10' wide with some short scrub brush between them and it was the most cramped (side to side) OR State Park I've stayed at. Access to the beach was just over the dune and the beach was amazing as was the marshland at the end of the park. Great for long walks and wild bird watching. It is also just a short drive to the trails to get out to the actual Cape Lookout. Cannot speak to the cleanliness of the buildings but will say that the rangers at the check in station were very nice, courteous and helpful. Be aware that the highway to get to this park is narrow, winding and extremely rough (and I come from the mountains). It is located well for the areas wonders and it IS nice to be right on the beach, however, getting anywhere is not a quick adventure (including running to Tillamook for supplies) as the roads are narrow and busy - especially Highway 101 in this area. I don't remember having any Verizon coverage but that could just be my bad memory! :) Even though I wouldn't pick this spot again, if you want to explore the northern OR coast it is your best bet and I would recommend it based on that.

This is an easy campground to get to from Portland and we come here often. You can't see the ocean from the campground, but you can hear it, and it's a just a climb over a small dune to get to a looooong and beautiful beach. There are sites with full hookups in the trees, and dry sites in the sun. Some of the dry sites are close together, but some have shrubs and are angled in ways to provide privacy. When reserving a dry site, pay attention to the pad length, as some are quite short. The road to the campground has some sharp turns, but everyone goes slow and it's a lovely drive. For those of us with low hitch shanks and sway bars - the speed bumps here are no joke! Go super slow until you know you can clear. The D loop has some bumps with gouges in them that look a lot like my hitch shank. The hike to the end of the cape is absolutely stunning.

Definitely dedicated to tenters and small RVs. But there are a handful of spots available that fit our 19 foot Airstream, and the full hookup can't be beat!. The camp is a little crowded, but the beach is expansive and the hiking in the hills right from the campground is quite nice, although on a sunny Sunday, the trails are extremely crowded. As previously noted, the road in is rough condition with many potholes.

We have a 40 ft. 5th wheel and although we fit in our site, I wouldn't say this campground is very suitable for big rigs. It's difficult to drive through the loops with a larger RV and most of the people camping there are in tents and small RVs. It felt a little awkward being the only big rig surrounded by tents because people kept walking by our site and commenting about how large our RV is. It happens to be our home since we are fulltimers, but we couldn't really explain that to everyone that walked by wondering why we have something so big for camping. We were in site C21 which is full hookup, but the dish washing station is right in the site which meant all the tenters had to come into our site to wash their dishes. This was a little awkward for them and us, but I tried to make the best of it and chat with any of them that were willing to talk to me. Other than feeling like quite the spectacle at this campground with everyone staring at us, the park is very nice. It's a short walk to a beautiful beach with gorgeous sunsets. We also visited nearby Cape Meares which was very beautiful and worth a visit. Verizon worked okay with a booster, but AT&T worked better.

First this is not a state park to experience solitude...The park large with over 200 sites which include 13 yurts, 6 cabins, 34 full hook-up rv pads and 170 tent sites. With this many sites, you can assume you are close to your neighbors. We were there on a weekend and the park was packed. We recommend a mid week stay in the off season if you are flexible to really appreciate the harmonious blend of nature and recreation. We agree with previous reviews that most of the sites are for tents and smaller rigs. And the inside roads are not very wide with some tight turns. But there were many 40' diesel pushers and large fifth wheels parked in over a third of the sites while we were there in late September. The sites we were in were over 55' long, more than enough space for a pusher and toad. We stayed in a full hook-up site our first night, which was $2.00 more for the night. There are only 34 full hook-up sites and they are located under the trees within the inner loops. In hot weather, the shade of these sites would provide a lot of relief, but they were way too dark for us, so we moved to a dry site on a loop behind the dunes. No trees, but right on the sand. The bathrooms and showers were pretty clean within the inner loop we were in, most likely because they were the newest in the park. Once we moved to an outside loop, we noticed a big difference in maintenance and upkeep. There is a very easy nature walk within the park or you can walk or drive up to the Cape Lookout trailhead for a longer and more challenging hike. But you have the beach and miles of awesome beach combing.

This is always by far our favorite place. Amazing beach for miles and miles down the point, sunsets to die for and a clean, well maintained campground right next to the beach. Super dog friendly and able to get away from lots of day use people down the beach. Restrooms and showers are clean. Everything from full hookup to dry camping to yurts. Recycling center, friendly staff. Amazing hiking trails right nearby. Also close to tillamook, which is great for supplies or a trip through the cheese factory for fresh cheese and ice cream. Easy day trips to most popular places along the coast. Crab fishing able to rent boats just up in nehalam bay. The campground is half reservable, half first come first serve. Rv sites have a paved landing. We keep coming back here time after time for a reason!

The whole A loop was full (faces the water), so we stayed in C loop, which was close enough to hear the water and we walked and saw a spectacular sunset. Our spot was blocked with trees and bushes on the sides and back which was nice. Blocked a lot of the noise , but this is a big campground, lots of people with dogs, bikes, kids, etc., so not as quiet as others on the coast. Overall, very clean, short distance to the water, friendly staff and hosts, hot showers. Lots of spaces for tent camping, but call ahead in the summer.

Very nice campground. I've camped there many times, usually in a yurt or tent. This time we took our new A-Liner pop-uip camper on its maiden voyage. Its a small camper, so we didn't worry about the length of the space. Its plenty long to accommodate a larger RV. Its a state campground, so your neighbors are pretty close.

Facilities are in need of some updating, but they were generally clean. Sites were pretty small. The beach is immediately adjacent to the campground and very accessible -- but it is out of view due to a large erosion control berm.

We camped in C14 over Thanksgiving weekend. A Loop has sites jammed together without any real privacy from what we could see, but is closed in the winter. C loop was a bit more spacious with some privacy between sites. Closer to the ocean has less shade, while farther inland starts to get some shade. Yurts are in the back of the C loop (all in pretty close proximity to each other). We did a quick drive through the D loop and it appeared to be similar to C. No sites look over the ocean in any of the loops, but all are a just a short walk away from a beautiful long beach. Nice enough restrooms with showers that we did not check out. It was a nice quiet campground, but it was a very cold night (in the 20's) so most of the campground went to bed nice and early.

We were only able to reserve one night here on our way down the coast, but like other Oregon State Parks, this one is terrific. 4 loops total. Try to get in Loop C as it is set amongst some great trees. Easy walk to the beach, short drive to the Cape Lookout Trail. A little expensive, but we had FHU (30amp) Sites aren't THAT spread out, but are separated well by the landscape.

Did a walkin and read that C loop was best. Site was good but a bit muddy as lots of shade keeps it damp. Not much solar charging can be done. Quiet. Amazing dog friendly beach within feet

There's nothing particularly wrong with the campground in October, but nothing particularly right either. Completely full the Friday night I stayed and the sites are pretty closely packed so it felt kind of cramped. I'd call it a functional campground and functional beach too. It'll all do, but next time I'll be looking for another option.

This was our second stay at this park. Both times were in February and during Covid (2020 and 2021), so I can't fairly review the services and facilities. Some positives: It is a nice setting. The park is very clean. The park is thick with trees. It is close to the beach and far enough from the closest town and highway to enjoy the sounds of nature most of the time. It is an easy walk to the beach where we we able to go for a long walk and spot a couple of Bald Eagles. (the trails around the park are temporarily closed) Negatives: Because of the trees, the roads and sites are narrow and are difficult for big rigs. To keep the sites clean, there is frequent noise from leaf blowers and pressure washers from about 8am until 4pm.

I was hunting a place for the night on at 6pm on a rainy Friday night. I can't believe they had sites available. Sites might be a little close but I don't think this camp is designed for privacy. It's designed for ocean access and you definitely have that here. The next morning was sunny and full of bird life. The hiking is endless with the beach and also trails through the forest and picnic area. The kiosk attendant was very friendly and helpful considering I wasn't the only one coming in then and it must have been the end of a long day. I didn't really have the time to do in-depth exploration but from what I saw it has many possibilities.

This is our second time staying at this campground and specific site. I wanted to see how a busy warm weather holiday weekend compared to Thanksgiving weekend. I've been burned in the past by going during the off season and then again during the summer. I will say though that both times I was very impressed! I will say that for RV's the C-Loop is ideal. Full hook ups (water, sewer, 30amp), super close beach access, and enough tree cover to feel out in nature but enough sun breaking through to enjoy its warmth. Traveling with young kids I do worry about fast drivers and this campground has none of that. Everyone did seem very aware of kids running around and drove as such. Lots of wooded area for kids to explore and play pretend. We also brought along our 2 Labs for this trip. I will say that was the only downside, and not because of our dogs. I would say close to half of the other campers also had dogs of various sizes all of whom, except 1, were always on leash and well mannered. Poop was always cleaned up, other campers understood the unwritten rules of walking dogs around other dogs, etc. So I guess this is more of a PSA than anything. Keep your dog leashed at all times! While walking our dogs a not friendly Labradoodle bounded out of its site barking at my older, more skittish dog. Not all dogs are going to be as non-reactive as mine, nor is the other dog going to be as friendly. The last thing any pet owner wants is their pet to be harmed or harm another. The beach area did get a little busy, but definitely not as busy as the day use area! Venturing north or south from the crowds revealed some prime beach without everyone milling about. Overall, I plan on continuing to try to get a site here. As any camper who is familiar with this campground knows, it's HARD to get a site here! And now I see the demand is well understood. Close to Portland, close to town for forgotten essentials, and large well equipped spaces. The tent sites were also very generous in size.
