This Corps campground is pretty nice with paved roads and several sites overlook the lake. Our site was level and hookups worked as expected. However, the gate attendant was very rude and unfortunately that unwelcome experience tainted the rest of our time there. The grass was tall in many areas and untrimmed undergrowth somewhat hindered our view of the lake. The bathrooms were not cleaned well either. We'll probably come back again but hopefully that rude attendant will be gone by then.

The site was clean and had great views of the lake. The grounds were mostly maintained - though most of the grassy areas were very tall and not very kid-friendly. The edges were mowed, however. Bathroom fixtures were clean but lots of bugs/spiders/webs throughout including in the stalls. Overall, a positive experience.

Nice flat concrete pads. Most sites require back-in so I learned how to do that in the dark. Love the sound of the lake hitting the shore and groups having fun during the day. Nights are relaxing and quiet. My site 24 was a medium distance walk to the showers and toilets. The bathrooms are dated but the cleaning crew does a nice job at keeping them clean. I like that I wasn’t right at the entrance so I didn’t have too many cars going by. Would recommend this place to a friend and looking forward to coming back. It is a longer drive out of the way versus some other campgrounds otherwise I would visit more often.

August 2021, Sites all have level concrete pads, most lakeside. Some including our site 4 have a detached patio down a ramp from the camper.

This is a COE. Excellent condition. Sites are spacious especially those away from the water. Well maintained. Good distance between the sites. Most are high enough so that water is no problem. We had heavy rains for more than 2 days from TS Claudette. Deer roam the CG & approach but keep their distance. Big rig compatible for most sites. Easy access for boaters. Would certainly stay here again.

Sped away from Hurricane Dorian and blindly picked a place far inland off Campendium app to stash our new TT for a few days. You guys continue to rock with your accurate reviews! I was going to arrive late and camp host Terry was willing to let me in after gate closing if necessary but I did arrive just before then. I picked a peninsula site without neighbors so not to disturb anyone during my nighttime setup and was seriously impressed with the view and campground the next morning. Super clean and just beautiful!! Highly recommend!

We live on the road full-time and our schedule always changes, so we typically don't book campsites more than a week in advance. This one we booked the day of and there were still plenty of sites available. The process couldn't be any easier, although I wish there were images of each campsite to help in the selection process. But for $24 what you gonna do? The site we chose prior to arriving was not ideal. I wish the attendant from the park would have steered us in a better selection. But when we arrived, it was about 7pm and the office had already closed. Make sure if you're coming late, don't try coming in after 10pm as they lock the gate. But the sign in the window instructed us to park and check in the next morning. Like I said, when we got to the site, it wasn't ideal. We saw plenty of other sites available so we looked back on the website, found the one we REALLY wanted, called the phone number, and were quickly changed to that site. The park employees actually came around on a golf cart the next morning and check us in. We never even needed to go to the office! The campsite itself... breathtaking with an amazing lakefront view. Huge site with a large "porch" with a big wooden picnic table, fire pit, and grill. We had at least 100 feet of lake shore all to ourselves. We swayed on our hammocks and watched the sunset on the water. The neighbors to either side of us were barely noticeable. Tons of trees and shade. Biking around to explore the park, we noticed that the place was only 1/3 full, and this was on the weekend. The weather was to die for. The other Corps of Engineers parks on this lake were full, not sure why this one wasn't as well. I work online from the RV and when we arrived, my Verizon mifi was nearly unusable but my AT&T service had over 30mbps, so I had to hotspot off my phone. A couple days later I was able to get a good connection again on the jetpack so I'm not sure what the issue was. You are only 15 minutes away from any restaurants or shopping you desire, but you feel like you are in glorious wilderness, aside from all the boaters, jet skis, and wakeboarders. I've read that people were deterred from the noise, but I like to see people having fun so it didn't bother me in the slightest. For that reason I gave it 4 stars. All the sites are beautifully paved, great views, quiet, tons of trees. For a few days I felt like a queen living on a lake. Only downside is you don't have sewage except one dump station... but it's worth it to be surrounded by water and nature.

Great facility. Meticulous. Super clean bath houses with hot water. Gorgeous lake views. Perfect for kayaking, boating, fishing..or just walking and biking. Grocery stores and Walmart’s within a few miles. Awesome camp hosts too!

We arrived without reservations on a January Thursday afternoon, but couldn't be assigned a site by the campground host. Instead we had to call the national recreation.gov number, give them our Senior Pass number, and get a reservation over the phone for one of the many empty sites. Oh well, the short delay was well worth it for one of the most beautiful campgrounds--public or private--that we have ever stayed in. Paved roads; newly mowed grass; well-spaced, nicely-angled, level, paved, W/E sites backing up to the lake; a helpful host who led us to our site and came by later with his wife just to check up on us; well-maintained dump; and a beautiful sunset over the lake. Just couldn't believe the low cost of a site we would have easily paid $60/night for at any equivalently situated and landscaped private RV park. Just wish it were 1500 miles closer to our home in Colorado!

Stayed Oct 6-8. Rates for this site were $22 MTW and $32 TFSS. Senior Pass cut the rates in half. Reservations were make online at recreation.gov and confirmed before arrival. We stopped at the entrance and were told we could proceed to the site. We received a map and directions to the site. This campground is laid out so nearly every site is on the lake side of the campground roads. Most sites have a lake view. For mid Sep thru mid Oct the campground was nearly full on weekends. We used to camp on Lake Lanier 35 years or so ago and really liked it back then. This is a newer campground on the northern end of the lake and didn't seem to have as much boat traffic as the ones further south. This is the only site that was available that met our size and power requirement when the reservation was made. We couldn't have asked for a nicer site. Nice level treed site with a good lake view. It has an asphalt driveway, level concrete pad and crushed granite camping area. There are only 2 very minor dings for the site. You heard an occasional acorn hit the roof, (to be expected on a site with a lot of trees). Hurricane Nate went through on Sunday and dumped about 1.75 inches of rain over half a day and there was some minor puddling in the crushed granite camping area. The MHRig blog post about this campground named only 6 sites that were big rig compatible. We called the campground to ask about that and they gave us another half dozen sites. By the time we booked none of the sites from either source were available. Site 26 is listed as 47' back in. At 41' we were fine with the site. If we had backed up until the back tires hit the concrete stopper, it would have been perfect. Longer rigs would probably have the door open outside the crushed granite camping area. We were outside, but we were not all the way back.
