This place was really beautiful. The views of the lake and the surrounding trees were serene. I love parks like this. Lots of beauty, but small and quiet. There are only about 15 spots. They are fairly spaced out, and with the trees it gives you a little extra sense of privacy. I stayed in site #4 and to be honest I was really lucky to find an availability from what I heard. This park fills up fast and usually far in advance. The bathrooms and showers were clean and well kept. A little older, but overall this park is really well maintained. Howard from the park office was honestly just great and so helpful. I called in advance when I was on the way, and he made sure I understood how to find the main office to check in. He also helped me when I had a minor issue with my camper while trying to pull out after my stay. Traveling alone is fun and exciting, but also nerve wracking when things go wrong. Howard and some other park workers jumped in to help immediately and really saved the day! I will definitely be back. I enjoyed site #4 on the canal side, but site #9 with the lake views is what I am targeting for next time. A big bonus of Trimble Park for me is that it is pet friendly. Not all the Orange County parks are. There is close access to town and stores. I also drove 20 minutes or so and spent the day at Rock Springs which is in Kelly Park. This was fairly close and a lot of fun. Make sure you call Kelly Park in advance to discuss the times and how to plan properly, as the spring fills up very early and they close the gates for the day. Beware of the bugs at the campground, but they can be expected when staying anywhere outside. Especially near water! I was a little worried about this, but honestly it really wasn't that bad. I had a Citronella candle going, along with some coils. I also brought bug spray, and with the fire burning I hardly noticed them. If you're a true adventurer, bugs are "small tings."

Only 15 sites, some have lake views, we stayed at site 11 which had great views of lake Carlton, BBQ, fire pit, picnic bench and water and electric hook ups. Theres also a boat ramp (although closed for renovation whilst we were there), children’s play park and around 2 miles of hiking trails. Sites were good sized and private separated by shrubbery and trees. Site 11 is opposite the shower block which was also very clean and not busy or noisy. The site is a 10 min drive to Mount Dora and a great location to explore Lake County, Florida. Overall highly recommend staying here !

One of the most beautiful sites we’ve stayed at. Reminds me of Ft. Desoto

Trimble Park is a nice county Park, with terrific facilities. Each site has a nice new picnic table, light pole, fire pit and even benches for the fire! The bathrooms were clean and new and there are three playgrounds. Our experience was being the little guy in a land of big rigs. Lot of large RVs. Most sites are right on the lake. If feels like you have your own lakefront property! Location of camp is convenient relative to nearby service like groceries. One con - a metric TON of bugs. It wasn't bad the first day, but day 2 they were EVERYWHERE. Looked like it was snowing next to the lights with all the critters flying around.

If you’re camping here, we suggest spot 11. Has such an amazing view of the lake, hands down the best camp spot here. There are only 15 places to camp & it comes with electric hookups. they sell fire wood, but not after a certain time. make sure to bring plenty of OFF though, the mosquitos are horrendous. they have hot or cold showers, and plug ins in the bathroom so if your a female , you can plug in a blow dryer or flat iron. Overall happy with our stay!!

Just finished a great week at Trimble Park in Mount Dora, Fla. For a glimpse of the original Florida, huge oaks, spanish moss & plenty of wildlife this is a good one. A quaint quiet park with only 15 sites, most on the water, benches, gliders & swings along the trails. Electric & water at each site, no sewer but there is a dump station. Our 40ft had no problem fitting. For a very natural park they do a great job of keeping it picked up.

This is by far one of the nicest campgrounds we’ve stayed at. The site is paved, has free standing grill, picnic table, waterfront fire ring with grill and benches, and a post for garbage/hanging stuff. Sites 7-13 are lakefront. Canal spaces have waterfront firepits as well, but can be noisy if there is a scouts group using the group camp site across the canal. Bathrooms were clean, 3 nice hot shower stalls. Firewood is sold onsite. There is a nice long boardwalk trail, but water sports are the shining star at this park. Multiple boat ramps in and out of the rv Park, could push off a kayak directly from the site, can even fish along the trails. 5 minute drive or Uber to downtown mount Dora (lots of food and shops) and is also close to rock springs. Also worth mentioning this is the quietest Park I’ve stayed in. I woke up to birds- not tiny screaming campers :) Will definitely return to this park ASAP!

The park is very clean and well organized. There is a lot to do here even for kids. Biking, fishing, playgrounds, and Mt. Dora is just 15 minutes away

This was our second time staying at Trimble Park and it was just as good as the last. Though it says Mt. Dora, the park is a few minutes away in neighboring Orange County, I think the town's name is Tangerine. Cute! We had made our reservation a month or so in advance. There are only 15 sites so I guess it gets pretty busy. On our way out we tried to make another reservation about 4 weeks out and were told that there was a waiting list. The sites are perfect, ours had a fire pit, benches, picnic table, charcoal grill and a nice paver patio. The bathhouse is dated but clean and functional. The RV sites attach to a small county park with a boat ramp, kids area, and general park type things. There's a great hike out to a point and then back through the woods/swamp on a boardwalk. We did see an alligator this time so be aware. The only downside is that I think maybe the park is understaffed so there isn't much by the way of friendly customer service. But for the beautiful location, convenience to Mt. Dora, Orlando and other central FL spots, we'll keep coming back.

This is a hidden gem of Florida. It's only got 17 RV sites in a shaded natural environment. The way into the park is through the neighborhood roads about 2 miles off of the highway. The neighborhood you must drive through has some lovely homes on large pieces of property. They are well manicured and you feel very safe, although the park is rather secluded. The park is operated by Orange County Parks & Recreation. The staff was very pleasant, even coming to "rescue me" when I drove right passed the somewhat hidden driveway to the main office. It was dusk, it was raining, I was alone and pulling a trailer down narrow forested streets, so I was a little stressed because I was anxious to find a spot and get set up before dark. We laughed about my driving right past the office sign. The resident supervisor (whose yard I ended up turning around in) was tickled to see my homemade cottage camper and she came running out for a quick little tour before I turned it around. After I had gotten properly parked & set up, she came down to my site personally to ask if she could do anything for me (but I think she just wanted to take some pictures of my camper!) The lake was clean and rather large. There were 4 or 6 small boat slips right there between sites 8, 9,10 and a sign posted on the lake side saying "Docks for Trimble Park campers only" and nobody bothered us, although there were 1 or 2 jetski's and 1 or 2 small motor boats out & about. Clean, spacious bathrooms, had non-slip tile floors, "marblized" formica stalls, strong flushing toilets, real mirrors (not blurry reflector kind), electric air vents above each of the 3 showers which each had a dry dressing portion. The restroom building also housed a water fountain, reference maps posted, and a free book/magazine exchange. This park is priced right, shady & lushly landscaped. Plenty of greenery between the sites, could probably get double the number of RV's in there if they had wanted to skimp on the landscaping. Glad they didn't. It did not feel tight at all, but rather very much "alone in nature." Pets on a leash are fine, they even had free doggie bags and a pet rules sign near the playground. Cute shaded playground too for the kids, although none present when I was there. (July 2015) Walmart was 6 miles away, along with everything else you could possibly want (town of Mt. Dora) restarurants, churches, fast food, small businesses. Home Depot/Lowes not much further. (you never know!) My kinda place = small, quiet, NOT commercial, clean & affordable. and LAKEFRONT! They have a late check out time (2pm) so it is nice & leisurely. I watched the staff come to clean up immediately after each site vacated: they collected garbage, set the electric/water pole, picked up landscaping that had blown from the trees (we had a couple of blustery storms come across the lake!) and then they ground swept with a blower. The picnic tables are made of powder coated metal grid so they stay cleaner than a solid-top picnic table. The concrete pad under the table was edged with brick pavers and then contained in railroad ties around the perimeter. There were also 2 park benches at each of our sites (everybody's sites or just the ones by the boat dock?) and a fire pit between the benches. Each site also had a 2 inch thick "shepherd's hook" that you could use to hang almost anything on because of it's strength. (Camp shower bag, raccoon-proof place to hang trash bag, gear to dry off the ground, etc) The RV sites were wide & long (I think my site was 75 feet long!) They can accommodate some big rigs, if you can maneuver them under the tree lined roads. Grass along the lake, leaves & dirt on the parking site. Oh, I also noticed they had lined the parking site with railroad ties and there were reflectors on them every several feet to help guide you in. Each site had water & elec but there was one dump station on the way out and a small sign saying there was a fee (I didn't use it so I don't know how much). There was a huge security fence closing off the entire road for night time and a drive-up keypad for campers' use. They also gave out the after hours phone number to call if there were any emergencies, power goes out, fence malfunction, etc. Great little place. Park has no wifi/internet access. I have MetroPCS and had NO CELL SERVICE. I did ONCE have 2 bars and it took me 12 minutes to send out 2 text messages.
