We were going to stay here, however, chose to leave our rig about an hour away due to time constraints. Beautiful campground though. Wish we would've stayed here. It would have been VERY damp in mid-October if we stayed but the beauty would've been worth it. Lots to see and do around. Amazing hikes nearby. Hope to upload the video drive-thru that we did. If you get a chance to stay here, do it.

Recreation.gov classified this site as RV ready for a 30 foot trailer. Not so. I spent an hour with the camp host cutting back the brush and tree limbs to get my RV in the site. Worst of all the is that Recreation.gov did not advertise that there is a three mile uninproved dirt road littered with deep pot holes, like a mine field. I do not recommend anyone take a 30 foot RV in there.

We travel full time and, generally speaking, we need to be connected to the internet so my wife can work a part time job. I scheduled Goodell purposefully on the two days of the week she is officially off work because of the review just below this one which states: "The Verizon service was marginal and barely enough for a video call. It worked, but was not ideal for heavy internet use even with an extender." The report was written in August of 2020 and is no longer true. We have 4 bars of Verizon service in Site #5 and enough bandwidth for browsing the internet or streaming. I am composing this review in the campground. This time of year and because the snowpack is plentiful this year, the sound of Goodell Creek as it moves by Site #5 is thunderous. Great for opening the windows at night for sleeping in the 50 degree F. temps. We have a 25' van with a carrier on the back making our total length about 28' and fit nicely into Site #5. Getting a site is by reservation, but, and this is a great exception. If you arrive without a reservation and there's a placard on the site post that says "Free," indicating the site is not reserved, you can move into it and it's free to you for the night. You may have to move if the site is reserved the next day. The $10.00 site fee reflects a senior discount.

There a numerous Forest Service campgrounds on the road following the shoreline of Baker Lake. Shannon Creek is the last one on the road making for a more secluded place. The last several miles are a typical fairly rough gravel road with washboard and a few potholes. The FS is currently working on some upgrades so our site had the benefit of a new table😁 Many of the sites aren’t level so leveling blocks came in handy. Most people here had kayaks or paddle boards and there was easy access into the lake on a gravel beach. We were here for hiking so the lake was wonderful at the end of a hot day for a cool swim. If you don’t want to negotiate the gravel road I would suggest staying at Swift Creek campground which is the last campground on the paved road. I drove through it and the large loop to the left on entering has many lovely shaded flat sites in the trees.
