The Georgia State Parks always manage to impress. We stayed at site 204, located directly beside Lake Delanor. We spent evenings by the campfire, taking in the sounds of croaking frogs and the water's reflection. The facilities were well-maintained, including clean bathrooms and shower houses, functional hookups, and a flat camping area. The cell service was adequate enough for me to work and use Zoom, especially with a booster. But there's more to this place than just the basics. It boasts numerous stunning and well-signposted hiking trails, kayak and canoe rentals, and is a short 20-minute drive from FDR's Little White House and the Warm Spring pools, both of which are worth the trip. It lost a star for noise due to a small nearby airport - it's generally quiet, but the occasional low-flying plane can be heard.

We stayed for 2 nights with our 22’ RPod in area 5. We found the hiking trails through wonderful old growth forests. The shower house was exceptionally clean and well maintained. Spacing between sites was good and our site was level. Area 5 is wooded with beautiful trees and plenty of shade. AT&T cellular reception was good. Fire rings were well maintained. Nearby Callaway Gardens is a great vacation destination with so much to do. In the fall, there is a pumpkin festival and they have a magnificent Festival of Lights during the Thanksgiving & Christmas season. We plan to return!

We stayed 3 nights over the Memorial Day Weekend in quiet loop 5. The site itself was perfect - tucked into the trees with no neighbors on our patio side or behind us. Our site had 30 amp service but several on the loop had 50 as well. The roads are narrow but we had no trouble with our little TT. Bigger rigs will need to use caution in some areas, but everyone seemed to do just fine this weekend. Our site had a concrete picnic table in the corner and a fire pit with grill. Some sites had wooden tables instead. Wonderful and well marked hiking trail system with many options for either short hikes or day long treks. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was that the bath house couldn’t keep up with the full campground, many more tenters and pop-ups than they were used to. Twice there was no hot water in the showers and by the last day 3 of the toilets were out of service and the floors/counters were a mess. Not really the parks fault, but knowing the sites would be packed with larger groups it would have been nice to have more regular cleaning. We’re ended up just using our facilities and running the tote to the dump station each day instead.

!!! Directions !!! Google maps will take you THROUGH the campground to get to the office. It’s a 9% grade with speed bumps (who does that?!) for about a mile. Not fun. In Google maps type in “FDR Park Office”- then your choice to go around and through the back gate (better route) or go down that hill to camp. Cell: Verizon 6.77 down 0.16 up ATT 61.0 down 4.78 up Didn’t record tmobile but was similar to Verizon No WiFi at camp Camp: all gravel Area 1 has FHU, no shade, sites close together like at an RV park, nearest the lake. Recommend site 101- more private with a great view. Area 2 w/e, shade or partial shade. Private, more spread out. Recommend 206 and 208- door faces a beautiful bubbling creek. Area 3 w/e- has a gravel road getting to it (unlike 1&2 which is paved). A bit pitted and some are not as level. Looks more undone. However site 301 is fantastic. Private pull thru facing the creek. There is no area 4 - why?? Where is area 4? By Area 51? Area 5- w/e entirely shaded, note this is 1/2 mile away from all the trails, lake, activities. It’s very densely wooded. Felt isolated in there. But that may be your thing. Area 6- intended to be tent sites but there is water and electric including 30amp. The tent pad and picnic pad are perfectly level. But the driveway where the car (or camper) would be parked are bumpy and super not level. Face the woods and lovely though. Facilities A camp store at the office and a smaller version at camp has some fun things- ice cream, trinkets, candy. Not on the map but exists- laundry. In each bathroom building. Bathrooms are clean. Trails!! Lots of well marked trails and open areas to walk around in. Boating. Really nice playgrounds- modern, music, it’s awesome. Great stay- adding to my favorites.

We absolutely loved this place. Huge wooded sites, and choose your own upon arrival. We ended up extending for 10 days, and got a lot of work caught up on – as well as explored the many trails in the park. The park was just the peaceful solitude we needed.

I loved this state park even though it rained a majority of my time here. It is a beautiful wooded state park, many of the sites are spacious with trees in between sites. I was here in the late fall, so although the campground was not empty it was far from busy (just how I like it). I chose a site that was farther up the hill but there are sites on the water. A large variety of hiking trails, whether near the campground area or further out in the Pine Mountain Forest. Other day trips could include Providence Canyon SP, F.D. Roosevelt's Little White House in Warm Springs, GA or visiting Callaway Gardens.

This was our second Georgia State Park, so we were familiar with the process, you reserve a site by size and/or hookups and you can choose an empty one, meeting those requirements, after you check in. Check in was easy and the clerk gave us an overview of which sites would be appropriate for our rig. We have a 38' fifth wheel and were hoping for a 40'+ site with 50 amps. We started by driving thru the lakefront sites, but the site we wanted was taken, so we decided to head towards the other loop that she said had more sites that would suit us. This is a large campground, with multiple loops, some inside of others. The roads throughout the campground are narrow, single lane, with washouts on both sides in many places and trees sometimes in places that make it difficult for a larger rig to get through. That said, we made it out of this loop and headed to the next one. Georgia had seen about a solid week of rain before we arrived at FDR and many of the sites had flooded areas, so that limited our choices as well. We eventually found a site that we could back into and we started hooking up. The site was not very level and our leveling system balked a little, but we got it figured out. The site we chose was a 30 amp site, with two 30 amp hookups. The first we tried didn't work, so we hooked up to the second one, which worked until out AC kicked in, when it popped it's breaker. We reset it, but it was very hot, so we contacted the park and they sent someone over, who ultimately replaced both. So, all was well. There are no sewer hookups, but there are gray water dump areas throughout the campground, although most didn't seem convenient to any particular sites. The electric and water hookups were convenient to each campsite. When we don't have sewer hookups, we use the bath house and, although they are fairly old, they were clean. There was no washer/dryer, but we were ok with that. The park is huge and there are lots of hiking trails and the drive through the center of the park was beautiful. We drove to Warm Springs and visited the Little White House one day and Callaway Gardens another. The closest town is Pine Mountain and there are a couple of restaurants, a liquor store (pretty pricey), grocery and hardware store, so if you need something there are places for that. After driving around, minus the fifth wheel, we found many other sites that we would be happy in, especially once the water level went down. We enjoyed our stay and would consider returning in the future.

We loved this park. We camped here in April, 2017 in a 35 foot fifth wheel with 3 slides. Georgia state parks reservations are not site specific. After check in you can drive through the campground and choose a site that is the size you reserved. Check in at the Visitor's Center was quick and easy. We were visiting during spring break and the campground was going to be full while we were there. We had reserved a premium 40 foot campsite and the ranger showed us the loops that would have the best sites for us. We chose a large pull through site in loop 5. All of the sites have Our site had water, electric, a nice gravel patio area with concrete picnic table and a fire pit. Our patio had a nice view of the woods. The sites in our loop were arranged so that there was a lot of space between sites. The bath house was clean and well maintained. There is a dump station. The only downside to the site was we were unable to get our satellite to work. The campground is close to hiking trails. One of the loops is on a small lake. There is a well stocked camp store. There is a lot to do in the area. Callaway Gardens is a short drive in one direction and FDR's Little White House a short drive in another direction. The drive along Hwy 190 is very scenic with several overlooks including Dowdell's Knob where F.D. Roosevelt liked to go.

I enjoyed staying at this campground. Sites 308 and 309 are buddy sites, but not listed as such so that was a slight surprise. The road in is a little tight and steep, but very doable. If you have any bit of a size of rig I would recommend checking in over the phone and going right to your campsite. Go back to the office if you need to pick stuff up such as your site card. I have a 40' diesel pusher with a 4 door sedan in tow, and even though there weren't many cars at the office (it was closed due to Covid) those cars were parked in spots that made it so i couldn't get out (during normal times I am sure there are even more cars). To make the turn to the out road I had to unhook my car, maneuver the RV, then hook the car back up (I was solo this weekend, if you have someone to drive the toad then it is no problem). The road is a little on the tight side once you get into the campgrounds but was doable, even with my car hooked up. Site 309 was easy to back-in, probably the most level site I have ever had! I didn't need to put any of the tires up on a board, and after dumping the air and putting the jacks down, all i had to do was put them on the ground, i never had any lights come up to tweak the leveling.I love the campground, all of the hiking, the quietness. They were redoing some sections when i was there, but only worked until 4pm on Friday and no work over the weekend. I think I irritated one of the construction guys because he was coming down the road behind me when I got to my site, he had to wait for me to unhook my car and then back in, oh well. I did have some cell signal when I arrived, and that is what my coverage is listed as below, as far as during the entire time, I am not sure because my phone got turned off. If cell service is a main concern, maybe camping isn't your thing......

This is our second time at Roosevelt State Park. We loved it so much the first time we booked it again same time in Nov. When the foliage is turning. Just beautiful, site 117 is a back in close to the lake. We did go and enjoy the hiking trail that goes around the campground, spent the day at Callaway Gardens and that evening saw the Christmas lights. One nights dinner was at Hunters Pub...a must do for those meat eaters. We booked for next year but did not get our past site 117 but did luck out with a FHU site.

While many of the RV site, are listed as 50 feet and some even more, many of the pull through sites, are "turn through" sites. As they have a major turn in the middle of them, making them unusable to larger RV's. The campground roads themselves are narrow and with 1 foot drop offs right at the edge that would blow a tire, or damage a sidewall. These drop offs on the side of the campground roads, could be easily fixed, and I encourage, the park staff to do so. Check in is up the 9 degree hill, and at the top there is no designated RV parking spots, and you have to make an 180 turn to exit check-in area, then go back down the 9 degree hill, to the campground. If you have a camper 25 feet or smaller, then this state park if they would fix the roads would be great, Great location, relaxing among the century old Oaks and long leaf pines, and just 2 miles away is Callaway Gardens.

First time here and great experience. We were in the upper loop and while we liked the sites down by the lake, our site was just fine. Fairly level, nice living area and trails close by. Restrooms were kept clean, friendly camp hosts. Park trails connect you directly to Pine Mountain trail so you can hike to your hearts content. Highlight was trip to Little While House and Dowdell's Knob. A must visit for a thorough history of FDR. Pack a lunch and picnic at his favorite spot, Dowdell's Knob. Then you can hike the trails and work off your lunch. Very quiet during the week but come Friday is was packed full with families and kids.

We arrived at night in a light rain an were able to find our site without trouble. There is a gate code the park called and gave us ahead of time for after 10pm but we got in just before. Our site was on the small lake and well shaded, level and plenty big for our 18’ camper. There are many nice sites with views of the lake and good distance between them. The camp host was friendly and attentive and we were able to buy ice and wood from him and he brought it to us. There is a nice and easy hiking trail right from the campground following a small stream where we saw an amazing array of fungus. Lots of other trails a short drive away. The campground was very clean. There is a playground and saw that there are canoes/kayaks/paddle boats (we did not use) and a few people fishing. The bath house is older but clean and everything worked. Would love to visit again in the spring to see the native azalea and mountain laurel in bloom.

This was a nice state park with fantastic hiking nearby. Our site was along the back edge, and level, which we liked. It ended up being kind of a “buddy” site (we were 309, buddies with 308) in that our tables and fire rings were in a shared space. It worked fine, but we didn’t know that. The showers and bathhouse were cleaned regularly and there was cheap laundry.

This is a classic Civilian Conservation Corps state park located near the Little White House and the Pine Mountain Trail. Staff we met were very friendly and the facilities are in pretty good shape for their age. The restrooms and showers were clean. Budgets are a problem everywhere, but a few small maintenance items would go along way towards improving the park. Our site had some erosion, and during a heavy rain we had about 3 inches of standing water in our site which took the better part of the night to drain off. However, this wouldn’t keep me from going back. We enjoyed visiting Warm Springs and a nearby winery.

We stayed on a Feb 2022 weekend with great weather. The bathroom and showers were kept clean and are in a great condition. Due to my forgetfulness, the camping stove was left behind at home. At first, I was ready to drive 30+ minutes to LaGrange to a Walmart to buy one, but I stumbled into Pine Mountain just 5 minutes from the campground. Since it was a short 2 night stay, we just decided to enjoy Pine Mountain's restaurants - be sure to try 3 Pigs BBQ, Unique Expressions Coffee Shop & Cafe, and Eddie Mae's Country Kitchen, if you don't want to cook all meals at camp. We hiked the Wolfden Loop trail and enjoyed the small waterfalls, but there are lots of trails to choose from here. Another good hike is around Dowdell's Knob. Overall we liked this campground and the facilities and would return.

Nice campsites on a small lake with some nice hikes around the lake. Only thing that I really didn’t like was the firewood was very wet, and there is a lot of dead standing trees that are hazards. There was one on our site that made me nervous as it was right over the site and leaning towards the camper. On our way out we saw another very large dead tree had actually fallen over across 2 sites. Luckily they appeared unoccupied. Bathrooms also outdated.

This is my second review in under a year. This remains a favorite state park. Only had two nights last August and limited time for exploring the available trails but have done over ten miles of hiking this trip. The campground is undergoing major renovations closing temporarily a whole section of sites that overlook Lake Delanor while clearing out trees to create a couple new lakeside sites. That work has been noisy but only during the day when we were on our way to exploring the hiking options. The trading post is closed for renovations as well which is inconvenient as it’s the closest place to resupply. We seem to be here right before their busiest time so services are sketch. Even with those negatives I highly recommend this park campground. Pine Mountain Trail winds through the park 23 miles we hiked 10+ of them. Particularly beautiful is Wolf Den Loop which runs 6.7 miles of relatively easy hiking and includes several waterfalls. Trails are extremely well marked and maintained by the Pine Mountain Trail Assoc. kudos to them.

As a Friends of GA State Parks Supporter, we used our 3 "free" nights at FDR State Park. There was a lot of site construction going on, so space selection was limited when I made our reservation. Site 308 was one of the least desirable sites. It was almost a "buddy" site on both sides and directly across from the bathhouse. The site was 2 30 amp outlets with water and an open gray tank dump at the front. It was pretty level, gravel, and shaded. There was a picnic table and firepit with the adjoining sites table and firepit right next to our site. One of the biggest negatives was having so much campfire smoke so close. The drive through the campground was narrow and required caution with tree branches. The plusses were the variety of things to do even with an almost complete shutdown due to Covid-19. There are many good hiking trails that were well marked and maintained. We found a number of geocaches along the trails. There are trail rides at the Roosevelt stables which we did (we had an extremely inexperienced guide who was panicking throughout the ride, but the trails were interesting otherwise). And Callaway Gardens was close by and open for bicycling and walking. Verizon service was fine for streaming without a booster.

We loved the campground and our campsite. Sure, the roads were a bit narrow and there were some drop offs at the edge of some of the roads and beside my site; however, it was all manageable with my 35’ fifth wheel and 22’ tow vehicle. Despite the site listing as only having 30 amps we were pleasantly surprised to find it had 50 amps as well. This was great because it was hot! This campground is a great place to stay for visiting Callaway Gardens and FDRs Little White House. We enjoyed bike riding and hiking there.

Large spots, with woodland or lake views. Reserve a space, then choose your specific spot when you get there. Some of the access roads were a little narrow to navigate. The many trails in the park were what we needed to stretch after 2 days on the road.

This park is right by Callaway Gardens. We stayed in loop #3 at site #301. It was very close to the lake but not right on it. There were two small bridges behind our campsite. Very picturesque. The proximity of the park to Callaway Gardens was important because one person in our party ran the marathon they held there in January while the rest of us ran the 5K. Staying at the state park made it really simple to be at the starting line on time. They have the best stocked park office around and totally helpful small general store. Everyone was very friendly. It was interesting to learn about how the CCC did so much work to make that state park amazing way back in Roosevelt's time. F. D. We arrived later than we’d hoped so missed out on exploring the park, but the campground is great. After re negotiating our way back on to the main campground road we grabbed a pull through site just steps from the lake. Note for other folks with a tendency to arrive after dark...while lakeside sites may look appealing, the access road to sites 113-116 is NOT friendly for larger rigs. Our 29’ rv *might* have made it through but I gave up and backed out. Our site was flat and had electric and water. There’s a dump station at the rear gate, just around the corner from the campground. Another note...sugar ants. They’ll find their way in and be a nuisance for some time to come. If you are prone to get lazy about putting your choice of deterrent at ground contact points...this isn’t the place to slack. Put down your best defenses on shore lines, jacks, wheels, and anywhere else that makes a bridge to your rig. Overall this is a great, spacious campground and during our stay in Sept ‘18 was nearly empty. The main bath house was clean and well kept. The lake is beautiful and we’d recommend enjoying this spot for longer than we had time for.

We were here in winter with less than 12 other campers so very quiet with store mostly closed except for weekends. Our site was a pull thru that could have handled a 45’ rig but roads are narrow and some turns are tight. Site selection is definitely a consideration as some would be very challenging to get into because of road design and trees. Getting into office for registration is a challenge and would be more so in the busy summer season. Because park was empty, staff made a couple of suggestions and we had alternatives but one of them would not have been possible so be prepared. Facilities were very clean and well maintained and we enjoyed our stay. Enjoyed visits to Little White House, Callaway Gardens and Infantry Museum in Columbus

What serenity after driving through Atlanta. This park is perfection. Many lakefront and lakeview sites. Great site spacing. Hiking trail from campsites to Liberty Pool is a masterpiece. This park offers so many hiking trails you need more than our two nights so we will go back. Warm Springs and Pine Mtn are close by. We managed to fit in The Little White House in Warm Springs where Pres.Roosevelt would go to unwind and recupurate from polio. Shouldn't be missed. Take a walk at night and watch for fireflies haven't seen them in these numbers since childhood. A swim in the pool is unique for a State Park experience. Dump Station was a two banger so for us no waiting. It's a exit/entrance that we discovered was far closer to Pine Mtn a town with more services to offer than the entrance we first entered from.
