A quiet, remote, attractive site on a former tree nursery in a large bend of the Gellibrand River featuring a magnificent avenue of poplars.
The camp ground, separate from the day area, is a generally level grassy flat with thin shade from open rows of Messmate. Access tracks are gravelled laid out in a regimented design. 9 tables, 7 pit fires (some with swing BBQs). composting toilet. Rated at 4.2/5 A grassed (slashed) play area adjoins. Dogs to be kept on leash. Surrounded by low ridges forested by Mountain Ash, Manna Gum and Pine forest with an understory of blackwoods, wattles and tea tree - a mixture of wet and dry sclerophyll forest. Rosellas and magpies are common. The small Gellibrand River has a series of deep pools, accessed by a walking track leading downstream.

Situated in the inland foothills of the Otway's, south of Colac, East of Gellibrand Access from Colac: South 26k on the Colac-Lavers Hill Rd (2k south of Gellibrand), left, east 11.2k on Lardners Track (Gellibrand East Rd)(1.7k sealed, good gravel through tree ferns), left 200m on Sayers Tk, left 400 to Dandos (signed) Safest way to arrive at Dandos Camp Ground is through Colac and Lardners Tk, not though Forrest.
