I arrived at this location with a large truck and a 35-foot 5th wheel, settling into site #21, a full hookup, pull-through spot. The area was mostly gravel, flat, and the spaces were quite close together. One major advantage was the presence of shade-providing trees, especially beneficial as temperatures were in the 90s. The site was shaded for a sizable portion of the day. It offered a picnic table, but lacked a fire pit. My Verizon service was decent with 2 bars of 5G, there was a cable connection (which I didn't utilize), and while wifi was accessible, it wasn't very reliable. I didn't investigate over-the-air TV options. There was a designated area for long-term residents, housing some stationary trailers (for example, those with flat tires) and several quaint cabins. The arrangement was somewhat disorganized. A sizable dog park was present. Laundry cost $2.50 for wash and $1.25 for dry, but I didn't make use of it or the bathhouse, which, despite being old and in need of renovation, was clean and the showers had a small bench for belongings. The location was convenient for driving to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, as my vehicle was too large for the park's campgrounds. It was a decent spot for a relatively brief visit. I'm accustomed to staying in state or national parks where there's more room and privacy, so this influenced my overall less positive impression.

We had booked a pull through site 6 month in advance of our stay. When we arrived there were no pull though sites available. Campsite owner indicated that our booking had not been transferred over to their reservation system. They were able to find us a reverse in site for our stay but didn’t offer any compensation for the inconvenience. The campsite has a large number of long stay campers and the sites are somewhat close together. Facilities are basic.

This is a well located small park. You can walk to Main Street. It is a small park with many long term campers. Mature trees provide good shade. We stayed here in May before the Grand Mesa campgrounds opened. We use this as a base to explore Gran Mesa.

When we first found this park we found it a little strange that is in someone's backyard. After talking to the owners and hearing all the great parks in the area we decided to give it a try. So glad we did, this is our second time here and the owners are great people they are friendly and helpful very knowledgeable about the area. Yes Cathy, the owner, plays taps every night that is not a big deal to us. I think it is very patriotic and after getting to know her you will understand why she does this. I highly recommend a stay here for one night or more. We have been treated like family and will be back here in the future.

We spent a month here because we needed a place to get some packages delivered and do some maintenance and chores we had been neglecting. Also this was a part of Colorado we had never visited and it looked like there was lots to do in the area, which there was. The park is strange in that yes, it is in someone's backyard. We wanted a creekside site, which was $400 plus electric for the month, but it was so unlevel we didn't have enough blocks to raise the front end high enough. So we ended up with the site right next to the small building housing a washer, dryer, shower and toilet for $375, which we thought was quite reasonable. There is no sink in the bathroom, a little strange and also unsanitary, but the shower was great and we used it every day we were there. The washer and dryer didn't seem to get much use and there are only 15 sites, many of which were empty much of the time we were there, so doing a load of laundry here and there was very convenient. There are a lot of signs posted in the laundry room and shower about cleaning up after yourself and not stealing the park's toilet paper and cleaning products.I kind of got the feeling the owners didn't really like for people to use the bathroom. Having said that, though, the owners were quite friendly and aren't crazy about renting to families with kids so it was very quiet. I think there were three families there for just a few days each the entire month. No campfires are allowed, another plus. We met several couples who come and stay for several months each summer and love it there. They did not get a lot of one or two night stays, probably because the price is too high ($35-40) in our opinion. Yes, they play a loud recording of Taps at 8 each night. Some of the guests would go out and stand at attention every evening. It bothered us at first but we got used to hearing it, strange as it was. What we liked most was the ability to walk to anyplace in town, the Surface Creek trail just a few blocks away, and Grand Mesa just 20 minutes up the road for hiking, biking and much cooler temperatures. The park has wifi but it was hit and miss as it is in most RV parks so we used our own.

There are very few campgrounds in this area of Colorado that have cell service, which is why we chose this campground. The Grand Mesa is about 15 minutes away but there is no cell service. Oh how I wish we could have camped there instead. This is basically a gravel backyard with about 10 sites 3 of which are permanent trailers. There is decent room between each site and the hookups are fine, but again...you are in someone's backyard. The owners were nice enough and it's within walking distance to the downtown area. Those qualities alone are not enough to recommend this campground. The other campground in town looks very dusty and is on someone's back 40 acres. I would prefer Shady Creek over that campground. There is one washer and one dryer on site, but the rules posted all around are little overwhelming. A few sites back up to a creek, the other back up to someone else backyard. PROS: It's one of two campgrounds in the area CONS: It is a backyard..with gravel They play TAPS through loudspeakers at 7pm each night. It's LOUD. Backyard.

DO NOT COME TO THIS PARK IF YOU WANT TO FEEL SAFE! Yes we were offered the "premium" spot at the park because it was quite and off in a corner with no reason for any other customers to go thru our lot. After we moved in it was nothing but a constant barrage of other guests constantly on our lot even after the 2nd! no trespassing sign was posted by the owner. Ohh and it gets worse. The "premium" lot we live in is next to the dog area. Well other guests take that as permission to take there dogs out of that area to pee and poop on and next to my RV. As in so close that one of them was staring at me thru my own drivers side window in my RV and his nose was piratically on the screen. There website says no dogs off lease in park no exceptions..... well on 4th of July night me and my wife talked to the male owner Mike and he said that the lady with the full size doberman was allowed to have her dog off lease in the dog area right next to our "premium" lot thus making it the only place to have your dog off lease in the whole park. Now when I brought that up in front of Kathy the wife owner Mike flat out lied and said he never told me and my wife that. Well one evening the lady with the full sized Doberman came over and again against the rules unleashed her dog (now this dog area has NO FENCE AT ALL!!!!) turns her back on it for over a min then when he was done puts it on leash and proceeded to trespass on our lot where our "private" creek access was. Now I was told by the owner Kathy to start to asking people "my i help you" when we see them trespassing. Well my wife did just that. The dog owner who was trespassing on my property and in full knowledge of the leash rule turned around and released her dog on us! Yes she pulled our a weapon and released it on us! This morning I talked to the owners and was told if I didn't feel safe I was ok to leave and they would give me my monthly money back. But the lady who trespassed and released her dog on us on our property was being allowed to stay because she was living in a 5th wheel with no way to move it! How many times have us full timers seen that excuse for doing what you want and thinking you wont be kicked out for it. So be warned this park is a tribal rule park.. IE if enough rule breakers decide you have to go they will just keep coming at you till you complain then they get the owners to boot you out. The police officer who came out to right the ticket for trespassing told us he would have shot the dog if he was in the situation we were in. My wife in the process of trying to get away from the full sized Doberman hurt her knee. If we were average Americans we would have already called a lawyer and would be suing the lady and the park since the park gave her permission to release the dog in a park where they advertise no dogs off lease no exceptions! Run far far away from this place. Kathy is a great person who tries to keep things professional but nice but the residents here own her. She will say they dont but as long as you can trespass and release your attack dog on other residents on their property and still be allowed in the park that means they run in not her. And Mike her husband I have no respect for. He told me and my wife he was ok with the Doberman being off leash then lied to me and his wife when called on it. Read my reviews I don't ever get this much detail or be this upset ever but after being told she was being allowed to stay and that if I didn't feel safe I could leave... do I need to say anything else. We have followed all the rules in this park to a T. And we were polite and kind to everyone around us. And Kathy admitted to that when I asked her if we said or did anything wrong. Please take this seriously because that dog could have maimed my wife or myself with the permission of Mike the owner since he told her it was OK for her to release her dog.

While our site was on the tight side, it was nicely maintained and shaded. Getting in and out of the park is a little hairy, there is a huge curb coming in off the street into the industrial area where the park is, its gonna throw you around a bit so go slow. Overall it was nice and extremely convenient to Black Canyon NP which is absolutely stunning!

Unfortunately we were not able to stay at this campsite. We had reservations and when we arrived we were told that the people in our spot decided to stay another night and that we could not stay. They also said that our rig would not fit in the slot they had reserved for us anyway. They could not accommodate us. We asked what we could’ve done differently to prevent this from happening in the future and they said that it was their mistake. So just beware that reservations do you no good at this campsite

As noted in other reviews, there is a miniature golf for those interested. The park is close to Black Canyon National Park and Montrose. The staff was very friendly and pleasant, and the bathrooms and laundry pretty clean. The sites are quite close together. Don't expect to spread out with a fire pit. There are no fire pits. The men's shower area was kept very cold for some reason and the shower stalls very tight. All in all and ok site for a night or two, but not a place to hang out, though there seem to be some long-term folks staying there.

Lovely park. Level site. Nice bathroom. Close to food and free *miniature golf*. We'd stay. here again. Nice quiet over night. Felt like this place was really cared for by owner/management.

As others have mentioned, the RV park has a mini golf attached, which looked pretty good. Overall the place was clean, no complaints there. As a place to stop for the night it worked out well. We had full hookups and a pull through space. I don't think I'd like to spend more than a day or two here though. Each site is separated by a wooden hitching post. There are no tables, fire rings or room to setup much of anything. If you're only planning on sleeping it would be fine. But it is easy to get in and out and the pads are pretty level gravel. The WiFi like at most places is fine when everyone is asleep, but REALLY slow when everyone is using it.

We needed a shipping address while in the area to visit Black Canyon of the Gunnison and Cedar Creek fit the bill - only 15 miles from the national park entrance. Rick, the owner/manager, works hard to keep things ship-shape. He’s very friendly, helpful and has a great sense of humor too. The mini-golf course if fantastic! 18-holes, moving obstacles, well designed, well maintained, and a ton of fun! And it’s FREE. The park is situated within Montrose city limits, but it’s tucked back off the main road behind a bowling alley and other businesses. The sites are narrow and very close together, there are some large shade trees but plan on being very friendly with your neighbors. Each site has either a picnic table or a small bistro table/chairs, a few have firepits. Sites are full hook-up (50amp) and there is a laundry, very nice showers/restrooms and a large fenced dog run. There is a 10% GS discount off the daily rate or the weekly rate is pay full price for 6 nights, get the 7th free. The total for our week’s stay was $284.10. Ask about discounts for longer stays. We had 2 bars of Verizon 4G. Wifi worked fairly well when it was up and running. We jinxed ourselves by complimenting Rick on the Wifi and it promptly went down and we couldn’t get on for a day or so. We mentioned it and Rick reset the system and we were ok after that.

We were looking for an RV park close to Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park and chose this one based on DriveDiveDevour's review. I concur with everything they said - yeah this allows me to be very lazy and not come up with my own things to say. The man at the front desk is very amusing and friendly and the whole place is well tended and cared for. They have a great looking mini-golf course on site, but between work, hunting Pokemon in town, and hiking at the park, we didn't have time to try it out.

The rate reflects a w/e site with Good Sam discount. The owners were very friendly when we checked in giving us advice about visiting the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park and joking around. Walking around, you can tell they care and keep the park in tip-top shape. There are some rental RVs on the property. The laundry room and bathrooms were very clean. There is also a mini-golf course that looks super cute compared to most campground courses. You could walk to a couple restaurants from the cg including a Mexican place and steakhouse. Very easy to get to Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. ATT and Verizon was pretty good although I forgot to note the bars. Note that you need to go down an alleyway to get to the entrance which we missed at first, but we were able to turn around easily on some new roads on the left.
