Resort has large gravel spaces. Lower area with lake views has no foliage but sites are very large. Full hookups worked perfectly. Staff was very helpful. Music on Wednesday night. Very nice pool, hot tub and rec center. WiFi was waiting on parts, it was functional but slow. We used our own hotspot and were fine. The island itself is nice and the resort is only a short distance to Burlington and to many other outdoor activities. One of the nicest places we have stayed.

Pay extra for the lakeview sites that are right at the lake. Pricey but totally worth waking up to the view. This is a full service place that has some great family hikes and a pool and playground. Nice camp store as well.

My site was over looking the lake. The sites are very spacious and perfect for my class A plus we had room for our vehicle. Pulling in and leaving was easy. My site was flat and level and the ones around me appeared to be the same. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We rented a pontoon boat while we were there and had so much fun on the lake! (be sure to grab a sandwich, snacks, and drinks from the general store for your trip) Some of us jumped in and went swimming near the beach that's located nearby (2 minute drive from the resort if you don't rent a boat) and others enjoyed fishing. The islands have cute farms and fresh food. Pack your bikes for the local bike trails (one goes to Burlington and includes a short bike ferry ride). The pool is the perfect place to cool off at the end of the day. Yoga was fun and they had live music and a bbq while we were there. The winery nearby offers live music on Thursdays and wine tastings. Burlington is a close drive (15-20 mins) and it was a fantastic day spent on church street, the waterfront, and at the teddy bear factory. Stowe is less than an hour away and offers great hiking, drives, and scenic stops (Ben and Jerry's, Cold Hollow Cider Mill, Stowe chair lift to the top of Vermont's tallest mountain, etc) I will be back and i'll be bringing all my camping friends this time so they can experience Vermont's beauty as well.

First off, that $39 per night is the Passport America rate. And the 12 nights were split up in 6-day stays, separated by one day out at a repair facility (Passport rate is only good for 6 nights at a time). That being said, this is a gorgeous island resort with views of Lake Champlain on two sides of the park. There is a nine hole golf course, beautiful pool and lots of first class activities (bands, wine tastings, casino nights and more). There is a marina and boat launch suitable for kayaks, canoes and power boats and there is a small store on site. The mostly work-camper staff could not be more helpful or friendly. There is also a state park, within one mile, with a swimming beach and free access to the water for exploring the marshes and ample wild life. On the downside, you are on Grand Isle and major grocery stores, restaurants and other shopping is a half hour drive away. You will run a rut in the causeway getting to Burlington and points south.

Although Apple Island Resort in South Hero, Vermont has an enticing website, it is more of an open parking lot type campsite. Being in Vermont, you would expect trees, but there aren’t any. We enjoyed mid-week views of Lake Champlain and surrounding mountains, but lost the view when other RV’s or Motorhomes parked in front of us. Only motorhomes are permitted to park along the waterfront. The sites are not well maintained. Our outdoor living area was dry cracked dirt, not much grass and after rain, we had to deal with clinging mud. For a flat area, the sites are far from level. We had trouble leveling everything, the trailer, the picnic table and when cooking outdoors, the food slid to one side of the skillet. The site design for individual campsites is backwards, as the hookups are located on the side of the site that would give you a view of the lake. So instead of enjoying the water and mountains, you’re facing your neighbor’s RV. There is a marina across the road and nine hole golf course at one end of the park, but Apple Island is more of a regular old campground and far from being a resort.

One of the few parks we've seen that actually is a resort. Golf course on site. Although the park is just across the highway from Lake Champlain, only the w/e sites have views of the water. We had to move to access satellite (Direct TV), then it worked great. Very nice swimming pool, hot tub, recreation hall. Trash pick-up at site with recycling bags included at check-in. FHUs 50 amp. Good power and water pressure. Immaculate restrooms and showers. Park WiFi worked most of the time, not real fast. General store on site with great deli sandwiches and most convenience items including a good beer and wine selection. More seasonal sites than overnights, and all very well maintained - beautiful in fact. Friendly and helpful staff. We needed to receive and send a couple Faxes and they were very accommodating. Easy drive to the Shelburne Museum and all the services available in Burlington, Vermont's largest city. Wonderful local stores and eateries, and water sport rentals nearby.

Starting rate is $70! And up to $100. This is not camping like I’m used to. Might as well stay in a hotel instead of spending extra money on gas pulling a trailer. I guess if it’s your vacation you can justify it. I’m full time & can’t be paying these rates. Off to the state park - usually better sites anyway.
