Stayed in beginning of Nov 2022 Site type: Back-in, Water / Electric only, 50 AMP THE GOOD Staff: Very nice folks and really helpful. Peaceful: Very quiet campground. Kids playground: They have an amazing playground and places for the kids to be active and climb through trees. Location: Gas pumps 5-10 min away. Sites: Spacious spots. Grounds: Clean and nicely maintained! Office/Store: Good sized store. Some grocery items and a good amount of RV stuff. Lots of gifts available. Wildlife: The peacocks are everywhere and we loved it. THE BAD: Safety: There seemed to be lots of folks that drove really fast through the campground's main road so we did not walk our pups outside of our circle (Birch) Sites: All dirt and a touch of paved sections. So was a bit muddy (rained for a couple days). Price: Quite pricey for not having sewer hookups Facilities: No laundry available. COULD BE BETTER: Not good or bad Wifi: Typical campground wifi. Could not connect to it.

Of all the KOA’s I have stayed at this one has the most potential to improve. Only had partial hookups in a smaller trailer so we had to use the campground restrooms and showers. They are filthy. What’s funny is they have a sign posted outside the restroom saying they clean them daily from 11am-2pm but it has probably been several months since anything was touched in there. Spiders, bugs, cobwebs all over the place including next to the soap dispenser at the sink. If I could give 0 stars on cleanliness I would have. From the B loop you also have to walk up a good 20 stairs to get to the restrooms and showers- fyi. The kids liked the jumping pad and swimming pool. Pool was kind of dirty too, but good place to spend some time in the sun or shade. The ropes course, zip line, and climbing wall look fun but they only open them certain days of the week and the timing was off for us. There is an additional cost for that. My biggest issue with the fun kids stuff is that it is a hike down a steep path from the RV sites. I liked that the KOA here also had activities planned as well. Like building bird houses and doing tie dye shirts. My pad was good prob second best in the B loop. Had a couple loose bricks that we tripped over a bit but otherwise it was fine and had some decent shade. Didn’t like the fact that I was paying $80+ per night for only partial hookups though. This place appears to have some longer-term residents using all of the full hookups right now. You have to drive through downtown Santa Paula to get anywhere. Not a big deal but it will take a good 30-45 min to get to Ventura or the beach. Maybe would stay again…. Maybe.

Beautiful campground BUT came here for swimming bc our Spring Break forecast was 90+ degrees and they wouldn’t open the pool! They don’t open it till May. Which makes zero sense bc it’s solar heated and plenty warm enough in March and April to swim. Very disappointing. They should say on their webpage that the pool is closed. Kids had fun with jump pillow and zip line course (son said “outstanding!”), arts and crafts, and swimming in the creek and the (relatively shallow) watering hole. But the real problem was the bugs so I wish we’d brought something for that. Biking was fun but more for little kids (mine are 11 and 13). Campsite felt private with trees around it. Awesome but very loud peacocks! Good camp store with ice cream. We will definitely come back.

Pros: staff friendly and kind, great zip line/ropes course (must be 8 with adult or 11+ to go alone), cool peacocks, very quiet, lots for kids to do Cons: Sites are a little rundown and close, long-term neighbors (more than one) were storing their black waste in holding tanks (what a stink!)

Wonderful place, TONS of activities and very friendly staff. My only criticism - I got eaten to death by bugs at dusk and really all day by black gnats and mosquitoes! 25 bites on one leg, 17 on the other! BRING REPELLENT!!!! Otherwise a wonderful spot that we really enjoyed! We will return with repellent. The peacocks wail all day long but they are quiet at dusk til dawn. Not a problem.

This is our first review. We were looking for a last min place to spend a few days in October that wasn't too far from home and also close to the ocean. Yes, this is during COVID so there are a few things that are "not normal" here. Overall this is a beautiful place, a nice gem that we will for sure come and visit again. We found this place here on Campendium and mentioned it to them when we booked, they had not heard of it. So introduced it to them. They are very helpful staff but a little hard to get a hold of on the phone. Tho they were pretty good at returning the voicemails. During our stay we got to know Miguel the manager, who was amazing and very helpful. During COVID they were only at 60% and most amenities were closed and they were short-staffed. Also, a number of restrooms were closed but the showers and main bathrooms were clean and worked fine. The downside that bugged me a bit was the additional fees that were not mentioned to me on the phone but only noticed on the email receipt. There was a $6 additional child fee (per day) for each child after 2 children at your site. Plus there was a $10 a day COVID surcharge. They mentioned that was for additional cleaning and to help with short staffing. Not a huge deal but still a bit of a frustration. The pool was open (they were about to close it any time in mid-Oct they said) but it was so hot it was nice to take a dip. Even tho it was FREEZING cold. Maybe they stopped heating it for the last week. also, a fun thing was the creek. it was so warm during the days, it was fun to bring some chairs and relax and cool off in that creek, and no mosquitoes either, which was amazing. We had a great time, kids rode bikes, we took a day trip to Ventura Beach/Pier and just basically relaxed. There is wifi in each area, but not the best. The strongest was near the pool I think as I had a few meetings that I could sit by the pool and attend by Zoom. Yes, there are peacocks around they are nice and no noisey at all for us. Saturdays in October they do a Halloween events, we didn't participate as they had extra fees for all of that too. Oh and the stars are great too, we saw many shooting stars! Overall a nice little quiet oasis that wasn't too far from home. Thanks!

We came here in the middle of Covid not expecting much, but were pleasantly surprised. This campground has something for everyone. A lot of the included activities were closed, but the campground itself is beautiful and well kept. The pool is large with plenty of seating spread out. There is a beautiful stream that runs along the perimeter of the camp with spots that are deep enough to cool off in. There are also flocks of exotic peacocks that roam the park. There isn’t any cable or TV reception, but there is wireless that works ok. We used our cell phones as hot spots and were able to watch movies. The RV lots are pretty good size. Ours was gravel and nicely shaded. There are limited full hookups in the camp, so if having full hookups is important make sure you book in advance. Our only complaint was that we got an occasional foul smell from what must have been the sewer system. It would be nice if the owners fixed that. The store on site was also closed for some reason. All in all this is a wonderful place and we will be back!

I really enjoyed this campground. It had a nice family feel, kids riding bikes in the roads and making new friends, nice campers and staff. It was so fun to see the peacocks roaming around! I’ll definitely stay here again.

Our next stop was the Ventura Ranch KOA in Santa Paula right before you get into Ojai. It’s a nice campground with shaded spots, decent sized sites, and peacocks! The shade was awesome because it was considerably hot while we stayed here. When we first pulled in we noticed our electrical hook up post was broken. They were able to get someone out there a couple hours later to fix it luckily. We also felt like the office staff was a little short. We did have a large Amazon order sent here (and you know they never send it all in one box, its gotta be in a million separate boxes) since this was our first site in a while we would be staying long enough to receive a package. So we might of annoyed them and put ourselves in an unfavorable position. We were here a couple weeks before Halloween and the KOA organized some holiday activities for kids which was nice and unexpected. There is actually a ton of stuff for kids to do here! We didn't get to explore much as we were sick while passing through. Bathrooms: didn't use Hookups: full hookups Dog Park: didn't see one or use; peacocks come tight up to you so if your dogs aren't fans of birds just be careful Kid Friendly: yes (playgrounds, swings, rock climbing, activities) Laundry: small but clean, $1.75 per load (**the office can only give out one roll of quarters per day to each site so stock up on quarters ahead of time if you need to do a lot of laundry)

Officially my favorite campground, I will go back again and again. We stayed after the summer rush but loved having the place to ourselves. Peacocks roam around freely and there’s plenty of stuff to do for kids. There’ a giant poo, jumping pillow, rock climbing wall, playground and all kinds of daily activities. The sites are spacious and come with a set of patio furniture (in the Pine area). There’s a nice convenience store on site. We enjoyed walking around the (very large) property and everything was very well kept. We took day trips to Ventura, Santa Barbara and Ojai but we would have been just as content exploring the area around the campground. Downtown Santa Paula is very cute and easily accessible. We loved the seclusion of this campsite and all it had to offer. We are headed back again this summer.

We stayed here for a quick night last winter and just went back for the thanksgiving break. The campsites- the campsites are small but clean, ours had a fire pit, picnic bench and a small grassy area. All our neighbors were all very nice. If youre able to get one of the sites along the outside on the top or bottom of the oval, these seemed to have more space and privacy (B47 or B36-40 or C63-70) Amenities- there is a little clubhouse with showers that are clean although they do not drain well. The store is pretty basic but it had firewood and a few other things you might need. Kids activites- there are a lot of kids activities including a jump pillow, a gem mining area, zip lining, a dirt bike course, a bigfoot walk and a hay ride. There was also a movie under the stars one night. Many of these activities had an additional fee so come prepared. We also enjoyed walkin the nature trail. there is a pool but it wasnt open either time we were there. When we went on new years they had the zip lines running at midnight and they lit up the people who went down which was fun. it was like a human ball drop =) The Area- I highly recommend that you visit the town of santa paula for shopping and museums. My boys enjoyed the oil museum, the art museum and the agriculture museum which are all in walking distance of each other. There are some lovely murals. You can also head up to Ojai- there are nice hikes and a cute downtown.

Such a great place and super close to home. Name is a bit misleading as it is not in Ventura, it is in the hills of Santa Paula, almost to Ojai. The staff is great, facilities are clean, tons of activities for kids and adults a like. Sites are good size and set up in away you dont feel like you're on top of your neighbors. Will and have returned many times
