Menlo City Park Campground

572 5th St.
50164, Menlo
Stati Uniti d'America

The City of Menlo has 7 campsites available. All but one site are full hookup with sewer, water and 50 amp electric available and run $25.00/nt. We have one site that has electric and water only. That site is $18.00/nt.

We are a first come, first serve campsite that does offer long term camping.

The campsite is right next to our city park, basketball court and library. We have a porta-potty, no bathhouse or restroom on site.

Stopped here on my way to Nebraska and it did the job, but would have driven further to a rest stop if I had the energy. Train comes through around 3 and 5am blowing its horn for 10 seconds. You’re also surrounded by homes so you hear the families and their dogs. There’s electrical, water and trash. I didn’t see a bathroom but maybe I didn’t walk around enough at the park. Library right across from the park with WiFi if needed. 2 bars LTE AT&T. I was the only camper. Other camper looks like it’s stored here. Did the trick but again, likely wouldn’t stay again for $18/night and all the noise.

We drove here off the 80 and got in late around 10ish. We were glad there was a spot! Easy back in, pay box on site. Full hookups were nice and there is a nice playground there. There were about 4 trailers already there and they looked to be full time residents. About a 10 minute drive off the highway. Only downside was the train! We had 2 come through @ 0300 & 0530 and blew their horn like they were coming in the camper with us! Needless to say after the second one we were up and left on our way!

We arrived at the park around 6 PM and had our choice of sites. That may be because the park is located on 5th Street behind the Menlo Public Library and not on Ranch! Dropped a pin in Google maps and it gave the GPS location as 41.520729,-94.403223...hopefully, I did it right! The park is clean, quiet, and level. Water and electric.

Stopped here for an overnight not knowing what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. The campground is six 30amp with water sites in the main city park. The park was clean and tidy with a playground. The street approaching the campground has some low tree branches - tall rigs will want to pass through gingerly. An active train track runs right next to the park and we had one come through during the night on our stay. There is no bathhouse, only a portapotty on site. The public library is right next door and their WiFi is available, though only during operating hours. AT&T and Berizon signal was not great, but adequate for low-res streaming in the evening. Signal enhancing with an external/MIMO antenna helps a great deal here.
