I'd rate this location at 3.5 stars, though I've rounded it up due to the pleasant staff. I didn't find the roads leading here to be problematic. Our visit coincided with the opening weekend, with our stay at D7. The gravel pad was flat. This campground, which has a long history with the locals, is often full. Many individuals keep their camping gear here for the summer season. The lack of privacy due to sparse tree coverage between the sites is offset by the friendly nature of everyone. I was traveling westward and stopped here for a single night. If I had brought children, they would have been entertained by the pool, playground, and planned camping activities. I also appreciated the option to rent a canoe or kayak. The restrooms and showers were satisfactory. The WiFi connection was consistently strong throughout my stay.

I booked my spot via Reserve America. The campground, Lewey Lake, is not hard to locate, although there are numerous signs along the highway from the Indian Lake side. Therefore, drive carefully to ensure you enter through the gate with the Ranger booth. The check-in process was straightforward, and as is common with many Adirondack campgrounds, a bear warning was provided. I found my spot easily and managed to park my vehicle without much difficulty, although I had to perform a jackknife turn. The spot was spacious, and I could level my rig with little effort. The site featured a fire ring and a picnic table, but no other hookups. Water faucets are scattered around the park for filling your rig or containers. The internal roads are a mix of broken asphalt and crushed stone. Some sections of the road are narrow, making it impossible for two rigs to pass simultaneously. The restroom in my loop was well-maintained, clean, and had satisfactory hot water. The campground provides kayak rentals, sells firewood, has a beach area, and offers fishing. The staff did a good job of keeping the campground clean. Lewey Lake is situated 12 miles south of Indian Lake and 12 miles north of Speculator on Route 30. You would need to travel this distance to access gas, groceries, or other necessities, as there are no such facilities near the campground. Also, there is no cell reception in the vicinity; the nearest signal is 4 miles south, close to Mason Lake. Numerous activities are available, such as paddling, hiking, and exploring. Don't be shocked if you spot some skinny dipping in some of the more remote areas. As others have noted, Route 30 cuts through the campground and traffic can be fast, so be cautious if you have children on bikes. I would consider staying here again. Most sites have tree cover, which might interfere with solar power. Generators are permitted during specific hours. Despite the bear warning

First I want to acknowledge Gary and Don, the two people we interacted with during our stay. They are pleasant, helpful, friendly and well informed. We stayed at a site with no sun unfortunately but thats because we waited well into the season before we booked. We were near a rest room, which was convenient. The lake and the surrounding areas are absolutely gorgeous. I took a kayak out ( 20 bucks for 24 hours, pretty damn good) and the scenery was breathtaking. Its hard to know what site to book when you are only looking at a map of sites, but there are MANY on the water and while there this time we scouted the water sites to pick ours for next year. One disclaimer that you should know before going is there is ZERO signal or s=cell service at the site and to obtain a signal you have to drive quite a ways to either Speculator or Indian Lake, maybe a 20- 30 minute drive. This was at first a surprise, but Kind of liked not having to bring my phone anywhere ( except for photos) and the compulsion to constantly check the phone was quickly eliminated , I would definitely rate this site 4 stars and I will be back next year. We had noisy camp neighbors but you cant prepare for EVERYTHING. Or maybe bring ear plugs. :)

The best thing about this park is that it's quiet. Advertised as streaming 4K wifi, no disclaimer as to cost. Its $10 per day, no thanks. The road in (Campground Road) is terrible and the campground roads are marginal.

The best thing about this park is that it's quiet. Advertised as streaming 4K wifi, no disclaimer as to cost. Its $10 per day, no thanks. The road in (Campground Road) is terrible and the campground roads are marginal. Many sites are permanent residents in fixed trailers (its like a trailer park) that only come in on weekends, not sure it that's good or bad. There are 5 sites not permanently occupied in the 300s loop. Some of the permanents only come on weekends. Most permanent residents are older. Our site was fairly level with nice pea gravel. Large site, about 100 feet long. 50 amp electric and water worked well. Laundry room on site. We can almost see the lake from our site, if you look real close through the trees. The pool was closed while we were here. Very quiet, few kids in area, though it was after school started and during the week. For rustic, home cooking try out Campbell's restaurant just up the road, homemade pies. 2-3 bars of good, usable AT&T service, 5 HDTV channels (NBC, ABC, CBS and local channels).
