On the whole, this location was quite acceptable. As some have pointed out, it is situated adjacent to a major road, which can be somewhat noisy, but it didn't disrupt my sleep. There are a couple of pit latrines within walking distance, but during my stay, they were extremely unclean and had a terrible odor, so I chose not to use them. A handful of individuals visited during the day for some fishing and beverages, but they were not disruptive, and I wasn't disturbed by anyone. I did have access to AT&T service, so I would likely consider a return visit, even if just for a single evening.

A charmingly neat camping ground situated near the I-70 highway. I checked in late in the evening and departed early in the morning. The camping sites are well-maintained with gravel, fire pits and lush green spaces. Although the camping spots are quite adjacent to each other, it was completely vacant when I arrived on a weekday. The proximity to I-70 does mean that the sound of traffic and occasional distant car lights are noticeable, but it's generally a wonderful spot for an overnight stay. There was no T-mobile network coverage within the campsite, however, a short distance away on the nearby road, I was able to get approximately 2 bars of 5G signal.

Bridge is being replaced on the east side of the river so you must enter from the Blackwater Exit. Yes, drive around the road blocked signs as they still have the boat landing and camping spots open to the public. My eyebrow went up when the sweet gas station clerk told me the same thing but my after dark arrival went smooth. Earplugs are a MUST if you want any sleep. Only a handful of level and gravel sites backed to the river but it is next to the interstate overpass. I don’t mind sleeping with earplugs and slept great. A fellow customer in the gas station told me the local rowdies used to go down there and drink under the bridge but can’t now.ð Great stop for the road trip.

The bridge is fixed so you no longer have to worry about coming in at exit 89 on I-70, you can use exit 98 if you're traveling West bound. Traveling East you'll want the Blackwater exit, 89 off I-70. The internet was challenging but not a complete show stopper. You're very close to Booneville, 20 minutes, which has a Walmart. We visited that town on our 2nd day, after much needed rest, for groceries and fuel. Didn't see a propane refill readily available. Had company of campers coming and going. Nice spot, thank you Blackwater and Missouri Department of Conservation. Next time through, when not so rushed, you get my tourist dollars. Okay, there is some I-70 noise. The Campground is right alongside the Lamine River which means an I-70 bridge over the river. You can see the traffic and some trucks seem to hit that bridge just right. I will say it's no worse then some of the loud rumblings I hear at night from ther other side of my bed, and I won't name names.

When you are in between Columbia and Kansas City this camp offers a few level gravel sites right on the river to rest. We pulled in well after dark and found an empty campground. Picked the 1st site because it was big enough not to disconnect. The site was level and had a fire ring with gathered wood ready to help decompress from travel. The campground was very close to the interstate highway. It caused a constant background noise. The sites did have some trash left in the fire rings. The stray dogs were a bit of a nuisance but would have been more of an issue if we would've had our pets with us. We never saw another person the entire 16 hours we spent there. The convenience and seclusion will bring me back there when rest is needed and I'm in the area.

We were planning on staying at another local access that was little more than a parking lot because of the (bad) review for this site, after reading the reviews (Many) on google maps we changed our minds and came here and glad we did. There are several actual campsites, most with fire rings but no picnic tables. A couple other people staying here throughout our stay but all were quiet and it was very nice. What the other reviewer said about hwy noise nearby is correct but toned down at night and was never an issue for us but if you're a light sleeper it may pose a problem. The sites did have a bit of trash left by other campers and while that's sad, we have just accepted that we may need to pick up and really only takes a few minutes. That being said there are no trash receptacles so yes we have to haul out someone elses trash which some find irritating, okay. But we did enjoy staying here, the river passes by each site and hey it's free.. so while we can't give this site a raving 5 star review we did give it 4 and encourage others on the fence about coming to read the reviews on google maps. AT&T was smoking fast but T-mobile will need a booster. No video on this one guys but you can follow us on our youtube channel @ OurEndeavor we invite you to come along with us as we explore this great country one video at a time. Cheers! Dave & Karen

It’s free and close to the highway. Downside is it’s REALLY close to the highway. If you’re bleary eyed, need somewhere to stop for the night, and can tolerate or drown out the noise of trucks all night, it’s an option. There was also a lot of trash around, and it appears the river floods with some frequency. There were freshly graveled sites with dried mud in between. I imagine this is the sort of place Chris Farley was thinking of when he said “living in a van down by the river.”
