We were going to stay here, however, chose to leave our rig about an hour away due to time constraints. Beautiful campground though. Wish we would've stayed here. It would have been VERY damp in mid-October if we stayed but the beauty would've been worth it. Lots to see and do around. Amazing hikes nearby. Hope to upload the video drive-thru that we did. If you get a chance to stay here, do it.

Recreation.gov classified this site as RV ready for a 30 foot trailer. Not so. I spent an hour with the camp host cutting back the brush and tree limbs to get my RV in the site. Worst of all the is that Recreation.gov did not advertise that there is a three mile uninproved dirt road littered with deep pot holes, like a mine field. I do not recommend anyone take a 30 foot RV in there.

We travel full time and, generally speaking, we need to be connected to the internet so my wife can work a part time job. I scheduled Goodell purposefully on the two days of the week she is officially off work because of the review just below this one which states: "The Verizon service was marginal and barely enough for a video call. It worked, but was not ideal for heavy internet use even with an extender." The report was written in August of 2020 and is no longer true. We have 4 bars of Verizon service in Site #5 and enough bandwidth for browsing the internet or streaming. I am composing this review in the campground. This time of year and because the snowpack is plentiful this year, the sound of Goodell Creek as it moves by Site #5 is thunderous. Great for opening the windows at night for sleeping in the 50 degree F. temps. We have a 25' van with a carrier on the back making our total length about 28' and fit nicely into Site #5. Getting a site is by reservation, but, and this is a great exception. If you arrive without a reservation and there's a placard on the site post that says "Free," indicating the site is not reserved, you can move into it and it's free to you for the night. You may have to move if the site is reserved the next day. The $10.00 site fee reflects a senior discount.

There a numerous Forest Service campgrounds on the road following the shoreline of Baker Lake. Shannon Creek is the last one on the road making for a more secluded place. The last several miles are a typical fairly rough gravel road with washboard and a few potholes. The FS is currently working on some upgrades so our site had the benefit of a new table😁 Many of the sites aren’t level so leveling blocks came in handy. Most people here had kayaks or paddle boards and there was easy access into the lake on a gravel beach. We were here for hiking so the lake was wonderful at the end of a hot day for a cool swim. If you don’t want to negotiate the gravel road I would suggest staying at Swift Creek campground which is the last campground on the paved road. I drove through it and the large loop to the left on entering has many lovely shaded flat sites in the trees.

This campground is very centrally located in the park and even though it was right on the main road it was quiet and in the creek side sites, you can hear the creek from the campsites. While there are no hook-ups, there is room for small motorhomes and trailers. We were there in June 2015. On Saturday, the campground filled up, but during the week there were only about five other sites occupied. Not all the sites are suitable for motorhomes/trailers due to the slope.

Small campground very close to Newhalem. Close enough to have a couple bars of 4G. Sites on the water have gorgeous river and mountain views, but no privacy, as usual. Site 19 is fairly private, in comparison. You can hear hwy 20, but it's not terrible and dies down completely by 9pm. Vault toilets, boat launch, water spigot, trash dumpsters, and bear boxes. Most, but not all, sites are level. First come, first served. Only accepts cash or check. I looked first around Diablo Lake. Gorge Lake CG was full and Colonial Creek CG no reservation area was really cramped, almost full on a Monday in late July. Goodell, I had no neighbors on either side. Tho part of that is due to the site I chose, this campground was def less crowded.

We really enjoyed our stay at Goodell Campground, where we found one of the few spots that would accommodate our fifth wheel. We wanted to stay in the National Park Complex for our stay in the Cascades, and this one of two campgrounds that were still open for the year. The other being Gorge Creek. The nice thing for our stay is that it was October, and the CG was on primitive status, and they were no longer charging for the season. The creek behind our campsite was beautiful, and there was lots of foliage. If you have solar like us, then just count it out for your stay here, as you can see in the pictures its a pretty heavy canopy, which was kind of neat as it rained and it felt like a leaky umbrella. Several trails are in the area via driving to them, but just a short distance down the road is the Newhalem CG and the NP visitor center, that host several shorter trails. If we were to come during the regular season, we would at least attempt to find a spot in that CG.

Again happened on this campground as I was check out a N.P. No current fee, tho' forest folks/host (?) did come by and put an occupied sigh on the site once I was in. Very quiet, about half full, enjoyed.

This is a very nice campground that is right on the Skagit river. We came at 10am on a Wednesday to snag a site that fit our 42' 5th wheel really well. We had access to a small beach on the river. This is dry camping with water available in various locations along the campground road. There are also pit toilets available. Each site had a picnic table and fire pit. The sites vary in size, but are spaced apart a reasonable distance. There are two loops that we were able to drive down with our 5th wheel. It was fairly quiet at night with moderate traffic during the day. The key is to come early and look at the tags on the sites. Each day a ranger comes around and writes the stay dates on a dry erase tag that is attached to the site post. The Verizon service was marginal and barely enough for a video call. It worked, but was not ideal for heavy internet use even with an extender. I highly recommend staying here as it was beautiful! The Gorge Powerhouse is a couple minutes up the road in New Halem. The closest services are in Marblemount which is about 20 minutes south.

The parking lot that's mentioned here would be solid for anyone to stay (and really the only option if you have a trailer). However, next to the parking lot is the beginning of a one lane dirt road (NF-4052) with multiple camping spots w/ fire pits along it. The views along the road are much nicer with more remote camping spots. So if you're a car/tent camper like me it's perfect for you.

Deer Creek is a large gravel parking lot right off Mountain Loop Hwy about 26 miles from Granite Falls, WA. While there is no cell reception of any sort (not until you go back in Granite Falls), there is a lot more sun exposure at this location than the other potential boondocking sites we came across. This is important for us since our rig runs solely off solar power. We were the only vehicle parked there during the whole time we were there, but there was a decent amount of drive-by traffic going up Deer Creek Rd. to Kelcema Lake and along Mountain Loop Hwy - which is why it gets only 3 stars for noise. Traffic was a lot busier during the summer weekends than the weekdays

Cute spot, right near a river and a great little trail. Pretty hot once the sun hit it straight on since what appeared to be a decent amount of trees had been taken down due to what I assume was a forest fire in the campground sometime in the last year or two. Easy to walk to Baker Lake across the street and explore areas around there without sleeping amongst the hullabaloo of a giant site full of massive boats and RVs. Tons of mosquitoes but thats the deal with that area so bring your repellent. Absolutely adored the constant sound of the rushing river and splashing a little in it. Had two kiddos and a dog with us, and the site was perfectly suited for animals and family. (Bringing a canopy of some sort is recommended, again for shade due to some deforestation from a recent fire). Even with the thinning of trees in some areas it still felt private, good buffers between some campsites, and beautiful scenery. Vault toilets, no running or potable water, but plenty of larger nearby campsites to fill up water at if needed. Solid enclosed bear resistant garbage containers. The river was freezing and completely invigorating. No cell service on either my Verizon or AT&T phones- which was great.

There is no place to turn around if you go down either of the small roads to the right as you enter the park. If you go down the road to the left you can turn around with a small rig. Most of the spaces are small will only accommodate a small Rv or tent. The spaces are not well maintained. There were some less than desirable people in... more

This campground offers dry camping only, and campsites are on grass. I would give it a 3 1/2 rating, but that is not available, it's a good value for $7 a night. There are only a couple of sites that accommodate big rigs, these are to the left as you enter the park. The road to the right is really tight and none of the campsites are large enough for a big rig. There are trash cans and port-a-potties, but no other facilities. Several campsites are right on the river with access to the shore, although it is pretty overgrown. This seems like a popular campground for fishing. The closest town was Concrete, but we did not go there. We thought that the campground would be convenient to North Cascades National Park, but it was a bit of a drive. Overall a quiet and pleasant place.

Great location, right on the water. I would give this the highest of stars if there was better access to the water from the campsite. A lot of blackberry and plant overgrowth , but there are trails through it to the water from most campsites. But all-in-all? A great place to stay and relax. And, as mentioned above, big rigs to the left small rigs and tents to the right. Have 2 bars of Verizon without my signal booster, it's a little slow, but definitely doable. Photos above do well justice, no need to add my own.

We stayed here on 10/7/2019. It is primitive camping with no hookups, but the price ($7/day) couldn’t be beat to pretty much have the place to ourselves. As mentioned before the sites for larger rigs are to the left as you enter the park. It is fairly easy in and out but we wouldn't recommend a rig much larger than us (37' class A) since there is no loop to turn around. We had to unhook our Jeep so we could turn around. It rained the entire time we were there but it is a magical forest feeling since many of the tress are covered in moss.

Quiet campground overall. Some road noise. No Verizon and limited AT&T. Mostly fishing going on here but more trash than you’d like to see. Especially since there are trash cans all over the place.
