In general, the park was in good condition. The grassy areas were nicely groomed and the camping spots were adequately distanced from each other. Every spot came with a picnic table and a place for a fire. It seemed they took note of past feedback because the pit toilets were neat and well supplied with toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and air fresheners. The cost was $20 per night, which I believed to be a fair price. The location was ideal with easy access to the picturesque highway 14 and a simple journey to Sheridan. I wouldn't mind returning to this place.

A hidden treasure of a C/G located on the main road up into the Big Horn Mountains on the east side via Highway 14 .Tucked away on the edge of the little town of Ranchester (NNW of Sheridan) is this park located on a trout river meandering alongside. No electric or water, but plenty of shade, peace and quiet and a good base camp for playing in the Big Horns or carousing in Sheridan, WY. You are in real cowboy country here. Lots of cattle ranching nearby, cowboys on horseback tending cows, recreation galore in the Big Horns. It has it all!

There are no hookups here but we thoroughly enjoyed this campsite. There's a few spots with shade and we were able to get a pretty spacious spot. It was very empty on the weekdays (one other RV) and hardly busy on weekends (6 or so RVs). Payment is made on the honor system and you just drop in your money at the entrance. There's a flowing river right by the campsite. They have on site toilets but didn't smell great so we never used them. About 20 mins from Sheridan and 30 mins from bighorn forest. We dumped and filled up at Lazy R campground for $5.

Honor system pay, $6 in state, $11 out of state. Pit toilets, Creek running around the park. Finding it was a little unnerving - south on Gillette St. becomes a winding creekside road until you finally see a sign. Left over the bridge and down a short gravel lane.

Lovely spot with a trout stream running through it. Large sites, back in or pull through. Fresh water spigot. Toilets. Walked across the water on a suspension bridge that lead to town. Stopped for a drink at the Silver Spur Tavern. Very warm friendly place on a cold evening. There is a distant, frequent train in the night. Ear plugs did the trick.

On our way from Bozeman, Mt. to Rapid City SD. this was the PERFECT stopping point. A cute, quaint town. Not a lot open when we arrived. It is a super small town, so plan ahead! We did get our pick of spots at the park. TIP - You can find coffee at The Dry Bean Coffee Shed on the way out of town. The owner is very nice and good coffee!

I was hoping to find a dispersed site just up the road at Tongue River but all the sites were taken so I opted for this as I needed just one night on a drive thru. They call this a State Park/Historical Site but basically it’s a town park on the edge of Ranchester. The locals play in the river, picnic, and walk their dogs. It could be a nice park with a little maintenance. The bathrooms are pit toilets and they were disgusting. It’s obvious they don’t get frequent service so they were smelly and filthy. There is a train track nearby so a few times in the night you hear the whistles. It was tolerable for one night but I’ll pass on this place in the future.

Beautiful Setting, lots of grass, a river that borders the park. Easy access for our 35' fifth wheel and good AT&T cell service. A little play ground for the kids. A bath house (I did not use it). There were several fishermen trying there luck. The sites were fairly level. Some of the sites the parking was very narrow. Large sites but the grass drops off by a foot or more. So there was not much room next to the RV, The grass had not been mode for several weeks so it was very long with lots of insect activity in the grass. We road our bikes into town which is a very small town. We had lunch at one of the two salons in town, A very good meal. The few people we spoke with were all very friendly and helpful. The information center is small and has a nice little museum that has information about the Connor Battlefield. We could hear a train in the back ground, but it was off in the distance and was not very loud.

We were glad Campendium had this park listed. We'd just passed Sheridan when it started raining heavily and the winds were extremely gusty. Paid $16 for out of state in Sept. 2019. Vault bathroom was very clean.

We are part timers and work from our 5th wheel (so we need Verizon LTE) we have a solid 2 bars LTE. Great spot, on the river, great shade. We are able to ride our paddle boards on the river and ride bikes into the small town from our site. Showed up on a Sunday around 4:30 pm in July. Campground is about half full. Had to fill water up near the restroom. Playground but due to Covid are not letting our kids play there. Sites have good amount of space in between. There is some traffic and occasional train in the distance, but not too bad.

This park is simple. clean and not packed with rv's. It is used by plenty of walkers, dog friendly, level spaces, both pull thru and back in plus day use area. We stayed in a pull thru next to river. Cell was decent with Verizon and excellent toilet paper... it's the little things!

After an 11-hour day on the road this was a perfect stop for one night. Relatively quiet with the exception of the freight trains traveling through Ranchester. Suggest staying in the sites near the creek at the beginning of the camp ground loop. Sites are basic with gravel pad and picnic tables.

We stayed while on our trip to South Dakota. Really needed a break from a long drive. We had planned to just spend 1 night, but it was so pleasant we stayed longer. It’s a small county park right along a small river. It’s shaded with large trees. There is a playground for the kids. Lots of locals walk their dogs but it wasn’t a problem. You can hook up to power for an extra $10. The price was $16 for non residents but only $9 for residents. A really sweet spot.
