We arrived around 3pm on a Wednesday in late September and there were several water/electric sites available. We stayed 4 days and everyday people were coming and going so it seems generally easy to find a spot that works for your rig. Check out is at 12pm so if you come around then, you’ll have the best chances. The best part about the campground is the free shuttle that takes you to Bar Harbor and throughout Acadia NP. Download the app “myStop” for bus routes/schedule times or google search the Island Explorer bus for details on their website. We stayed in M loop which is very woodsy and spacious. Cell signal there was decent, 2 bars with Verizon and we could stream the football game. Loops A-H are not in the woods and therefore less private next to your neighbor. Loops L-O were woodsy and very spacious. When you arrive, you’ll first go into the office where they will give you a map. Then you will drive around the campground and pick your favorite spot before heading back to the office to claim it. Full HU is $48, W/E is $44 and dry is $38 a night. Cash only, but there is an ATM in their office. Showers are $0.25 for 5 minutes which is very reasonable compared to other places I’ve stayed who wanted $1 for 3 minutes. With all the great things to do here (arcade, pool, playground, basketball court, free shuttle stop, mini golf across the street, etc.) the price is well worth it and I highly recommend you stay!

This should be a tent only campsite. Staff was rude. Location is the only thing this campground has going for it.

This family run campground is a real pleasure to be at. It's all First Come, First Serve, which I love. There are sites with electric and water, sites with full hookups, and dry sites. Generators are not allowed. I had a dry site, first in the woods then in the open area. If you stay for a week, the 7th day is free. There are places with a beautiful view of the sea and islands. The rest rooms are old but clean. There are also numerous porta-pottys conveniently placed. Each restroom has a dishwashing sink. A free shuttle bus that allows dogs stops at the entrance. Bar Harbor is a short hop away on the bus. Other buses go to various points in Acadia National Park. I loved staying here.

Bass Harbor Campground is an older family campground that could use some updating (bathrooms, laundry facilities). They had a nice heated pool that was great to jump into after a long day of hiking at Acadia NP. The WiFi was great too with pretty reliable service compared to many other campgrounds that advertised it but they never seem to work. AT&T Wireless was really good too. Our site wasn't the best (#309) as the fire ring was awkwardly placed preventing us from backing up far enough to set up our stinky slinky to the dump location. Not a big issue with our Class B as we just dumped at the dump station on the way out. Free cable was a nice amenity as well. Bass Harbor lighthouse a short walk away. While they did have a stop right at the campground for the free Acadia Island Shuttle, it wasn't convenient due to run frequency, need for connections, and early run stop times. We just parked at the MDI high school and caught the shuttles there. Was able to stay out much longer including dinner at Bar Harbor as a result

The grounds are huge, sites well spaced, facilities reasonable and clean, a nice pool and super kids play ground. The best part is No reservations, all done on a first come first served basis. And add to that, No generators and No fireworks. The only thing they need to make it perfect is No campfires!!

I normally avoid private campgrounds, but I wanted to visit Mount Desert Island and the national parks were jampacked, so after looking at my options I settled in here. It’s a first come first serve campground, but I arrived around 10 am on a Tuesday and had no trouble getting an electric/water site. They have lots of amenities, which I didn’t use because I was too busy shuttling around the island seeing the sights, but friends of mine stayed near the pool and loved that area. There is a convenient shuttle that you can grab to the visitor center at Acadia National Park and from there grab shuttles to anywhere in the park, including the village of Bar Harbor. It was so convenient. The campground is super clean, well-maintained and quiet. The wifi was decent in my location. I would definitely stay here again when visiting Mount Desert Island.

We stayed here for 3 nights in tents. The pad was flat, but wet with some mud and lots of mosquitos. Other pads had puddles or raised platforms. Very convenient to gas station, light house, store and a couple of decent restaurants. Expect early morning engine and horn noise from near by harbor. Owners are very nice, the bathrooms are dated but clean, the showers are great. Atmosphere is much more laid back and more pleasant then the east part of the island. Plenty of trails near by. May have been better in a camper, although there seem to be very few spots for larger rigs.

Beautiful tent camping in shade with lots of spaces. Just need to be aware of ticks since your in the shade of the trees. Showers excellent 5 minutes for 0.25 cents hot and have laundry for $1 wash and 1$ dryer. Campgrounds are spaced out well for tents. No hock ups for tent sites. Cell service is poor 1 to 2 bars of AT&T. Campgrounds has free WiFi but is just ok for steaming with multiple buffering slow downs
