Narrung Ferry Campground

Large free campground with lots of level grassy areas, suitable for caravans. The campground is situated near where the ferry crosses the entrance to Lake Alexandrina from Lake Albert on the Murray River, so there is definitely the opportunity to fish here, however I never had any luck.

Trig Campground

This is a large, flat and well grassed campground with plenty of open space. The openess and low vegetation surrounding this campsite makes it a bit less desirable in windy weather as there is not a lot of shelter provided.

Mannum Campground

Fairly open campground on the banks of the Murray River near Mannum. Great little spot if you need or want to be right on the river, with boat ramp access. It is definately not the most secluded of sites and you will likely be sharing it with other campers however quite comfortable.

Chookarloo Campground

Lovely bush camping among native forest in the Kuitpo Forest Reserve near Meadows in South Australia. (Closed during fire danger season (Dec to Mar)There are basic facilities here (toilet, sheltered picnic tables and a water tank).

On a sharp bend, on the banks of the Murray, this popular camping site has plenty of room to camp among the large established gum treesNumerous cleared areas for vans/motor homes, well shaded, can be difficult to negotiate if recently rain has fallen.

Baan Hill Picnic Area Campground

Baird Bay Campground

This community maintained campground is right on the waters of Baird Bay, and although it only has minimal facilities is quite comfortable and roomy. Sites are mostly gravel/sand and suitable for tents camper trailers and vans.

Waitpinga Campground

In coastal mallee scrub, a short stroll from the beach, suitable for tents and camper trailers. Waitpinga Beach There is a walking track Waitpinga Beach (about 600m) or you can drive / walk down Dennis Road about 1. 3km to the carpark at the end of the road.

The Gap Campground

A large, open campground on the western side of the Yorke Penninsular, South AustraliaThis is fairly popular spot, and area is fairly open, so you may be looking at the campers next to you. It is a fairly large area though, and the ground has a little grass cover, so is suitable for tents.

42 Mile Crossing Campground

Large, easily accessable campground with walking (or 4wd) access to the beach. A nice spot to base for exploring the dunes/beaches of Coorong National park, with toilets, picnic tables and large grassed camping areas.

Sheringa Beach Campground

Basic bush camping behind sand dunes, with a short stroll over the dunes to the beach. This is a great spot if you want a bit of seclusion and don't mind not having all the creature comforts. I have been told that you can catch a few Salmon here, but for the life of me I can't seem to get one.

Frank Potts Reserve (Langhorne Creek) Campground

Free camping in shady roadside reserve, just outside Langhorne Creek. The area is very well kept and only a short distance from town. Not a long way off the road, so can get some noise from passing trucks. Friendly locals and lovely site.

Ocean front camping in very large level council reserve. This campground gets very busy at times, particularly with the caravaning croud. The water is very shallow and makes for easy crabbing.

This is a lovely shady campsite in the National Park. The sites are small and it gets quite busy during holidays. Has lots of wild life and a nice walking track along the riverbed. AccessThis campsite is accessable with regular 2wd vehicles.
