Texan RV Park

9024 US Hwy 175 West
75751, Athens
Texas, États-Unis

Welcome to our RV Park ! It is located between two beautiful lakes nestled in the trees of deep East Texas. We have wide gravel sites with full hook-ups in a picturesque setting. Most sites have a concrete patio. We have a small clubhouse with a deck and gazebo extended over one of the lakes. Our rates are very reasonable and we are open all year. Stay with us for a day, a week, a month, or as long as you like.

All sites are nice but Site 118 is outstanding!!! Great staff and facilities. If you own an RV Strongly recommend the campground and school. I was only here for a week long class but learned a ton. I am a much better and safer RV traveler. Yep, the campground is great!!!

Nice long pull thru spots. Easy entrance and exit. Well kept, really clean and quiet. Lots of space in the dog park and the dog relief area. Excellent cellular data on T-Mobile. We work remotely during the week and had no issues with video or audio calls.

Stopped here for an overnight, park with lots of permanent residents, easy pull through, reservation was easy over the phone. We were arriving after hours so they sent a text with the park map so we could find out site. Easy access right off of the highway. No LP fill station.

My first RV Park experience was excellent. The site managers were very helpful and friendly. I got my propane tanks filled here. Very close to Walmart and the cheapest gas in town.

11/19/2019 picked our new Casita Freedom Deluxe 17ft. from the factory in Rice Texas. They recommended American RV. Nice quiet park with some permanent residents. Owners and operators are very nice and helpful. Filled up our new Casita propane tanks. The park has full hookups with pull thru sites. Sites fairly level and paved. Bathrooms clean. Laundry are is available. Provided us with a Welcome Packet of the area. If you stay here you have to go to the Cotton Patch Restaurant. The food is great along with the service. Thanks American RV.

I stayed here with two travel trailers. I was buying a Casita from the factory close by and they recommended this place. I also use this campground to sell my existing camper since there are about 96 sites and close to a highway. The RV park is quiet, the manager Debra is very friendly and accommodating. The sites are a bit tight but manageable. Overall place was clean and presentable. I did not use the showers or toilets but I assume they are clean since they are a member of Sam's. Good place to stock up with necessary supplies. The old part of the town is interesting place to walk around

Unfortunately we only stayed one night. It was a very beautiful, quiet and super clean campground. Loved the grounds and couple different ponds. The bathrooms and showers were incredibly clean as was the washer and dryers. A total separate one for dog bedding only! The pads are gravel but quite level. Each space has a small grassy area with a wooden picnic table. Small street lights to give some light at night. While we were there, they were busy making even further improvements, adding a cafe. Don at the front office was extremely helpful each time I called and very kind and so jovial. One evening on our walk, we had the pleasure of talking with the husband/wife team who manages the park. Once again very kind and willing to answer all our questions about the park and the RV school attached to the park. Probably the only draw back was the tiny nats and mosquitoes, but that comes with camping.

The Texan RV Park is easy to find and about 5 miles outside of Athens TX. Sites were good size and they have the ability to fit any size RV. They also have a nice dog run area. I attended some of the NRVTA training which is on site and enjoyed the training. However, the NRVTA just got accredited and changes are being made. No more long stays and the prices are going up. They are building more sites and also have numerous cabins to rent. Their shower/laundry facility is very clean. The down side to this park is that it sits on 37 acres and the only have 4 showers, 4 washers and 4 dryers. They need another facility in the "back" area for those guests. Also no kids play area.

We stayed in site 120 for 5 weeks, January- February while taking the RV Basics course and RV Tech Course in a 40' class A with our CRV towed. We has plenty of room to park and nice space between sites. Very quiet park. Appreciated being close to the bathhouse and club house. So nice to meet up with others in the clubhouse or outside around the firepit. Even enjoyed a super bowl pot luck in the clubhouse organized by John and Vicki one of the many workcamper couples living there. Everyone is very nice and extremely helpful. The office is great with reservations, which we changed a couple times, holding packages for you and being available to refill propane tanks. The bathrooms were always clean, with plenty of hot water for showers. Laundry facilities were nice to have with plenty of coin operated washers and dryers. Even a change machine on the wall. The sites in the far back seemed to get much less wind, but are furthest from the bathhouse and laundry. From what we could tell, many sites are not level. We had to manually level our coach with large wood boards on just the passenger side in site 120. Not a big deal, but good to know. We camped at Texan RV Park in a Motorhome.

Before the park changed hands in July 2017, it was a beautiful, neat, clean, well cared for place to live. People were friendly and sociable. After the new owners took over it steadily went down hill. We were never given any rules and if we were, they would not have been enforced. The manager, Todd, does not believe in slow. Unlicensed people worked on electrical pedestals and filled propane tanks. We observed a workamper drive over trash and not pick it up because he said it was not his duty on this day. People told us they were quoted one rate and it was higher when they arrived. We were in a site where we could see the operation of several aerobic systems. Distribution sprinklers were often plugged for months, or not adjusted so they were spraying into the, once pristine, pond. We observed staff, including the manager, Todd, pumping septic, onto the ground, as well as tanks that were not operating properly and overflowing. Grass was only mowed sporadically, ours maybe once a month, unless we asked. When the rent was raised and we asked if we could now get some services, we were told to cool our jets. We finally left, as did all but one of the long term residents who were there when the changeover took place. It's ok for a pass through, a week or a month maybe, but I would no longer recommend long term. Restrooms and clubhouse were clean.
