The proprietor, Heather, was incredibly welcoming and supportive during our check-in. The hygiene standards of the bathrooms and showers were top-notch. The place also boasts a laundry area, a recreational room, and fire pits. Access from Highway 40 was straightforward. Admittedly, there was some noise from the road, but it was mostly drowned out when we switched on the heater. However, the sound of a diesel truck starting up next to us in the morning was noticeable. Nevertheless, I would not hesitate to book another stay here.

I would stay here again, if I had to. The back in loop sites are very narrow. Our site in particular was so narrow that we had a very long step from our bottom step to the ground (that last step is a duzy!). The sites were not that crammed together, but still closer that we like to be with our neighbors. There was some noise from I-40, but I didn’t find it bothersome. They have hiking trails and a dog park, pool, store, etc. We didn’t have any wi-fi - apparently the tower was struck by lightening the week prior to our visit. The dump station was antiquated with an old school nozzle and not just a regular hose - we were not able to flush our tanks. When I asked about it at the office, the lady looked at me like I was crazy...lol. Overall, not the greatest or worst campground I’ve ever stayed at. I would stay again if no state parks were available.

We stayed for a stop over on our way home from Jacksonville North Carolina to western KY. Easy access from I40. Clean restrooms. We make this trip often and will stay again. (We are new to this as we just bought our truck camper last week) The site was being renovated so site quality is inaccurate. The site was lacking a picnic table but campground staff promptly brought us chairs . Noise level is traffic from I40.

We stayed here over a wet Memorial Day weekend. The park was well maintained and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. They even picked up your trash every morning if you left it at the edge of your site. Wifi access was good while the park was nearly empty, but as is common became inaccessible once the park filled up. We were close to the office so that wasn't the issue, it was really just a bandwidth issue. Our site was in the pull through loop which had a moderate amount of tree cover. A bit muddy/straw covered because they were trying to get the grass to grow. So the dogs tracked it into the trailer a bit. Generally speaking a pretty good site by KOA standards. By this I mean that none of the sites appeared to be level, but they weren't terrible. And like all KOA's they are close together, but this campground wasn't as close as most. Just don't expect the space you get at a state park. I was told they were in the process of upgrading the campgrounds and could see signs of it. They had recently installed several hiking trails and a dog park in the campground which was nice, but they need to improve drainage or put down some gravel as they were quite muddy in the rain. The camp store was very small and wasn't open for extended hours.(opened at 8am closed at 7pm.)

Stopped in for a night to use the laundry, and was surprised by the very decent wi-fi signal. Friendly staff, and full hookups make for a pleasant evening of chores. Listen to their instructions if you are coming from the east, the GPS will take you on a back route that is fun if you don't have a larger rig. Only major negative is the noise from I-40 is pretty loud at night. Use the good wifi to stream some YouTube and just drown it out.

This KOA has two separate camping areas: one for full hook-ups (and close to the campground amenities) and the other down the road a bit for water and electric. We were in the B section that included tent camping and those camping rigs that required only water and electric. The small bath house was clean, with three lockable shower units and a separate male and female toilet facility. The showers had good water pressure and enough room to change and dress without getting wet. There is also an outside sink with hot and cold water for washing of dishes. The surface of the camping area in this section is gravel, dirt and sand and while fairly level, becomes muddy when it rains (which it did several times when we were here). There were several RVs that looked like they had been there for quite a long time; some had people and dogs and others looked as if they were being stored there. When we were here, there were only a few other campers and plenty of room. You can hear/see the cars on Highway 40, but with the doors/windows closed, the sound becomes more muffled. This isn't a very picturesque place, but is about 20 minutes from Asheville. Highway 40 is easily accessed and is a quick drive into town. We were here to see/explore Asheville and were out fairly early and back fairly late, so this place worked for us. The big negative for us? The advertised free wifi. It was set up through a Facebook hot spot and if we used it would have to agree to have FB track us. We used our own data plan instead. NOTE: The $30.88 was for water/electric and included our KOA discount.

Very nice campground. Close to most activities in the area, averages a 20 minute drive. The staff was great. The only con is the interstate noise but its not like they can do anything about that. Recommend staying in F section if possible, close to store, pool, spaces are a little bigger.

This campground was in a great location and had great folks working there. The down side was the location near I-40. It was up on the hill and it was above the road. When trucks went across the bridge, it would shake the trailer. The setting was awesome, but the 24 hours of trucks was too much.

I'll start with the pros- Staff was very friendly. Check in was a breeze. We liked the proximity to Asheville and the restaurant recommendations. Park was clean and well maintained and even though we didn't use the pool, it looked very nice. There seemed to be nature trails all through the park as well. The Cons- Location: there's a steep main entrance and its close to the hwy so there is a lot of road noise. The whole park is hilly. Driving through the park was tight and very uneven. Trees dropped massive amounts of sap on RV and toad. The site was flat but very unlevel. (Tire off ground when using jacks to level rig). The park internet was close to unusable. We're a 40ft rv and had a pull through site but we still had to unhook because the site wasn't long enough.

Pros: very friendly, decent price, close to Asheville, nice size piece of property, nice amenities. Not far away from Interstate 40. Clean fire pits. Trash pick up. Cons: steep and close campsites.

We stayed on September 1,2020 I guess we shouldn’t have been surprised it’s right next to the freeway way, so it is loud all night long. We had a pull through it was level definitely need more gravel, it is muddy. Laundry was closed due to COVID-19, showers are only for the guest staying in the cabins because of COVID-19. We were there for one night and we were glad.

This campground is a very mixed bag of some positives, but some big negatives. The Good: The location is fine for visiting Asheville. It has some amenities like a small pool, small playground, and decent sized dog park along with a couple of trails around the campsite. The check-in lady was friendly and provided a dog biscuit and dog waste bag for our dog. There is daily trash pickup at the campsite. The Negatives: Mud, Mud, Mud. Our site had barely a pebble of gravel, no grass, no hardscape. We parked in mud and walked out our door to mud. Totally unacceptable for $50/night and we wouldn't have stayed the 3 nights if we weren't in town to visit elderly relatives. The site was also sloped left to right and very narrow. There were cabins directly in front of the site and the parked cars there made it a tight turn to exit the site forcing us against some tree branches to avoid the cars. It was tight enough that we didn't take the chance of hooking up our car the night before like we normally do. Other sites varied in condition with some having a relatively decent amount of gravel on them and one or two sites having a wood or concrete "patio" area. The dump area was VERY narrow and overgrown. We would not have taken our RV through it. Not sure why this is, but there were a ton of RVs and cabin campers with large and pretty aggressive dogs. Some were muzzled, others were not and just came out of the open RV door after our leashed dog. Be prepared to smell the paper mill on occasion, but it isn't all the time. The F loop had mild freeway noise. The B loop was significantly noisier. Our rate reflects a 10% KOA discount and the hated kiddie/extra person fees that were $8/day for our daughter and granddaughter. A number of the staff are also pretty heavy smokers. Exiting the CG to go east on I-40 requires either doing a tight u-turn from west of the CG or driving up the narrow windy Wiggins Road to get to I-40. There is not a direct left turn out of the campground to head east. There is CG Wifi that we didn't use. Verizon signal was decent, but we didn't try streaming or uploading anything. This campground has potential, but needs some serious work done, esp. for the price Putting mulch on sloped sites is not a solution to the mud as it just washed out.

Pros are good location and decent price. There's a guy named Todd with TNSRv solutions who lives onsite if you need any work done on your rig. He was fantastic to work with. Cable and strong 50 amp. Cons are I would not call this park big rig friendly. Tight turns, low hanging branches, and generally tight throughout the park. It's also hard to get level here. Another issue they had is mud. It rained a bit not a ton but the place was pretty muddy all day. Also near a busy road so a lot of road noise I had to share my water w/ the site next to me so I had low water pressure the entire time. This was not the case with every site. Cell was decent speeds on Verizon. ATT had a solid signal but slower speeds.

If you're looking to stay on the west side of Asheville this is a great option. There was a nice pool, staff were nice, but we did struggle fitting into our campsite with our rig. If you're looking for FHU I do recommend B17 - B20 if you can fit because you are next to a nice large open grass area instead of rigs on all sides of you. I will say if you have children I highly recommend checking out Asheville East KOA. For nearly the same price you get a lot more amenities that your kids will love.

We felt right at home in the park. It is a good fit for us, but maybe not for others. If you are looking for a resort style park then do not stay here. Best way to describe the park is a bit rustic. Roads and sites are a mix of gravel and dirt. Spaces are reasonably spaced apart. Staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating when we extended our stay. I was warned when we made reservation that our site ( F17 ) would require a 50' hose. What they did not tell me until check in is that you will share a riser with your neighbor. This drove me insane as I watched other campers come in and hook up to our shared water right after manhandling their sewer hose. We ended up moving spots and that issue went away. The location is right next to the interstate, so if road noise is going to bother you then go somewhere else. We sleep with a sound machine and never were disturbed by any sounds. Easy access to Asheville or Waynesville for shopping. AT&T and Verizon were excellent. Overall happy with the visit and would stay here again, just not in F17.
