My experience here was marred by two issues, neither of which were the fault of the park itself. The primary issue was the lack of respect for camping space boundaries by children. They not only cycled across my area, but some even went as far as to throw large mushrooms they found growing nearby at my trailer. I was inside when I heard the impacts. I had to come out and ask them to leave. Needless to say, I was not pleased. But this was not the fault of the park. In addition, my camping spot was situated beneath power lines frequented by birds, leading to my trailer being soiled. Again, this was not the fault of the park. Looking back, I would opt for camping spots on the outskirts of the park, or possibly those that are tucked away. I've come to realize that when a campground offers activities for children, it's best to avoid the paths leading to these activities. Despite these issues, the park itself is quite lovely. I would consider returning, but I'd be more cautious in selecting my camping spot.

Our initial stop after purchasing our mobile camper was this location, during the Christmas season. The atmosphere was enjoyable, with amicable and supportive staff, well-kept surroundings, and spotless lavatories. The regular drive-through spots appeared a bit cramped, so we're planning to opt for a patio spot next time. The vicinity to highways resulted in some noise when outdoors, but it didn't disrupt our sleep. Overall, it was a positive initial encounter. I'm contemplating revisiting this place for the upcoming Christmas season.

Great place to stay. There were fun activities for the kids, a nice warm pool, a camp store with necessities and treats and plenty of staff around. It seems most Rv sites are pull through. We had a space with a little patch of grass and a picnic table. WiFi is free but slow.

Great place, we had a very large tent site that was in the corner and only had one neighbor. The site was nearly perfect, but basket ball court is on the other side of hedge and was loud into the night. Just kids having fun and glad they could. Dog park was a really nice touch and had all kinds of agility course things. Pool is amazing and lots of amenities. Our two nights were mid-week - Tues and Weds and unfortunately these were the exact two days the cafe was closed. I was able to walk to some shopping since moving the truck would take some tear down. Check in was fast and friendly. Weather was perfect, some traffic noise during the night, but not terrible.

PREFACE: Perplexed because I simply cannot figure out how there can be SO MANY kids and dogs here, given the average size of a coach/fifth wheel/trailer. There are at least 200 slips here plus a bunch of cabins and tiny houses. After careful consideration and observation, we have concluded that each individual dwelling unit contains 2.4 adults, 12.7 persons under the age of 18 (PUTAOE) and 1.9 dogs. (This is sarcasm however there are ALOT of children here.) This is by far the best looking park we’ve stayed in so far; the landscaping is absolutely lush and our two small senior dogs LOVE all the grass and are doing their best to keep it fertilized. Most of the slips are pull-through with full hookups, level concrete pads, DIsh Network cable TV. Very large pool area and lots of bikes and stuff for rent. Have not been to bath house or laundry however given the way the place is maintained, I’m sure they’re spotless. AT&T is two bars and property internet is a decent 19 Mb down and 5 Mb up. I’m confident the hamster team here is following the best organic vegan non-GMO diet and a strict exercise routine to create this bandwidth on a daily basis. Bravo! Average daily rate pre-tax was $107.50 and we got a 10% KOA member discount so this is far and away\the most expensive place we’ve stayed and hey, this is the San Diego Metro KOA Resort! 6/10 which would be a 9/10 If they increased the spaces between rigs and decreased the ratio of PUTAOE to dwelling units. On the other hand, if you’re looking for lots of PUTAOE, look no further! Gas prices in AZ were in the $4.90 range and we topped off in Yuma. The cheapest gas we’ve seen here in CA are in the low $6.00 range so with our 55 gallon tank, we won’t be buying any CA gas. And finally, loving the temperature here: it’s 8:30 and temp is 68! Love it!

First time staying here in 10 years. Campground is beautifully landscaped, with nice big RV spots as well as tent and cabin spots. Bike rentals, huge pool, horseshoes and two dog parks and gift shop are just some of the amenities.

This is a large KOA. Spacing is typical for a KOA but not too crowded. There is a lot of activities for kids and 2 dog parks onsite. There's plenty of space for walking around the campground as well. They have a cafe that serves food, bike rentals, multiple playgrounds, a pool etc. Being in the off season, it was full of kids on the weekends and then fairly quite on the week days. The staff is friendly, the grounds are very clean and the bathrooms are nice. I didn't use the shower or laundry. They also have onsite propane. The location is great (only 10 min to San Diego) but yet it was an easy on/off the freeway. The local area it's in (Chula Vista) was not that nice but didn't feel dangerous, just run down. Price was high but not unexpected for the area. If I were going to stay in San Diego again, I'd stay here for sure. I didn't try to use their wifi but hotspots were good. ATT was 10mb d/l and Verizon was 49mb d/l without a booster. Cable channels were good and 50 amp FHU was strong.

Stayed here two nights while exploring San Diego but wish we could have stayed more because there is so much to do in the area. KOA had easy check-in and roads are marked so it's easy to find your spot within the property. We had full Verizon cell service. Grounds were clean, shady and peaceful. This KOA has a construction area where it looks like they're building a new, beautiful pool area. They also have bounce pillows, climbing wall and snack shack. Lots of fun for kids, if you have them. We stayed not for the amenities, but for the convenient location. Showers were clean and separate from bathrooms. You get your own private shower room. Love that. Our site was a nice, level concrete pull-thru. It's KOA, so they're usually tight but these were larger KOA sites. They have landscaping that somewhat hides the neighbors' hook-ups. You can hear distant freeway noise but not enough to ding them for it. It's the city. Employees constantly driving the campground so it felt safe. We will be back to the San Diego area and would stay here again. The Maritime Museum was a full day for us. They have ships, including the Star of India, as well as subs you can explore. Overall, a good place for basecamp while exploring.

We used to live in San Diego and were worried about the accessibility to the city and surrounding areas from Chula Vista. It’s about 8 miles from most places you’d want to go have nice dinners and nightlife, but it’s an easy drive. This is laid out like most KOAs with not much space between pads. There are a lot of nice share trees though, and the recently upgraded pool and hot tub are big and super well done. There’s clean upgraded, modern shower stalls and laundry room, and an on-site cafe that serves hot food and has a few craft beers on tap.

We met up with our daughter and grandsons for a weekend of fun. (It was also a special Christmas weekend so there were lots of scheduled activities.) In addition to all the many things to do in San Diego area, there was something to please everyone. This was the highest we've ever paid to stay anywhere and there was nothing to complain about. Nice new pool and hot tub area; clean, functioning showers, restrooms and laundry. Smooth registration. Attractive landscaping, level site. A little noisy over the weekend with lots of kids/families, plus some highway noise. Wi-fi barely adequate but our AT&T was excellent and Verizon was 3 bars. We want to come back next year!

The good: well kept facilities, vacuumed driveways every day. Tons for kids to do, including “train” rides around the park. Excellent laundry facilities. Climbing wall. Outside and inside games. The bad: road noise 24/7 from all sides, and low-fly helicopters day and night. Very low. The ugly: intermittent cable tv and unusable Wi-Fi.

The empty nesters

We had the deluxe site with a nice patio, firepit, grill, picnic table and chairs. The site was very nice and they would deliver wood directly to the campsite. There is a ton of stuff for kids to do around here and my husband and I ejoyed the hot tub and used the vacuum to clean our truck. Site is well mainatined and flat and the staff helpful and nice. The highway is pretty loud, but I only noticed it at night. The sites are close together, but there are full grown trees and bushses that make it feel more private. It was a 20 minute or more drive from everywhere we wanted to visit.

It is a nice rv campground, it’s fairly close to many San Diego attractions. Very family oriented, it can be loud with all the kids playing and running around the streets, it has tons of activities for the kids. For us, since we don’t have kids, was the dog park, they have two dog pins with obstacles for the furry kids to play.

This is a great site that’s close to the city activity (zoo, balboa park, gaslamp). If you’re looking for serenity, this isn’t it but if you want to come visit San Diego and not pay for a hotel room and have a campfire once or twice then this is perfect. The only drawback is the freeway noise.

If your idea of camping includes full hookups, pool, hot tub, kitchen facilities open to all, immaculately clean showers, a massive maintenance team taking care of the park, and a restaurant with a bar, boy have you found your place. Everything about this facility screams beautiful and loved. There's a bit of construction going on by the pool right now, but otherwise the place is old growth trees, well manicured sites... heck they have a street sweeper that runs through the property and sites to keep stuff clean. Only downfall of this location is its in a bowl surrounded by two highways and an avenue. The highway noise is noticeable outside, but you're in suburban Chula Vista, not a national park. Navy helicopters go overhead occasionally; again, you're within spitting distance of Pacific command.

Staff if very friendly and helpful. All staff was in uniform and ready to help. Park was only half full so not much noise except for Freeway. Not near the water but a nice get a way. Definitely upgrade to a larger site when u come here. We had a large pull through spot ( a little tight getting in and out) it had a wonderful fire pit, BBQ and picnic table. Park is located next to a part of town that looked a bit edgy but there were sidewalks that we were able to ride our EBikes two miles to a crazy seafood place that was also excellent. Lots of shade and a great big huge pool that’s open til 8 or 9. Store is very well stocked with all sorts of things you need and don’t need. I would give this place a solid 9 out of 10. MARQ

I was very skeptical to stay in Chula Vista next to the river - but this park completely surprised me. One of my favorite family campgrounds now. Tons of spots very closely placed together on level pads but with trees and hedges between most so you have privacy. Good hook ups. Very nice pool and take out restaurant (try the breakfast, highly recommend). Watch out for kids on bikes on the roads. Even the cabins (especially the ones by the pool) look super inviting and make me want to leave the RV and try a night in them. Dump available for fee for non-stayers. Propane for sale. Small store with amenities. Lots of tent campers in the grassy area the nights we stayed. Will definitely stay here again in the future.

This is the perfect place for a family getaway. So many great activities for the kids; pool, jumping pillows, bike rentals, climbing wall and much more. Site had plenty of shade and was spacious. Check out this video for a short tour: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=E0HYkA_nQE4
