We stayed at Rivermouth Modern for two nights in early September. As reviewed previously, they enforce the 3pm check-in time, so we left our trailer in the parking lot right adjacent to the Ranger/Check In) while we began our hiking! The campground was neat and clean with acceptable space and foliage between sites. The bathrooms and showers were clean and cared for. We debated between Rivermouth (reportedly quieter and further from the both Falls) and Lower Falls (closer to both falls). Both campgrounds are nice and equal in quality. But Rivermouth has two features that may set it above Lower Falls. Rivermouth is right on the river. If you have a kayak or canoe you can put in right from the campground (right from your site if you're lucky enough to grab one of those). The river there is quiet and peaceful and a terrific place to see the sunset. The other advantage is that it is connected to the Pines Rustic (dry camping) area. A stroll down that road and then on to the group camping areas is as peaceful an evening's walk as you'll find. On the other hand...After two trips to the Upper and Lower Falls, I might next time consider Lower Falls Campground. It's a little closer. Also want to mention the Wheelhouse Restaurant in Paradise. Great place for lunch or dinner.

Showers and bathrooms were clean. Easy check-in. The leaves were just starting to turn for the fall. Beautiful. We’ll be back.

Park is directly on the river with beautiful views and a nice breeze! Nicer and more peaceful than the Lower Falls campground—worth it to drive a bit further to the falls and stay here!

Clean and quiet! Typical state park camping. Little playground for the kiddos. If you do not need electricity, try to get a spot in the pines campground. The sites are more spaced out and shaded in the pines. Firewood and ice avail at park office. We rode bikes to the bay and hiked Around the mouth of the river. The views were stunning and we read stories of the indigenous people who inhabited this area prior to colonization. The bay and river had leeches so we did not swim. The mosquitos were a plenty but a thermacell did the trick. Kayaking/canoeing is lovely here! Many places to put in at the campground. Just a short Walk from your site. We visited the shipwreck museum and it was worth paying to go in the buildings, even with 2 young children. We didn’t stay long but still work seeing it! The beach at the museum is beautiful and not crowded. Great spot to play for a while! We hiked the upper and lower falls. Both were very crowded. I would prefer to stay at rivermouth over lower falls.

The campground is very nice, clean restrooms, great Kayaking close by. Some sites are on the water ours was not yet we had a big site. It was wheelchair accessible the restrooms were right there. We were so glad we didn't camp in the falls campground it was busy & loud there, Rivermouth Campground was nice & quiet. Things to do in the area: Probably a 15 minute ride to Tahquameon falls, some can be seen from the visitor center better falls just a little hike. The Shipwreck Museum is worth going through we did pay to go thru the Museum & houses yet we didn't pay extra to go up in the lighthouse.

Showers were really clean. But campsites were really close together. River has leeches and we were told not to swim there. And couldn't find a sandy beach on the lake. Oswalds bear ranch was a highlight & the woods for kayaking the river was great!

There are 2 sections in this campground. One called "Rivermouth Modern" and the other is "Rivermouth Pines." If you don't need power, I would definitely recommend getting a site along the river in Rivermouth Pines. It's pretty heavily treed, so solar isn't much of an option. If I was going to be in the area again and wanted an electric site, I would try to get site #19 which has both power and a beautiful view. Site #20 would be my second choice in the Rivermouth Modern section. Not all sites are the same, but those along with site #1 which we were in, are nicely spaced and have a decent amount of privacy. We drove up to the Upper Falls campground and preferred Rivermouth of the two. We were only able to get 1 channel of over-the-air HDTV, it was CBS. Very lovely north woods SP amongst the pines and birch trees of Michigan's UP. Heavily wooded with a good number of sites on the river waterfront.
