Heron Point Campground

6214, Birchmont
Western Australia, Australia

A great spot suitable for caravans right on a white sandy beach on the eastern side of Harvey Estuary.
There are basic facilities and flushing toilets. This spot is popular during the peak season (Easter long weekend especially) and day visitors chasing the blue swimmers. I have heard they are planning on upgrading the campground (thanks to all the mining royalties, but don't know if it has happened yet. Nearest dump point is at Williams Road, Pinjarra Fishing The most obvious target here is the Blue Swimmer crab. The water is wide, shallow and calm here so if you are really keen you could try my old crabbing method, a broom handle and a hessian sack. Just wade around in the water till you spot one, pin him down with the broom handle, grab his back leg and chuck him in the sack. It is very efficient, lots of fun and doesn't require any bait... Note: I have had comments that the above method may be outside the permitted methods for catching Blue Swimmer Crabs. See http://www.fish.wa.gov.au/Species/Blue-Swimmer-Crabs/Pages/Blue-Swimmer-Crab-Recreational-Fishing.aspx for more information on permitted methods and seasons. Pets allowed on lead, Fires allowed during allocated times and must be contained within a fire pit Generators 8am-8pm Boat ramp There is a maximum of 25 sites available

Just a little disconcerting that the prime site can be 'occupied' by an absentee camper .

I use to ho camping in dwellingup n waroona alot. After wild parties from othe campers there and them blowing up gas bottles n fighting i found this place. I have now been camping there the past 3 years. My brothers and sisters and all there kids come. Were in our late 20s early 30s and have now got my parents coming with us and they love it. Best of the bush n beach. Not surrounded by a ca4avan park. Fantastic care takers. Couldnt do enough for us. We will be going again real soon.

What a shocking place ..it says 25 sites but there were over 38 vans etc there and they were letting more caravans in To the point where I had two caravans put right on top of me went and saw caretakers and they were so RUDE I was gob smacked when I saw caretaker driving a four wheel motorbike drinking with children around packed up next day and couldn't get out of there fast enough

we camp there often...dogs are allowed on a leash, the new caretakers have made a huge difference to the place ...its clean , novel painted and very friendly..... crabs are all small at the moment but if you want a real buzz kayak out in the bay with the resident pod of dolphins most mornings

That was a horrible campsite I ever had . The other caretaker woman just came down to our tent check the crabs we caught & straight away call the ranger w/out any excuses and say nothing at all, she is very rude also we didn't bring our pet dog because it says in the ads that NO PETS ALLOWED but we saw a dog strolling around the area of the campsite. Toilets stink and personally I'm not gonna recommend this camp area.

Hi personally I thought it was a great place ... It hasn't been upgraded but tats k but since this caretaker has come in .. The toilets stink of stale urine ,He doesn't look after the campers welfare , parties he doesn't walk around like the others and say turn down the music until the morning .. That is not fair on other campers .. Chris and Glenn were great caretakers they made sure everyone was happy and they walked around about 10 pm to say hi .. But this caretaker locks himself up with no respect to others in his caravan ? Personally he isn't friendly and very lazy
