This location was amazing (our previous KOA encounters hadn't been the best)! On a journey with 3 children, we appreciated the super tidy bathroom that could be locked! The employees were exceptional and they had an entertaining pancake maker for morning meals :)

The operation of Grants Journey KOA is efficiently managed, and it features a kitchen that prepares dinner and offers delivery to your location. It provides complete hookups and despite the parking lot ambiance, there's a fantastic hiking trail connected to the park. The "Journey" narrates the geological past of the region - featuring volcanoes, lava terrains, and impressive mountain sceneries. During our one-night stay, we explored this brief trail on four occasions.

We spent a single evening there and enjoyed dinner from their onsite eatery, the cuisine was excellent.

Everything was as advertised. Staff were very courteous and helpful. Site was level and everything worked well. Bathroom and laundry facilities well equipped and clean. Great for a one night stay. Nice scenery. Only issue we saw was many sites were narrow and close together. This did not affect us as we had an end site and no one next to us.

What a great little gem of a KOA, easy access, level sites and most of all some of the best staff we have encountered. We love the dinner and the breakfast. Highly recommended!

We stopped here for 3 nights on the way to Camp Verde Arizona. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. A continental breakfast was included. We arrived during the Albuquerque Baloon Festival so the campground was packed. Lot sizes were adequate and access was easy. The only negative was the train coming through town during the night. However, we quickly grew accustomed to it and was not a problem. A dinner service delivered to your camper was offered. We did not try it as we tend to be out during that time. Overall I would highly recommend. The Ice Cave and Volcano attraction is just down the road and we’ll worth seeing.

Really pleasant stay here! The campground was pretty basic, level gravel sites. Lots of pull-throughs and full hookup sites at reasonable prices. New bathrooms, individual showers and plenty of hot water. The BIG DIFFERENCE here were the people in the office and the delivered to your site dinners! The folks that run this place are awesome, friendly and helpful, and the food is really amazing. Try the turkey dinner or the barbecue… oh, and PIE with ice cream on the side. Stay here if you’re in the neighborhood!

As other reviewers have noted, the lava flow with the placarded trail make this place fairly special. I'll note that the bathrooms have been redone and are nice. Entering the single outside door, one enters a corridor with four doors to choose from. The two closest to right and left have a sink and toilet. The two further in on the left have a toilet, sink, and shower. All else remains as noted by other reviewers... dinner service if you arrive early enough, continental breakfast from 7-9, good pet areas (would be better if some grass were present), wi-fi typical of campground wi-fi, etc. It is convenient to the interstate while being far enough away to make it unnoticeable.

Managed to get their last 50 amp slot on Sunday night. Plugged in, nothing happened. Their maintenance folks tried to help. Power at pedestal but not to my RV. Determined it was my power cord. Unfortunately they didn’t have the part in stock. They are refunding my money as I left and Boondockers at Cracker Barrel. But they really tried to help us

Stayed here overnight on our way to and from the Grand Canyon. Easy on and off the interstate. Nice walking trail and dog area. Campground is in the lava fields so very unique landscape. Owners seem to be reinvesting and making it even nicer.

The facilities for showers and toilets are new and well kept. They offer free continental breakfast and a great selection of snacks to buy. They have WiFi but it’s typical park internet and awful, sorry just being honest. They have cable and full hook ups. The sites are a little tight. We enjoyed and will come back.

This KOA is very nice the staff were friendly. They even have a dinner menu you can order and have it delivered to your camper after a long day of travel! They have a nice gift shop type area, and we got cookies at check in. The campsites weren’t super large but for 1 night, they had a cool trail with informative signage about the area and the history. It was very nicely done and a continental breakfast but we didn’t partake in it.

We like KOAs for long driving days because you always know what to expect—level sites, hookups, friendly employees. This one had the added bonus of a .25 mile walking trail though an old lava flow right off the parking lot—this made getting some steps in for me and our dog easy and safe!
