We stayed in one of Emigrant SP’s FHU sites (30 amp), and while our site was long enough and pretty easy to back into, the sites vary significantly. All of the sites are fairly narrow and the pads tend to be pretty crumbly, cracked, and uneven. I would guess this is an older park, and Google Satellite and Street views proved quite helpful for selecting a site. The CG is pretty, full of mature pines, and offers a nice nature trail (however, a little rain easily floods the trail and where it’s not flooded, it’s muddy). As other reviewers point out, the highway is right there, and there was a fair amount of daytime noise. However, we didn’t find it to be that bad and enjoyed a pretty quiet stay. While this park is easy to access, it’s not terribly close to town, ie. gas or groceries, but Verizon worked fine without the booster. We would stay here again, despite being a bit pricey at $37 a night +$8 booking fee.

We found the last open hookup site without a res, for a quick overnight stay. There are only a few FHU sites and they seem to all be closest to the fwy, and the noisiest. Nice campground in the trees, but I would only stay again as an overnight stop. Too noisy to really relax and unwind. Good Verizon service.

This is a beautiful campground. However, you depend on solar to recharge, too many evergreen trees. Plus lots of highway noise from I84. The rest stop in Ontario, OR was quieter. B03 and B05 are close and due to the angle of B05 I thought a large 5th Wheel was going to back into me after dark.

So I read reviews about the highway noise and I thought, "Oh, it can't be that bad." But it really is pretty loud. Our spot backed right up to the frontage road that runs parallel to the highway and we couldn't sit outside and talk without speaking loudly to be heard over the road noise. Thankfully, our site had full hookups, so once we were inside with the ac running we really couldn't hear it. I just didn't want to hang out outside here the way I usually do at a campsite. The spots are closer together than I like, so that combined with the noise is a big negative for me. Overall, it fills the need for a convenient spot with hookups but I'd say this is only good for a quick night's rest on your way to somewhere else. The area is beautiful though and the park is well maintained.

This CG is right on the freeway. So if you are sensitive to freeway noise including truck traffic at night, you might want to avoid this place. If you are capable of ignoring the freeway noise, of just turning it into white noise then it is a really nice little park about halfway between Pendleton, OR and La Grande, OR. One of the better prices on firewood I have seen, you get a little cart full for only $5. We had good AT&T but absolutely no Verizon. [Actual Date of Stay 05/09/16]

It is really pretty here, wooded, shady, clean . . . but it is located on the very busy I-84, we really want to give it a better rating! The sites are okay, some a bit close together. All sites are paved and pretty level with a fire pit and table. Full hookups for $24, nonelectrical sites were cheaper. There is a horse and group camp as well as cabins and picnic area. Some, but not all sites can be reserved. There was some Oregon Trail history, a nature path, a large grassy area.

We stayed here late August, 2021 - reserved ahead of time for two nights. Had a full hook up site for $30. Definitely close to the neighbors, but they were nice so we were fine! Cool history here and Oregon Trail wagon ruts. Good walking the dog, nice trails. Noise from the highway, but it didn't bother us. Green, beautiful and smelled great!

This campground is hard to review because it really is a beautiful, wooded campground that's extremely convenient when traveling along I-84. The sites are a decent length and fairly level, but some are at the wrong angle to the road for parking easily. I think there are 16 full hookup sites here, and 5 of them are available year-round, though the water is shut off at a certain point. (Water is available at the restrooms year round.) Most of the sites are incredibly shady, so I don't know how much sun solar panels would get in one of the non-hookup sites. While I didn't go in the bathrooms or showers, it was nice to see that the showers here are accessed individually, which is always a nice safety feature. There was one camp host onsite when we stayed (9/30/21-10/2/21), but it appears there are normally two. This little park sits right along the route of the Oregon Trail, and during the summer months, appears to have ranger talks. Wood is available for sale for $5 for a cart load. This is a smaller park without a check in kiosk, so make sure to know your site number if you have a reservation. But, as everyone else as mentioned, the convenient location comes with road noise. A lot of road noise. While we could hear the noise when we were in our trailer, it wasn't terrible. But it was very loud when we were outside and sitting outside wasn't all that enjoyable. Some of the sites literally back up to the Interstate and you can watch people drive by as you sit at your site. We had noticed a few people with their hoods propped open, so we asked the Camp Host if there was a packrat issue. He said, "Oh yeah, they're terrible. I've worked here for a long time and am on my fourth truck. This is the first one they haven't gotten to yet, but I do have one somewhere in my trailer making a mess of things." We popped our hood in the evening to deter them from settling in and had no issues. I just thought I'd mention it because I didn't see the issue referenced here or in any other online reviews. I wanted to rate this campground higher because it IS beautiful, but between the road noise and the packrats, we wouldn't stay here again, therefore I couldn't go higher than 3 stars.

Based on some reviews reporting freeway noise and my own preference for more a more "roughin'-it" camping experience, I honestly wasn't looking forward to spending my mini-family reunion here. It turns out the my kids loved having showers and flushing toilets! All of the cousins, aunts, and uncles enjoyed Ranger Diane's weekend presentations at the amphitheater - one on area wildlife and another on Oregon Trail history - as she's an engaging story-teller. And although the freeway noise was hard to tune out, I did get restful sleep overnight, (even as a tent camper), and was impressed by how quiet the campground stayed over a weekend. (No rowdy campers drinking and yee-hawing at odd hours!) Finally, I use AT&T and was really happy to get a connection so that I could check in with my pet sitter. :-)

I LOVE sites like this - although my partner and I disagree slightly. For me, it's an awesome PNW experience/campground. Nestled in the evergreens, great facilities (showers/bathrooms/dump-station/full-hookup sites/cabins). The downside is that it is VERY close to the interstate, and the road noise can bother folks who are sensitive to that. For me, it sounded more like "wind through the trees" and less like the typical "rest area" experience. For my partner, not so much.

The park is really nice & very pretty- old trees and large sites, BUT I84 is directly next to the park. Imagine big rigs passing by all night long! We were advised that the park preceded the highway by 20 years, and that is just so sad. This park could be one of the very best we’ve ever stayed, but the noise is throughout the park & horrible.

The sites are nice, the setting is beautiful, and the camp host was very friendly and helpful but the freeway was only a couple of blocks away and way too noisy. There are some nice trails that take you away from the noise.

Easy or get to while traveling through and very well maintained. The host and hostess were very helpful getting checked in and setting up as it was getting dark. Will, certainly remember this campground and stay again. Their was some freeway noise but we had a good nights sleep anyway.

Tent sites are $17 and RV's can camp in them. The showers are in a separate bathhouse. The place is well kept and the Rangers are fabulous. The Rangers will take you to see the Oregon Trail ruts that have been recently discovered on the park property. Yes, the freeway noise is horrific. A high fence between the park and the freeway would be expensive but worth it. You cannot carry on a conversation if your campsite is in the lower A's. I was in A6 the first night and moved. The Blue Mountains are beautiful. The Ranger stated they would lend snow shoes if you came in the winter.

Driving westward on I-84 in early December, we needed a place to spend the night between Boise and Portland--Emigrant Springs State Park fit the bill as they keep a small handful of sites open into the winter. As we climbed higher into Oregon’s Blue Mountains, we found ourselves leaving the high desert scrub and entering a winter wonderland. By the time we arrived at Emigrant Springs State Park, we were in full-on Frosty mode. While I-84 was clear of snow and ice, as soon as we exited we found ourselves navigating a rutted, crusty mix of snow and frozen slush. We pulled into the park and noted that the water was secured to our site because of the freezing temperatures. We looked for the water faucet at the bathhouse, but didn't find it. Luckily, we had enough water in our tank to get us through the night if we showered in the bathhouse. (Later on, I found the water faucet inside a box next to the drinking fountain--deceptively labeled "Water"!). Regardless, we spent a glorious (if a bit loud due to the proximity to I-84) evening camped in a virtually empty state park, nestled amongst beautiful snow covered cedars trees. It was beautiful. The noise from the interstate wasn't an issue with the windows tightly shut and the furnace keeping us toasty. The bathhouse was clean and warm. The separate shower rooms were all clean and warm. The shower water was HOT, HOT, HOT. The stars were fantastic. I'm not sure I would want to actually camp here in the summer because of the ever present noise from the interstate, but it was great for an overnighter.

I made sure I reserved a site away from I-84 hoping to alleviate the noise but it still sounds like I'm camped on the highway. I can only imagine what the sites backed up to the highway sound like! The good is that it's easily accessed and well maintained CG. It's dark so the night skies are brilliant with stars! They provide brochures for close by campgrounds but none for this campground.
