On holiday in Sweden.

Sweden is a beautiful country in northern Europe, known for its breathtaking nature, innovative design and rich history. It is the perfect destination for nature lovers, with countless national parks, forests and lakes to explore. In winter, Sweden offers excellent opportunities for winter sports, such as skiing and snowboarding. There are also plenty of cultural attractions, such as the royal palace in Stockholm and the medieval city of Visby. Swedish cuisine is also an experience in itself, with traditional dishes such as köttbullar (Swedish meatballs) and gravlax (marinated salmon). Don't forget to enjoy the famous Swedish fika - a cosy coffee break with sweets.

The climate in Sweden

Sweden is centrally located in Scandinavia and has four types of climate. The southern part of Sweden has a temperate maritime climate, type Cfb according to the Köppen climate classification. The weather and climate type here correspond reasonably well to that of the Netherlands. The middle part of Central Sweden (Svealand) has a temperate continental climate (type Dfb) and the northern half of Sweden has a cool continental climate (type Dfc). Sweden's climate is characterised by relatively high summer temperatures and fairly mild winters compared to neighbouring countries at the same latitude. The country benefits from being located on the leeward side of the mountains in Norway. These mountains block most of the precipitation and depressions. In addition, the mountains create a foehn effect in the summer months, which means that even in the north of Sweden it can become tropically warm.
