This campground has a lot of great amenities such as ropes courses, BMX track, nice mini golf course, and a stocked camp store. But it is also very convenient to get to the beach - simple walk or bike ride a few blocks and you are there! Friendly folks, they keep to the quiet hours pretty good. Some spots can be tree covered and some are open, but the staff was good about letting us look at the options before choosing our site. I will keep this one on my list to come back to when we are back in that area!

My family planned our vacation here for July 20201 one camper coming in on a Sunday and the other two on Wednesday. we book on-line and got confirmation of our sites and even my daughter who was 2 sites away paid the extra money to guarantee her site. Having grand kids that where going to be sleeping in different campers we where all together, that way when the adults where by fire we could see the campers. well today I get a call and was told that they had to move me and my daughter because they where able to rent our sites out for seasonal, so now we where going to be spread out. one site was half way across the park. I have dealt with a lot of parks and never have I been treated this way. she did offer 10% off my stay (50 bucks). but she didn't want to hear that I wouldn't be able to spend time with the family at night if we where separated and the kids went to bed. She did make one comment, that we make more money of seasonal' s well I understand that than make your park a seasonal park. She was asked to move some other people to get us together and she said that she could because they already paid, I said I have already paid and she said yes but their site didn't get turned into a seasonal. I have been going to Powder Horn for years and was going to trying a new place. please don't book this place unless you want to be moved so that you have to cancel your vacation. the sad part is they don't care because its a busy place and they will rent the spot. you confirmation sheet means nothing

First of all, the base price for our site only includes 2 adults. Why would you have a kid friendly park and not include kids in the price? The arcade was more expensive than most arcades and tried 3 times to call to see about the zip line, the number one reason we stayed here and was on hold for for ever and then told to leave a message. Very frustrating! Even more frustrating was that main laundry’s all 10 washing machine was out of order the 3 days we were there. Since I had a lot, I had to put everything in our truck and go to another laundry facility on site. I had to wait every time for people to take out their stuff from the washing machine. I ended up taking all of my wet clothes to the first laundry, where the washing machines were not working. Thank goodness they worked. It was by far the most expensive washing that I’ve done...2.75 and the dryer was 2, but I was able to combine loads in the dryer that made it a little better. Kids are everywhere without any adults in sight. Since my truck is up high, I was a nervous wreck going from one side of the campground to another. Kids were riding scooters, bikes and motorized bikes all over the place without any worry of what they were driving into. I’ve waisted a good 3 hours of my vacation and a lot of money on this place.

We stayed in the back "L" section which is near the rear exit and so convenient to walking to the beach and pier. The sites are close together and there is not any privacy between sites, but that seems pretty typical with campgrounds in the northeast. We were disappointed that the ropes course/zip lines were only open on the weekends; we would have liked to try that during the week with our kids. They have 4 pools, and mini-golf for an extra charge. It's expensive to have a guest. My aunt drove up to visit us from Boston and it cost her $12 to come and stay with us for the night. That seems excessive. Check-in was easy and the staff was friendly. It is a great location for visiting Old Orchard Beach. Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile all worked well there. A train runs right behind the site we stayed in. It was noisy, even during the night, but we use our AC fan overnight which helps to drown outside noise so it wasn't an issue to us.
