Shadbolt Campground

Australia

NOTE: It appears camping is no longer permitted at this campground. It is now designated a picnic area. A clearing in open forest of Red Ironbark backed by a mixture of Yellow Gum (White Ironbark) and Grey Box with Whipstick mallee (blue, green, and bull mallees) on clay and rocky ground.
Hot in summer. Originally an eucalyptus oil distillery site there are a few peppercorn trees and cacti scattered around the dam, all contributing to provide the most attractive camp around Bendigo. Now formally designated a picnic ground. The fenced, level cul-de-sac car park can be crowded with picnickers at weekends and constrains access to the facilities (3 benches, 2 BBQs). Rated 4.1/5 Best in spring when wildflowers are spectacular.
This campsite is in Greater Bendigo National Park Predominately made up of grassy woodlands of box and ironbark, this is a great park for exploring and camping. More Information...
