I reserved via RoverPass online. I received a follow-up email prior to my arrival assigning me site #3. When I arrived that site had a large trailer in it so I just parked in an adjacent spot and tried to get in touch with Sherry the owner via the number provided. It went to voicemail but she arrived about 10 minutes later to sort things out. When I tried to hook up my 30 amp surge protector in the spot I was parked in, it gave me an "open ground" error and wouldn't let current through. Apparently, several sites on the interior of the loop were newly wired with 50 amp and there was an issue. Sherry was very apologetic, contacted her electrician (apparently the problem is in the pre-wired electric pedistals) and moved me to a regular 30 amp site which was much more level as well. Once that was sorted out (it was nearly 100 F that day) the stay was fine. I dropped by in December 2021 to check the place out and was suitably impressed to return for a stay. It's not a fancy park but lovingly decorated and reasonably maintained. There were perhaps about another half-dozen campers. Several of them let their dogs wander off leash but were attentive to make sure they didn't go too far. One thing I missed was a nice walking trail in the woods immediately to the right of the park as you enter. It's a lovely area of the state with several more camping areas down the road. My main reason for visiting the area are the fantastic Forest City MTB Trails just east of St. James. The parking area is small and not really RV friendly but OK for smaller rigs. It's a great trail system. Cellular was fine with AT&T 21 dl & 5 ul.

We stayed here for an overnight while traveling cross county on I-44. We often seek out quiet campgrounds away from train tracks and interstates as we traverse the country. We really do not like those “easy off/easy on” campgrounds that are assaulted all night long by highway or train noise. By this criteria, this small campground fit the bill perfectly. There are no amenities except for peace and quiet, shade and an amazingly friendly and helpful owner. It is so quiet as I write this review that the only sound I hear are the crickets and an owl off in the distance. This would also be an excellent base for a longer stay if one wanted to explore the area in greater depth. The sites are the standard size for a good commercial campground and offer sufficient space to enjoy sitting outdoors. The utilities all worked properly. Our 38 foot Motorhome had no problem with our back in site. A larger Motorhome or fifth wheel might have some issues. If you have a larger rig, make sure to discuss this with the owner as you book your site. She is quite familiar with the various sites in her CG and can competently advise you of your prospects. Both Verizon and T-Mobile were fast enough to stream video. We will definitely stay here again!

We had planned on Boondocking somewhere else. At about 9pm we realized we would not be able to. We called and they took us right in. Gave us a pull through so wouldn’t have to back in in the dark. In the morning we could finally see what and adorable site it is. Not far off of I44 but far enough that you feel like your in the country. Very clean! Shuttles to fishing sites. Definitely keeping this site on my favorite list.
