We found ourselves in a predicament when our usual dry camping spots were inaccessible due to ongoing snowfall blocking the national park roads near Wolf Creek in May 2023. This particular campground graciously allowed us to park our 23-foot rig at a tent site by the creek for one night. The shower facilities were comfortable and spacious. The campground was agreeable, providing us with water and a place to empty our tanks. Our site, tucked away by the creek, was incredibly peaceful with the soothing sounds of the flowing water. However, the wifi was subpar, with only one bar available on Verizon. Despite this, we would certainly consider coming back, perhaps closer to a wifi router and definitely near the creek.

At first glance, PRC may not look like much. But having stayed there over a recent weekend, I can tell you it’s a great place to spend a few days (or a month). It started with a great experience booking the site. We were making some last-minute travel plans, and the PRC folks helped us find a perfect site on short notice. We travel in a tiny teardrop trailer, and the site they picked couldn’t have been better. (More on that shortly.) When we arrived, the staff greeted us, checked us in, and led us to our site. They showed us where all the amenities were, and left us to get set up. Our site (33) was perfect for a small to mid-size trailer, with beautiful trees, a nice fire ring, and a picnic table. The property has a nice pond, with sites that line one side of it. But the real beauty here is that the San Juan River sits on the back of the property. We love to fish, so we stopped in a local fly shop, picked up some flies and fishing licenses, and caught a 10-inch rainbow back at the campground. (They also sell flies and fishing tackle in the campground store.) The bathrooms and showers were nice and clean, and since we don’t have a bathroom in our trailer, we were happy to have them. This feels very much like a campground that’s been in the family for years. Sure, it’s not all new and shiny, but the staff (and there are quite a few of them) work hard to make PRC a great place to stay.

A sprawling campground located away from gas stations and restaurants; everything was clean and well-kept but the showers were not adequate for the number of campers; Very poor wi-fi.

Only about a 5 min drive into downtown Pagosa, excellent location. Very clean facilities, including showers, and extremely friendly staff. Very pet friendly. There are several campsites right along the San Juan river, and several more on a little pond, but not all sites are right on the river. Nice walking path (gravel) for dogs. Would absolutely stay here again.

I had the most wonderful experience here that I kept staying. I arrived having had bad news from home and was immediately welcomed with love and concern. They gave me the honeymoon tent spot by the San Juan River. It was magical. The next night after visiting the springs all afternoon, I wanted water and electric so I moved to an interior spot. I decided to stay again to hike in the area and relax by their pond. The last night I was on their pond. Everyone here made me feel like family. I had dinner one night with some of them. The workers are also campers. I understand others would say the river front spits are too close together but for me I my camper van it was an incredible stay.

Notice ... there are no recent reviews ... all from last year or before. Maybe this place is under new management??? We made reservations online and were mislead from the pretty photos ... don't believe it. The sites are crammed together, no privacy or space at the site. They only put the BIG RIG RV / Motor Homes at the river view sites and charge everyone the same. The small rigs get a crappy site but pay the same as the big rigs! There was dog poop along the river, grounds were not maintained, and people not friendly at all. We were there last week (July 2020). As we pulled in, my husband said, "This place looks like a dump." He was right. Two hours after we checked in, I cancelled our second night, but was told we could not get a refund. Their sign states they give a Military discount, but my bank account was charged the full price even after I showed my US Army Retired ID card upon paying / checking in. To top this off, my husband got a phone message accusing us of taking their extension cord which we left at the site. I called and spoke with a female who said the owners / managers were not available to speak with me and they she knew nothing of the matter. They threatened to charge us for the cord. We'll see what happens. We were supposed to have full hook ups, but upon arrival they said they were full and had to put us in Water / Electric only ... even though I made reservations over 3 weeks in advance! This place was so bad, we left after the first night even though we would not get a refund. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!

Pagosa Riverside Campground is a 4-star park that would be a 3-star park if it weren’t for the full-hookup riverfront sites. Definitely upgrade, they don’t discount the riverfront sites with Good Sam etc, otherwise this is any other RV park. The location is good for visiting the springs downtown, it’s a quick 5 minute ride. The park overall is clean and the staff cares. Our site was unlevel 4.5 inches side to side, which is a bit crazy for an RV park. The electrical and sewer hookups were newer and in great shape. AT&T Down: 31.7Mbps / Up: 2.94Mbps Verizon Down: 2.53Mbps / Up: 0.06Mbps Park Wifi Down: 0.13Mbps / Up: 0.47Mbps

The sites are a little too close together for me but they were good full hook up sites. The lake was fun to fish in, caught my first Carp ever in the lake. The river was muddy from a landslide a couple of days before we arrived but cleared up before we left Pagosa Springs. Had a very relaxing time. A whole lot of us Texans here.

We had a great time staying on the river. Spacious spot, quiet at night, amazing stargazing. The trees around the area are beautiful. Bathrooms were clean. The staff took us last minute and had us set up in under 20 minutes. Great people. Highly recommend.

We’ve stayed here twice now. Both times were very enjoyable. It’s a quiet atmosphere. The first time, the WiFi was poor. This time it is working very well with 5mb down speed. Showers are small but clean. Walking along the River is very relaxing.

Stuck us in a terrible site. Noisy. Dusty. Dawn to dusk light over our site. WiFi didn’t work. Location doesn’t make up for that (and it’s not that great).

First let me start by saying I love Pagosa Springs! One of my fav little towns we have travelled to during RVLife. This is a rustic RV park. Which is nice you feel like you are camping vs just a paved RV lot. We had a great site right on the river and could have stayed a lot longer. The river sites are great. Perfect spot to Swing in a hammock and Let the dogs run around in the water. Convenient. Less than 2 miles to downtown but without highway noise. WiFi is spotty.

We really enjoyed our stay here! The staff is so friendly and accommodating. Clean bathrooms, hot water, and big laundry room. The campground is RIGHT on the San Juan River and it is beautiful to walk along. There is also a small pond that is clean and pretty. Would definitely stay again.
