Pacific Dunes Ranch RV Resort Campground - experience the Pismo area's
most unique resort! Quiet location borders Oceano Dunes Preserve;
close to beach. Stable offers rental horses. Group facilities.
We stayed one week at Pacific Dunes Ranch & RV Resort and really enjoyed it. The location is amazing, with direct access to the dunes which you can walk and sand sled on (bring a sled if you have one!) and only minutes away from the town of Pismo Beach by car. You can even walk to the ocean from here but it is a bit of a workout because those dunes are huge! The sites are a little tight but not as bad as most California RV parks and we had room to set up our solo stove firepit and 4 camping chairs in front of our camper. It definitely got busy during the weekend but that is to be expected given the great location. The campground was clean, with level sites that were easy to get into. They were dirt/gravel but not dusty. The amenities were adequate but nothing amazing. They also have horses which is pretty cool – we would visit the horses on our morning walks. We didn't look into the horseback riding which the offer, maybe next time. We are Thousand Trails, Trails Collection members but only half of our stay was available through the membership. For those nights it only cost us $20 a night, for the rest we had to book outside of the system it cost us $85 a night. However, since we made our reservations in separate bookings, we had to move campsites. Note: Pacific Dunes has reserved sites that are assigned to you at check-in, it is not first come first serve like most Thousand Trails campgrounds. This didn't bother us except for how it affected our internet connection... My husband and I both work remote full time so staying connected is a must. With our internet setup which runs off of a Verizon sim card, we usually had 4 bars of 4G and were able to take video Zoom calls for work. We noticed the connection was spotty sometimes usually in the evening but mostly worked great. We have T-Mobile through Google Fi on our phones and that also usually had about 4 bars of service as well. This was for the first part of our stay which was in the upper region of the campground on the hill closest to the dunes. On Friday, for the second booking, we were moved to the lower section of the park closest to the office / entrance. The internet down here was near unusable, for both Verizon and T-Mobile. We were shocked at what a difference it made just moving down the hill. We tried the Pacific Dunes internet but that barely worked either. This was the case all weekend. On Sunday we were able to move back up to the campsites on the hill, close to our original spot at #122. The internet worked great up here once again Sunday–Tuesday before we checked out. We really enjoyed Pacific Dunes Ranch & RV Resort and are already planning to stay here again. We would definitely recommend it to others, especially for the location! But if you work remotely and need cell service, request a campsite on the hill / upper region.

We camped here overnight but we would have stayed longer if we had more time. The staff was very friendly and helpful and we absolutely loved the location. Right on the dunes, very quiet at night and close to the town of Pismo Beach. From our site, it was only 100 feet to the trailhead which led right into the most stunning dune landscape. Provided you wear the right kind of shoes, hiking to the beach takes between 20 and 30 minutes. Another great thing about a location this close to the ocean is that there are no mosquitoes. On our hike we were treated to an absolutely fabulous sunset. Considering the number of photographers present, this was no exception. Make sure you head back on time, because after the sun is gone, it is really dark out there. It was a little windy. We had a site in the upper part, which meant proximity to the dunes and a terrific view, but more wind. If you want less wind, find a spot in the lower part. It will be a little further from the trailhead and the view will not be as nice, but the wind will be much less. The road up the hill to the upper part is a pretty steep incline, but by all means doable. The sites are not very large. Our site was big enough to get in and out easily, but we would have liked a little more room for privacy. But considering the whole package, we were very happy to be here!

Pacific Dunes Ranch RV Resort was the ultimate Pismo Beach Oasis. We especially loved the location, the staff, and the nearby attractions. The staff provided information about local attractions and made us feel welcome. On the downside we would have liked to have a better internet connection (very weak and slow even though we paid for it) and there was only one shower stall in each of the bath-houses on the upper level. Otherwise we really loved the park and the area. We recommend site number #192 which has the greatest views of the sand dunes, the horses, and you will have a great neighbor to boot! We will definitely be back to this beautiful area and this park. Check out our full review here: https://youtu.be/vyxMQG3sDiE

We like this location right on the dunes. It is close to town with access to a Walmart and Trader Joe's in Arroyo Grande. We are longtime members of Thousand Trails and enrolled in Trails Collection to get access to this Encore resort for only $20/night. Only issue was that the water didn't taste good even though we use filters. Staff and most of the other campers were very friendly.

Check-in was great and very friendly. Park needs some trees/shade and kinda run down and sites are super tight. Rigs with awnings could almost touch other rigs with slides, and in some case, do. There were a lot of full timers with a lot of old run down rigs. The bathrooms were OK. Location is great if you enjoy the sand dunes, our dogs loved it. Would stay again, as there are not may options, but not high on my list of pay-parks.
