A predominately seasonal campground, Gray’s is located on land owned by the Gray family - former ship builders. This is a small campground with no children’s amenities other than the ocean. There’s a small sand beach and a larger rock/pebble beach that’s nice for watching the boats come and go. All sites are full hook up and there are a few ocean front sites, but they go to the seasonal campers. Arrival to the campground is a bit tricky as you have to travel over a bridge and down a pretty narrow street to cross into Southport Island. Doable just go slow. Owners only take check or cash for payment FYI. Good location to be close to Boothbay Harbor. A nice place to stay if you want pretty scenery, quiet and an out-of-the-way feel. Adults will like. Kids will get bored.

We visited May of 2017. The view was absolutely incredible & by far the best view anywhere we have stayed. We walked up to the picnic table over looking the sea & brunch one beautiful morning. There are no amenities for children & it was the only campground during our 3,000 mile trip that charged daily for every single one of our children including our infant & toddler, so I would not call the campground family friendly. However, my children decided to explore the tide pools during low tide & had an incredible time finding baby lobsters, hermit crabs and small fish. We came too early in the season to get lobster at the campground, but we went down the street to Robinson's Wharf where we picked up some steamed lobsters from their seafood market & enjoyed them at our campsite in front of the water.

Small campground that is very weak kept and close to the water. They have a few sites right on the water that provide no privacy and very little space. They do have other sites that offer different levels of privacy and convenience. Some sites have sewer.

We stayed here over a year ago. The approach through town is a bit precarious but doable. This homestead is a large property on a "meadow on the ocean". There is a beautiful private residence on the property as well as another residence that's been converted to condos. There are also a couple of cottages on the property. Our campsite was full hook-up on a hill with a view of the water. Between us and the water just below us were two short rows of RVs, one of which had an unobstructed view of the water. There is also a wooded area with lots of trees but no view of the water. There is a small beach on the property which is a short walking distance from all of the campsites. It was a bit of work to get into the campground and the site in our motorhome, this is the reason I'm giving this campground a four and not a five. This is a great place to kayak and there's a kayak rental outfit on the property. The center of the town of Boothbay Harbor is within kayaking distance and just over four miles driving distance. Boothbay Harbor is an adorable town with trendy shops and restaurants, a nice little market and a large marina since it's a popular yachting destination. Also within kayaking distance is the Burnt Island Lighthouse, on a little island that is accessible by boat only. The little beach is dog friendly, which makes for nice variety for dogs: grassy areas in the meadows and beach. The beach is a little rocky though. Overall a lovely property.

The owner of the campground Mr Gray is arrogant and very rude. I arrived at campground with my family. We were at campsite for about 2 hours when my dog got very sick/rushed dog to emergency animal hospital and was told it was some sort of poisoning. We were horrified. The vet said it was probably from a toxic plant / marijuana. We do not use drugs ,had not been anywhere before we arrived to campground. We literally drove 5 hours to campground. The dogs were fine. I notified campground staff the next morning of what happened and asked for a rake to clean up campsite the office sent a worker to our campsite and he raked it up. The lady in the office told us the people that were at the campsite before us had bought alot of plants, shrubs and had them at the campsite and took them home when they left / maybe the plants they had were toxic for dogs?? The owner never came to talk to us to see if the dog was ok. We arrived home and the dog still was not herself We brought her to our veterinarian and had labwork done and her liver function tests were stilll abnormal due to the poisoning. The dog is on medication and has to be on the medication for a month and then go back for more blood work. We have $500 in vet bills from emergency animal hospital in maine and our vet My husband called to speak with owner Mr Gray and was appalled at how he was treated. Mr Gray had absolutely no concern for our dog would not accept responsibility for what happened to our dog Mr Gray would not refund our money or contribute to vet bills. Mr Gray told my husband to get a lawyer and hung up. Do not stay at this campground. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!
