Since 2014, we have been loyal patrons of Destin West, even recommending it to others. However, during a recent road trip to Destin, we decided to visit the "resort" to arrange for another visit in Spring 2024. We were glad we did, as we were quite dismayed by what we observed. Our visit was on May 11, 2023, during Florida's spring season and after bike-week. The resort seemed to be suffering from neglect. The landscaping was filled with dead bushes, sandy flower beds without mulch, large colonies of red ants, and RV spots that required power washing. The pool furniture was the same old, worn-out pieces. We decided not to book a reservation and are now looking for a different RV resort along the Gulf Coast.

We had the good fortune to secure one of the limited spots with a view of the bay (38,12,39). Our spot was number 12, which greatly enhanced our stay. The campsite is immaculately maintained with elongated paved sites. Every guest is provided with a table and umbrella. You're allowed to bring your own fire pit for chilly evenings. There's a communal fire pit that they light on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I wouldn't have enjoyed being at a site near Miracle Strip Highway due to the noise. The sound is less intrusive on the bay side, but still noticeable. The staff, especially Jamie, were friendly and efficient, always ready with a warm smile. All the amenities are well-maintained. The swimming pool is heated. The beach at The Island hotel is idyllic with a beach bar and pristine white sand, which we adored. They have appealing pools, one of which is heated, that we didn't utilize. There was live music and activities every day of our stay. We spent some of our cloudier days exploring the breathtaking Gulf Island National Seashore and numerous natural state parks. The entire Emerald Coast region has a fantastic atmosphere with plenty of activities, shopping, and dining options. Oyster enthusiasts like us will be in paradise. A special mention goes to Boshamps! We enjoyed a delicious dinner at Rick's, located next door, on our final evening. Needless to say, we can't wait to return!

We spent three weeks here in the last month of the year. The location was spotless, albeit a bit cramped, but the spaces were lengthy. We brought our children along and often visited the resort's pool and hot tub situated across the road. There's a great pizzeria adjacent to us. Okaloosa Pier and the stunning white sandy beaches were easily reachable. The amenities were commendable, and the staff was amicable and supportive. They arranged a community bonfire on Tuesdays and Thursdays for roasting marshmallows. There's a charming little jetty on the bay side, ideal for paddleboarding, where we spotted a variety of fish and wildlife. We'll definitely return. This place holds a special place in our hearts.

A petite green space featuring ample room and foliage interspersed between each area. It's neat and conveniently situated. The reception staff is outstanding.

We only stayed here for one night but it is a great campground. On the water, close to the beach and restaurants. Jamie at the campground was super friendly, helped us into our site and even helped me out with a project I had on my fifth wheel. Very thankful for his help and will definitely return to this campground.

With just over 50 sites this is not a huge campground. The staff is very friendly and we have had no problems at all. The spacing is ok between sites, but there is shrubbery between each site making it feel more private. You do get a little jet noise, but that is NOT a complaint.... Just wanted to let everyone know. Good cell service and free Wi-Fi and cable TV.

we stayed at Destin West for 2 nights in space 40 in our 45’ coach and TOAD. Partial view of ocean. Space 39 offers the best view. Easy pull in and back out in the park, however, crossing traffic on the busy highway requires patience. Park is clean and well-maintained although the pool was closed during our visit due to maintenance. It is rather expensive for what is offered but the location to Ft Walton/Navarre is great.

Underwhelmed experience. We have been RVing for the last 20 years, while this was not our worst experience it just did not live up to expectations, hype or cost/night. While the brick sites were very lovely, the broken power connection pole, snowy/garbled cable connection, internet that was mediocre at best and unbundled bales of pine needle mulch stacked throughout the park made the overall experience more like what I would have expected at a park where you pay $30/night. A disappointing weekend experience overall.
