The boat harbor opposite our location is consistently loud throughout the night. The seaside is merely a brief stroll away, however, it's compact and features a number of oil rigs. The restrooms were exceptionally neat. The park is predominantly occupied by winter visitors and has limited paved areas, resulting in most camping spots being on the lawn. The entire park has a somewhat neglected appearance.

The park was not difficult to locate, situated just beyond the Ferry Terminal. The entire area, including the internal roads, is paved. There is sufficient signage, and the check-in process was quick and welcoming. The park rules are quite straightforward. Our allocated spot, 02, was a dirt and grass area that comfortably accommodated our Coach and Towed. Utilities (30/50 amp, water, and sewer only) were positioned on the left side. The spacing was satisfactory for a destination park. Each spot comes with a table, but lacks a fire pit. Our spot was level and even. The park was overall clean and well-kept. It is a dog-friendly park, and we didn't notice any unattended dog waste. However, there are several stray cats residing in the park, resulting in a noticeable amount of cat waste. The cats serve as a deterrent to snakes and rodents. The park does not offer wifi or cable TV. Unfortunately, our Verizon signal was weak, preventing streaming from our Hot Spot. Wifi is supposedly available in the Pavilion, though we didn't test it. We did manage to locate several OTA channels. Satellite might be challenging. We didn't use the bathrooms or showers, but upon inspection, they were clean and modern, as were the laundry facilities. A brief trail from the park leads to a stunning dog-friendly beach. Where the trail becomes sandy, a boardwalk has been installed to accommodate those with disabilities. There are no eateries or shops within comfortable walking distance, but a brief drive will lead you to food, shopping, and convenience stores. We found this park to be a pleasant place to stay for a period. There are no permanent residents, but many seasonal ones who are very sociable. The park offers some organized activities, but we chose not to participate. There are many advantages, but two significant drawbacks - the lack of Wifi with weak Verizon signal and the dirt/grass base that can become muddy when it rains. We paid a

Couldn’t get over the Ferry due to wind! Found this Gem! Would definitely come back again. Would have stayed longer if we had time! Clean, friendly, beach access…Perfect!!!

We stayed here the last week of February, 2021. The park is quiet and mostly long term campers. It is close to the beach and has great access without having to cross a street. The bath house was clean and hot water supplied by on demand water heaters. The spot we had was not equipped with a sewer hookup, only water and electric. Dump station was close by so using my tote was easy. The negative aspects about this park is the sound of the ferry horn first thing in the morning and most of all the most negative thing about the park is the amount of stray cats roaming around and on vehicles , tables , or wherever they want at night. Waking up to sandy cat tracks on my brand new truck was not cool at all. I will be bringing some type of repellent next year. Overall, a nice place to stay with very friendly staff.

This place could be so much more, especially given the location and the price. Sites are very crowded. Lots of road noise in the red site section from the road. The Ferry starts running at 5am and you can hear the PA system announcements. The vibration of the ferry can be felt. 2 of the 5 washers were broken. Dog park is behind the trash bins and there is plenty of poo everywhere, even though there are signs that say pick it up. People were nice enough. We didn’t use the showers. Verizon service is only 2 bars and very slow. I wouldn’t want to come here for a vacation. There is a Beach about a mile away, hardly anyone was there.

The location is good. Near touristy spots such as Fort Gaines, Estuarium, Bird Sanctuary and the ferry to Fort Morgan. The sites are unpaved and a little battered by hurricanes. A lot of full time residents live here so there's overflowing of stuff. There is a beach access but no flag to indicate warnings. The stray cats are little creepy, people not suppose to feed them but they do anyways.

It is all in your perspective, but we prefer a bit of privacy and separation with foliage between sites, and if you do as well, I would recommend you choose a tent site. Most back up to the wooded bird sanctuary (watch out for bird poop!) However, if these sites were full they would not have much privacy, but we were the only ones for the first night and there was only one other camper in this loop the second night. The RV sites have zero privacy, however! Some of these sites back directly on to the road. It seemed to me that there are many returnee snowbirds who stay here so they don’t seem to mind. When we were there, there was a snowbird arts and crafts display. If you do choose an RV site, I would recommend Site 15-21. BUT, you do not have the option of reserving a specific site; it is assigned to you upon arrival. After reading other reviews, I dreaded the laborious check-in process, but it did not take very long. Also, driving up to the window to let them know you were leaving is all there was to the check-out process. The bathhouse was immaculate, regardless of the time of day. There is a sign prohibiting pets from being in the bathhouse, but some disregarded this rule. In fact, there almost seemed to be as many dogs as people here! The laundry room looked nice and had a television but has limited hours(closed at 8 pm). There is an approximately mile-long walkable beach with access directly from the campground; if you head east, you will get to Fort Gaines and if you head west, you will eventually reach private property and cannot go any further on the beach. There were nice sunsets for the two nights we were there. The Mobile Bay ferry terminal is also directly across the street from the campground; yes, you will hear the whistle! A small town with shops and restaurants is about two miles away and there is a wide bike/pedestrian path. Although we enjoyed our time here, I likely would not return as there are nicer beaches and other places to explore!

We loved this campground. It's quiet, a short walk to the dog-friendly beach, at the end of a great bike trail across the island, and very friendly campers. We were lucky to be here on the opening of Mardi Gras. There's a fun parade that starts right near the campground. Took home loads of beads and a lot of moon pies :) Fellow campers adopted us for a pre-parade lunch and post-parade fish fry. The Laundry and shower house are newer and very clean. Wifi is only available in the rec hall and it worked in the laundry, too. There's a few restaurants on the island, but mostly a place to relax, enjoy the beach and the bird sanctuary.

Published price is $38.00 per night. The Price of $44.00 includes taxes and a "maintenance fee". Our 7th day was free. Site was very spacious, backed up to the tent camping area. Two sites over began the trail leading to the beach. After a short walk, the sand starts and there is a boardwalk to get you the rest of the way. The best thing about this campground for us was the beach access, yet you were protected from the strong ocean breeze. The showers (3 stalls) were clean with very good pressure and lots of hot water. Poor location of the sewer for our site, so we stayed unhooked until the adjacent site was empty, and ran our sewer hose 30 feet to that site for a quick dump. Lots of tree cover, so brooming off the slideout was a must. Advise using a regulator on the water. Not great cell strength, but were still able to do some streaming.

I camp in a converted suv and was denied a campsite unless I could pitch a tent or was at least in a van. Very disappointing. I would totally have spent several days here, otherwise. The island is gorgeous with bike paths and beaches and birds galore.
